so were finally getting the hang of it now.

but we have had to give back the borrowed burner. new burners are like rocking horse shit online. has anyone any idea where there might be one available? Also there appears to be 2 models, the ‘gas burner’ and ‘gas burner for ooni pro’ the latter ones are widely available – has anyone used this with an oven thats not an ooni pro?

bloody love BCS. loved BB too to be fair too. Better Call Saul skateboard scammers scene in the first season with the Shook Milestones track turned up to max is just class…

i loved Fargo too, up until the the Renton series when i lost interest.. need to revisit i think.

Theres not much i dont like tbh, but thought Good Girls was garbage. i only managed to keep watching a whole season for one reason, well two actually…

not watched anything new for a while tho, was thinking of cancelling when they announced the recent price hike, but then id be cutting my whole extended family off!!

mostly watch Im Alan Partridge on repeat you cow. and ive watched Straight Outta Compton a million times.

    will give Lupin a go!

i dont understand why a company want to hold onto someone who didnt want to be there for 3 months?

i guess its great for the employee if they are pushed, but not if they want to jump. surely all work ethic disappears the moment you know you’re leaving?

i have only ever been on contract roles with 1 week notice, but i have never had to work even that – they always say finish on friday and pay up for the following week.

suburban shared offices/co-working spaces etc become more of “a thing”

This is such a cool idea. I can imagine myself and a bunch of locals in similar situations all sharing a small office space. An office full of people you already know and like. All doing jobs completely separate from each other, no competition, just a nice environment. Especially if as suggested in this thread we started being taxed to WFH…

I think this is exactly why we need a flexible solution going forwards. Im pretty much totally the opposite. I live about a 40 min cycle from work, miss the office, miss the people in it, miss working as a team not online, I miss extended bike rides home with the people i work with for chat laps. Im that odd person who would be more than happy to go back to “normal” in the office 9-5 mon-fri. Just because a few people don’t want it why shouldn’t my needs / wants be catered for too. I know this isn’t what your but people seem to talk about it as if it’s one of the other when its not its both. If my company went 100% remote I would likely leave for a company that isn’t.

yeah the days of putting the kids to bed on Sunday night then driving 5hrs to a rented box room in a london subburb to then sit at desk for 45hrs have got to be in the past now. they are for me anyway (fingers crossed) id be happy to do it one week in the month maybe, could upgrade digs and make a bit of a jolly out of it… i often ride my bike twice a day now, weather permitting, and i ride with my mates rather than on me tod.

Next to our office in Monument, there are (were) ten pubs or bars within a stone’s throw.

I can’t see all of them being open when we go back to “normal”.

i do miss the Thursday dinner time pintage actually!! and certaily missed the christmas shenanigans! but its still an easy swap.

As someone who has worked/stayed away from home for the last 20 years to be sat in an office in or around London, Working from home this last year has been a dream for me!! i do not miss the office or people one bit but i am starting to wish i could get out of the house a day or 2 of the week on site visits or something… but im not complaining. i shudder at the thought of going back to ‘normal’

My dad is pretty keen on cruises. The mrs & I joined him for one ages ago when we were early 20’s. It was an American ship, carnival iirc, majority American passengers round the Med. we had a brilliant time. Certainly wasn’t an ancient crowd, no formal dress code or any of that nonsense. Great vibe with all these yanks buzzing about being in Europe. Loved it in the casino late at night playing craps with all these whooping and hollerin folks!!

Fast forward 15 years we went on another, a royal Caribbean not dissimilar to the billion pound one. This was an all expenses paid all inclusive jolly for the old mans 60th birthday. Med again. The ship was unreal, brand new, all the fancy amenities but there was a big group of us, 2 brothers and their families, step brother and wife etc so we were just going for it every day. Not even sure which ports we stopped at because the ship was so much fun.

We enjoyed it so much we booked another the following year. Med again, royal Caribbean again but a much older boat. Seemed tatty and dated compared to the previous one, we had a shitty internal cabin with no windows. the entertainment wasn’t as good, the weather wasn’t great so didn’t get much use of the pools ( when the weather did pick up the pool area was too hammered to use) Ports of call not that interesting… quickly decided this would be our last cruise for a while.

