i remember seeing her on some chat show or other before i realised who she was. she was brash, but funny and charming. i thought ‘who is this? she’s great’

then she started singing and i turned over. thoroughly terrible noise.

    i choose ikea.

our routine is i sit in the cafe while the ladies walk round the display areas, coffee or sometimes a beer but always some delicious horse balls. Then i meet em in the heavy lift area, do the tills, bag of mini dime bars, 50p hotdog, load up and eff off.

i appreciate many of the bad points mentioned, but i have slowly learnt to exclude those negatives. i wont spend the day with people (blood relatives incl) i dont like. i wont go to work xmas parties, i wont cook or eat disgusting sprouts just because society says i should. i dont really have to do any shopping, and I dont let the mrs drink Gin…

everything else is brilliant. love it

I am wondering if ill appreciate the time off as much having worked from home all year1!?

Don’t remember if I recommended it here, but it’s great innit?

I’ve mentioned it a few times. The first and second series are still my favourite shows on the flix!! I liked the 3rd season too tbh but a bit self indulgent.

ill use my normal mtb on the weekend as its the only daylight riding i get so want to maximise fun and smash that brown soup. plenty of time/daylight to get it clean afterwards too.

whenever ive scratched the hardtail itch in the past i have a couple of rides then just start to wish i was on the full suss as i inevitably chuck it down the same trails.

as such i plumped for a gravel bike this year, essentially its a drop bar rigid 29er, ie big tyres, dropper etc. this is my solo/ after work/ after dark bike. forces me to stick to the beaten path and makes the beaten path infinitely more fun yet still get to stay 100% off-road. Riding down tracks ive only ever used as climbs in the past and loving it – turns out many of the bridleways round here are much rougher than i ever realised!!

Have none of you watched Battle Royale? If you want **** up, that’s **** up.

its a definitely a rip off of Battle Royale, so is Hunger Games and and one or two others; but thats no bad thing. its brilliant, im loving it (subtitled)

Dunno what it is about Korean cinema, its ace! probably because we only get to see the very best ones in the west? but there are some absolute belters.

we inherited a hive system with new house. baffles me tbh. has a mind of its own. have set the schedule, but it still just comes on and off when it feels like. need to get the hang of it before the proper cold sets in.

tbh, in fairness to Hive – i never really understood how to use the traditional central heating system (mrs always took care of that) i just know how to burn wood!

trails are great at the moment, they have gone past the initial wet dust turbo grease stage but not entered into full axle deep slop mode yet!

Magic Mary or Shorty all year for me, and a front mudhugger! have a spare wheel with a wet scream fitted for ‘special’ occasions but not rolled that out yet. took the plunge on a new gravel bike for winter miles and slop avoidance recently. i ride most days in the evenings and couldnt be arsed with the cleaning routine cold and dark when i get home. I’ve been out on that a few times, enjoying it. Its a lot more fun than i thought it would be – but i took the mtb back out last night for some good old steep n tech! this is definitely where its at!! i will not resort to tarmac or static bikes no matter what the weather throws at me! but id have probably included gravel in that list a few years ago…

watched it last night. decided to stick it on when i saw it listed just to get a flavour but ended up watching the whole thing till 01:30!

Absolutely loved it. yeah id have liked a bit more plot and a bit more action (Chase never gives us what we want… although there is one nice little reveal that answers a few questions..!) but as an absolute Sopranos fanboi and for pure nostalgia it was great.

That Daisy’s overly hysterical laughter about every **** thing is ruining it for me.

Pretty much what I arrived to say.

    me too.

this is my issue. lever just falls away from the resting position…

I was literally just reading this thread on my dinner as ive just fitted a new set on my bike, they are 3 or 4 rides old, been out tonight, did have a little off, nothing major but i carried on and went tohook the lever with my index finger as you do and it was swinging away out of reach!!

the same little tab thing has snapped!! i can’t friggin believe it. brake still works fine if i keep my finger on the lever, but if i let go when heading downhill it just falls out of reach, pretty scary!! gutted

id ride Llagnollen over Degla, Revs over Stiniog. Coed is decent if you manage to tailor the loop to pick up all the best bits; but just enjoy Betwys – some of my favourite riding in UK right there!

just vomited at the thought of that doing that climb twice in one day!!

would No Social be worth a spin down if we’re pushing to the top of Feed The Pony as well?

i bought a set of brakes from them 2 weeks ago, they shipped to UK – they are still sat awaiting UK customs clearance like but they did ship them!

im struggling with the crankset on my 141. needs 2 spacers behind the driver side BB otherwise both the crank arm and the chainring fould the chainstays. im pretty sure this is throwing out the chainline giving me noisy transmission. i must be doing something wrong but cannot fathom wtf it is!?

its a raceface aeffect boost crankset.

