another thing, floorplans on rightmove are always in-accurate!! we sit at home thinking about which walls you can knock down but you get to the site and its completely different!

my mrs is obsessed, checking rightmove hourly for new possibilities. me im quite content where we are so it has to be pretty special on paper to even warrant a viewing but when we do we really take our time looking round.

always the same verdict tho, she’s blindsided & loves it, i list the negatives. spent ages looking at one on saturday, house itself was perfect loved it, but the garden was shit. spent ages trying to convince ourselves it didnt really matter about the garden, … but ultimately a bigger garden was the reason we started looking in the first place!!

so are you saying we should drive down to Allemond at some point the day before the race, dump the van and ride home (via the lifts) – then after the race we can just drive back to AdH?? is this because the buses/lifts back to Oz/AdH are dead busy?

we arrive Tuesday night, disappear Sunday night. so got 5 days riding incl quali and the race. how much of the day does quali and the race take up? can you continue riding afterwards? what to do weds & thurs? is it worth a nip over to L2A?

i once got caught 3 times in a week, hidden mobile unit on the same stretch of road. Doing 36 in a 30, completely uninhabited stretch of country lane. i didnt know id been caught till i received the letters in the post a few weeks later! probably wouldve been caught 5 times if the bastards hadnt moved on elsewhere.

im not justifying them, im as embarrassed by topless English louts abroad as anyone, but I have been to Marseille to watch football and trouble does seem to just find you there.

Bolton were playing Marseille in the UEFA cup, we were sat outside that irish bar in the old port, everyone in good spirits with the occasional singalong. then before you knew it we had been barricaded in by a army of riot police, if anyone tried to leave they were shoved back, no reasoning or explanations just callousness. this understandably got a few people a bit irate and things got a bit heated. but then missiles started flying in; cans, bottles, rocks etc. there was a firm of French hooligans behind the police! they had just come to cause trouble and it appears the police were actually protecting us. but these kids pelting stuff at us made Bolton fans even more desperate to break the defences so the plod started clobbering folk. it was a nightmare and all caused by the polices poor handling of the situation.

i got little van for bike duties, ended up using it far more than I anticipated. I love it. but its also good to get back into our nice, smooth, big leather armchair, quiet car at weekend – something that id been taking for granted before!
