+1 for the parallel push XT / XTR. Having said that, my Magura rim brakes (were they called frogs?) were amazing. Laced to a snowflaked lemon XC713 / XT hub, on my first proper bike.

    Thanks all (most*)

It was the fact you can see innards when threading the cable through the shifter that worried me. On my trusty XTR rapid fire shifters – going strong after a decade) you push and the end with the lead ‘blob’ simply appeared.

I’ve done the difficult part (if that’s the right word) with the cable through the shifter. I can finish the rest tomorrow as beer + curry + 2nd half of The Hobbit is calling.

    Thanks again

Seriously? You really care about what others think about your wallet?

I felt the same, networking at a black tie do and pulling out my otherwise awesome ‘skater wallet’.

Sign of the times (?) but I’m surprised at how many peoples’ only bike is a full sus.

Anyway, here’s my ‘1 and only’. It commutes, has a wee ride for my son and is perfect for singletrack blasting.

If you only need to write invoices / letter heads etc with the software then you spent more time posting here than you could have on Google!

I bought one for Woodbury, Dartmoor and occasional Haldon trips and it was great. The mud clearance was great in the gloopy crap you get on the common, the stretched-ish position was perfect for slogging up those seemingly endless slogs into a headwind on the moors and the steel was nice and forgiving on the faster runs on Haldon. I’m 5′ 7.5″ and the 16″ was perfect.

I had mine broken after a big forward came charging from behind in a rugby match.

I got a piles cushion from the hospital as it was end of semester time and lots of sitting to be done :(

I think I was back on my bike within 3 weeks and 100% in 5.

    Hopefully just bruised!

Does it have to be the saw version?

I’m not heavy or fast but have weak finger/s (broken several times) so prefer 200mm.

    Thanks

Wifey loved an iPad. Got her through those long nights etc.

She also gorged on all the stuff you’ve to avoid whilst pregnant. Mostly chocolate mousse.

Got one two years ago for Christmas. Other than diving (although, in theory, it would be water proof at that depth), I never take it off and it’s great. The time’s perfect, the sapphire crystal doesn’t have a mark on it and the ti strap’s comfortable and no signs of wear. The glow-in-the-dark hands are the first I’ve ever seen that actually work for a good 10 hours in the dark.

Very happy my wife spent more than the 20 pounds we agreed. She’s getting a new iPad this year, despite the 20 pound agreement!

5e isn;t maxed out by SSDs in RAID streaming to various computers / iPads etc in the house.

Get 5e and forget about it. We’ll be long dead before network speeds are throttled by wiring.

Wirelss works well for most printers / brands etc now.

If you’re an iDevice family, then look for one with air print.

Avoid Canons if you care about the costs of ik. Brother tend to be the best $ per page.

According to my wife, the day after halloween decorations come down.

In my house growing up, it was Christmas eve and it was brilliant; it really made the day more special.

    Son (~20 months now but still has two meals at school) today had;

    for morning snack

orange and pineapple in bite size chunks

    for lunch

    cold noodles with veggies
    home made chicken goujons
    broccoli and potato mash
    banana fritter

become an ex-pat and just ask your maid to make something different every day :)

FWIW, I had the same as he did, just a bigger portion!

    Awesome vehicles.

I guess the problem is that if you get your unimog stuck somewhere, you’ll need a chinook to get you out!

New cable and outers a month or so ago.

I think it was always like this. The bike was in storage and built up for ym wife.

I’ll have more of a fettle with the various settings. A big problem with the small Inbred frames is the height of the front mech compared to the cable outer stop.

Too tipsy to read all the replies but, yes it can.

    Ways around it are

    proxy4free.com

    use a free wifi spot

    use a 3rd party’s computer / internet

honestly though, for the average geek, finding out who you are from the complaint (they’d need full access to the data saved, assuming enough was) is unlikely.

    From an average geek :)

p.s. don’t even be tempted to post details here of it. Clever googling could then easily / probably connect you!

use a potato ricer for the lightest mash. A hand whisk also works well.

Use some of the water from boiling the spuds and milk (50:50) for the needed liquid.

I bought a 50mm prime for my Canon as it was cheap and another thing to play with on my camera.

For its cost (~75GBP), it’s the best value camera kit I’ve bought.

One of the great things about prime lenses it is forces you to walk and move to get the best picture. Something that a lot of beginners* forget.

Although I usually use it for portraits, f1.8 for that money is impossible if you want a zoom or anything else. The fast speed is great in lower light.
