yes even with import duties i still saved >£100 on UK RRP buying from ze germans.

I bought a shock and spring recently from Starbike in Germany. they had a little calculator link where you could work out how much import duty etc you would pay. when it arrives at your local Parcelforce depot you go online and pay the fee. the Starbike calculation was pretty accurate except it was plus VAT – so maybe try them?

Duties are payable on parcels with a value exceeding £135. Id be interested to know if splitting that £300 total into 3 separate £100 orders would avoid charges!?

i had a dodgy BWFC badge inked on when i was about 17. 25 years later i hate it (not the club!)

last time i went on holiday lying round the pool, i was jealous of the blokes with no tattoos! there were not very many!

its hideous and if on display gives people a very quick generalisation of the type of person i am not.

no matter how much time, effort and expense you go to on a beautiful intricate piece of artwork – you’ll be in the same club as the guys with prison tats and homemade Luv MuM scrawls.

newish track out the back of Grizedale down to Coniston. Relentlessly steep for ever!! ridiculous. the first turn you think your gonna fall 300m into the lake!

looks good. Didnt even know it was closed… used to go often before the world flipped upside down. Get the steam train from Summerseat and walk up, kids play on the park and some dinner in the cafe and a mooch round the creepy animal displays! good times.

Currently enjoying ‘On Becoming a God in Central Florida’ Kirsten Dunst is brilliant and still bang tidy no matter how hard they try to make her look otherwise!

We rented a VW T6 camper for a mini tour of the lakes. i had booked campsites as a fall back in case we couldnt find any wild (not wild) spots and also to use the facilities… so we mixed it up. it was fine we found plenty of places, some had signs up but didnt seem to put others off so we just pitched up… to be honest i preferred it when we had neighbours, came to the conclusion any places without vans was probably a big no-no.

decided its not for us tho, defo prefer my tent! but the best thing was waking up early and driving to a national trust carpark before the masses – get dressed, have breakfast, chill out etc when we get there without the rush! then returning to the van after a big walk and cracking a beer out the fridge!

If you have previously enjoyed Aziz Ansari’s Master of None, I would suggest you avoid the latest (3rd?) season, it’s just a joyless sub-arthouse A-Level film making project.

Often said Master of None is my favourite show to come out of Netflix, but the new season was a bit of a let down – kindda thought the first episode (which was great) was gonna be a sort of distraction opener, like the black and white Season 2 first episode (which was also great) but then eps 2 and 3 came and it was just more of the same which did feel a bit a self indulgent…

personally i would just climb up the fire road to Seat How bypassing all the sections of trail then do the big red descent as many times as i could manage. the rest of it is meh. especially the south side. but as trail centre descents go, that big red is mega!

Can we start a craft-ish beer recommendation thread?

2 breweries local to me have some incredible wares!! non are the cheapest, and ive never seen any great deals but sometimes i like to treat myself…

Northern Whisper; Chinwag, Yammerhouse and some of their seasonal specials, (rhubarb and custard IPA!)

Rivington Brewing Co: Never known fog like it – absolutely wonderful drop, maybe my all time fave!

CYB benefits from familiarity or local knowledge. you can ride all the best bits without following the signs – obviously depends what your into but for me the beast is dreadful as a full loop!

Approaching my 10yr anniversary. best money ive ever spent, even though i got it on tick with 3yrs interest free at Optimax!

-4.5 in one eye, -6.1 in the other. completely reliant on specs or contacts to exist previously.

fully expected to be laughed out of the clinic when i went for my free consultation! but the optician explained it would just be a lengthier operation – about 3 seconds longer than average!! :D

vision is still tip-top touch wood and my eyes feel healthier than ever (apparently i had caused some serious damage to my eyes with excessive contact lens use, worn for days, weeks on end in my yoof)

I still wake up and pad around for my glasses on the bedside table occasionally which is a nice reminder. Little things like being able to lie watching tele with my head on a pillow were completely new to me, as was buying normal sunglasses! and obviously its a game changer for riding bikes!! ever had a contact lens blow out on a fast descent? nightmare!

My procedure was a doddle too, never had to use any of the drugs they provided. had it done on a Friday, was back in work Monday.

I started a new job like this in January. I’ve just jacked it in after 16 weeks of the most frustrating, boring, least rewarding period of my career. It wasn’t just the remote working tho, in fact that was best bit. If I’d have had to endure these people in person I’d not have lasted 16 weeks.

I like put a handful of grated cheese in a bowl with a dollop each of Mayo and mustard, and a handful of chopped jalapeños. Mix that together, spread onto toast and grill. Splash of hot sauce

Mightily fkd off when Prime suddenly removed The Americans from the free to me list, i hate that by the way, its not frigging free is it!! but i was up to series 5 and absolutely loving it. at least Netflix give you warning when they plan to remove stuff… anyway led me to return to Fargo. id given up on season 3 early on. finished that now, great stuff, nice amount of weird, loved the Thaddeus flash back episode!! theres a fourth season already in the universe. hopefully NF will get hold of it soon?

someone sent me a birthday present from them, it does not fit and sending it back is becoming an ordeal… i try to DL or print the returns label and its just blank. have tried reaching out to them but silence so far… never heard of em before but they seem to be quite a large multinational company. i appreciate this is of absolutely no use to your predicament…

the video aludes to the fact that bike brands marketing budgets are usually spent up and teams / contracts are all in place by the end of the year. No doubt loads of brands would snap her hand off had they known she was available. its all a bit first world – id imagine worst case scenario is she has to ride as a privateer for a season and then be back on a factory team for the following year? fairly certain she wouldnt have to fund her own bike, only the travel and digs, all the races are in europe this year anyway.

yeah its well annoying. i find it will often crash using manual mode after you’ve already plotted most of the ride!! also, when you try and crib someone else ride who has ridden off piste – the points on your new route jump about to recognised paths leaving it nothing like the one you want!

my top tip. change the activity type from cycling to jogging when plotting. this way it picks up many more footpaths and heatlines.