All in all. I’d recommend everyone try it once if they can. That program does make it look a bit grotesque, all that food they go through!! The worst part for me is the ports. Don’t enjoy being one of this 10k man invasion at every destination where the locals are just waiting to extract money from you. Feel awkward being herded off this floating block of flats with the camera pointing socks n sandal brigade. We learnt to let the crowds disperse, wander off at our leisure later in the day. Happy to just mooch round the immediate area and find a bar or a beach to sit at for a bit or just stay onboard and enjoy the ship while it’s a bit more peaceful.

if any of the guys camping were carrying the virus, they could well have just infected all the rescuers and their families. That’s the risk the lockdown is there to avoid. thats the fundamental. Breaching lockdown to enjoy the Lakes while everyone else is stuck at home is another aspect which just makes them c**ts.

Just wondering why virtual rides less interesting to follow on Strava than real ones

for me i like to see where local riders are venturing, maybe ask them what conditions were like on certain tracks etc…

virtual rides are akin to me posting my call of duty match scores! i really dont care for the stats – only the routes.

IF you enjoy the Grizedale stuff (assuming you dont mean the trail centre) its probably only a 30min spin up to Staveley-in-cartmel? (or just drive up in 10) for laps at Chapel House and Gummers How.

well it started raining so the operation had to move inside which was a ball ache and elevated stress levels. then id read the base should be almost transparent, so we rolled the first very thin, but could not get the peel under it! then we assembled one on the peel but couldnt get it off into the oven… we finally got one to work with a ton of flour but in frustration completely forgot cheese (so the kids had a burnt base with barely melted cheese) while i was outside dicking about with that the mrs had rolled out an applied toppings to the rest of the dough indoors but obviously they were glued to the worktop too. ripped to shreds trying to get the peel under em!! just lobbed the lot in the bin!! even managed to find some Nduja which was wasted too!

i have ordered a couple of wooden paddles which they seem to use in all the vids. this should make the supply chain easier. and im told flour flour flour, even more than you’d think?

made some dough that seemed alright. the rest of the experience was a disaster tho. most of it get hoyed in the bin… lots of lessons, lots more still to learn.

Play the long game. Wait until summer. Nail your technique in the grippy dry. Apply what you learned next winter.

this is the worst thing you can do imo. you gotta keep riding them, makes you appreciate the dusty season more. if you can nail it while its shit you will be flying come summer!!

i rode Friday, conditions were pretty ‘bog’ standard, was apparent it had leathered down over night on Thursday. I rode again saturday AM and it was dry, ive no idea how or why it had dried out that much in 24hrs but i wasnt complaining. mud was still soft low down but grippy mud rather than wet slop. then sunday it was even dryer but all completely frozen!! absolutely fantastic weekend for riding!!

    +1 for Rapunui.

not had the fishing jumper but had a few of the organic cotton jumpers, hoody’s and t-shirts. also have a few of the flannel shirts. im a big fan of their wares (except the printed stuff) loads of socks too. plus a beanie which i cant wear coz it crushes my skull!

they also bollock on about their sustainable ethos, clobber is posted in recycled paper bags etc.

mines a Karu 12. it comes with an impressive looking insulated door. it does say in the bumf that its to be left off when coking with gas – but i wasnt sure if it should stay on during the initial heat-up?

    mahalo

might be a daft question. when cooking with gas do you leave the door off when initially heating up the oven?

i love a pipe of pringles but holy shit these are the latest greatest thing of all time!!

i called at tesco to pick up some bits for my mum the other day and bought myself a tube – they didnt survive the rest of the journey to her house! then on the way home i had to stop again and stock up with another 5 tubes!!! mrs went shopping this week and they’ve sold out!

i worked with a guy who commutes to London from Switzerland. Lockdown/WFH has been a dream for him the bastard!! tbf he used to travel from door to door, via Basel and Gatwick quicker than i could drive from Lancs – but now he’s skiing or riding alpine mountains every day!

How good would it be to work in the Alps for a few months over winter to enjoy the season, or the south of Italy in the summer.

it would be torture when i actually had to do some work!!