10 and a couple of whiskeys sounds about normal, maybe not every week but a fairly common pattern for me would be post thursday night ride, 2 or 3 pints. another 2 or 3 on a friday tea time at the local cricket club. Footy on a saturday, pre-match/halftime/post-match pints; thats 8 then family walk on a Sunday, pub lunch, another 2 pints easy. then whiskey on the couch watching tele in between.. thats on a weekend where im not going out-out!

my kids are kids so cant compare but i do notice the youngsters at work have a completely different attitude towards drinking than we did (do) that reminds me, forgot pre-pandemic lunchtime beers with lads from work!

like that Doomanic defeated the swear filter – probably because its the most justified use of it ever!!

pre-pandemic i was a regular cinema goer working away from home in London during the week it was something to do. i had an unlimited card, you read all about the latest films in the Metro everyday and i would listen to kermode with extra mayo along with other film podcasts on the commutes south.

right now i have not got scooby doo about current, upcoming or what has been out in the last 12 months! always made a point of watching all the big award nominations at least – no idea what has won what recently at all?

bit of a shame really. need to get my mojo back.. difficult tho with a house full – much easier to go solo!

My inlaws live in Pwllheli, we go a lot but its rare we go into Abersoch. If we did we probably wouldnt eat there – for somewhere so pretentious the two main pubs are both a bit of a dive. ok for a pint tho. in fairness the beach is incredible on a nice day (excluding school holidays) Chippy is decent, and the butchers is good for bbq tackle.

The quality of boozers on the whole peninsular has been a bugbear of mine for donkeys, but things are improving. Pontoon Pwllheli is great but they dont seem to have re-opened post lockdown yet. FiL local is the Madryn in Chwilog, under new management – decent in there. Y Bryncynan on the way to Nefyn is alright too. obviously Ty Coch is a must if you’ve never been. There is a cracking cafe in Criccieth too, No46.

Abersoch has some lovely walks out over the headland, or you could do Tre Cieri iron hill forts. i always have wander up Garn Boduan, easy hike for killer views (and theres a little DH track on there someone has been building)

@pothead – this off piste descent from Whinlatter, is it easy to find?

well easy. just pops off the main fire road climb on the north loop.. you can pick it up a from a couple of places but best to climb to the very top and do the whole garbanzo. full on!

Their opticians were always the reason we visited back in the day. i joined again a few years ago when i was working next door to one. cracking place for dinner. especially if your feeling delicate or indulgent – stodge city!

They have many bargains no doubt but its definitely a false economy. you (we) genuinely always buy a trolley full of shite you didnt need or want! a bucket of shampoo, a giant vat of sweets, plus maybe a kayak or a garden shed – and a Tele. oh and cakes. Behemoth cakes!

i hate writing negative posts but these are shite shoes. they let in so much water, even summer morning dew. waterproof socks an necessity. and if you ride anywhere remotely rocky they’ll be torn to shreds in weeks. thats from a fiveten faithful!

not NF but im completely locked and loaded into Succession now after a couple of failed attempts…! cracking stuff.

I love Once Upon a Time in Hollywood! watched it again when it appeared on the flix recently. seen it a few times now and im still not bored of it – if you think nothing happens then you must have fallen asleep.

lifelong spectacle wearer till i had the laser eye surgery 10 yesars ago, i decided to buy myself some nice Raybans as it was a luxury i never had before… ive since had many pairs of various designer brands. my eyes are quite sensitive to light, and wind! so it does not have to be mega sunny for me to get em out. budget usually around £120-150 which i dont think is bad for the amount of use they get… go-to’s are Oakley Holbrooks for day to day, Rayban’s for more formal occasions.

Also impressed with the Melon Alleycats for riding!
