i know the feeling, my 7yr old (just turned) was flying this year! honestly reckon the two of us could get a little weekend trip in next season! she leaves her mother for pow! we also had the 3yr on planks for the first time, she can be a right mard and i didnt think she’d take to it but she was loving it! was definitely the highlight watching them two!

Moorbottom road was alright (considering) rode up cobbles, along mbr, down through Buckden, along route66 to Irwell and back up robin hoods, back along mbr to tower, cut the corner, rocky, then back down cobbles (consciously avoiding Redisher) very wet obvs but mostly armoured surfaces so not to bad mud wise

edit, actually maybe dont ‘cut the corner…’ 😉

Apparently it’s to do with the council repairing the bridge. New road way thing is for contractor parking and equipment.

gonna commit another hijack. i too am a contractor with my own LTD company. my mrs has gone back to work after maternity. she has a part time job at a local firm, 24hrs a week. so far she is acting as a sole trader and she invoices them direct every month… my question is – would it be in our interests for me to invoice her employers through my LTD company and pay her a salary? They (her employers) seem to think it would? she is already a shareholder fwiw.

Ah right, thanks. so its an AV receiver i need. How are folks under 40 supposed to know this stuff… 😉

still, would you bother 5.1 in 2017 or just go soundbar?? that Denon thing is a big ugly brute, dunno where id put it…

i already have all the speakers and the sub, just no junction for connecting them to the tv. i had no idea they were such pricey bits of kit. could even replace my old sound bar with a pretty smart new one for a lot less than the price of some amps ive been looking at… im not that arsed about premium quality audio, just the tv in its own sounds shit.

its difficult to search when you dont really know what you’re looking for, but nothing will ever sound impressive enough for me to spend >£500.

will probably just end up using the old soundbar…

please, what Amp for surround sound?

this is a slight hijack sorry, we have just moved house, the previous occupants had a small sitting room for TV duties that had 4No Bose speakers in each corner. i asked and paid extra for them to leave them behind (as i really didnt want exposed holes in the walls as they’re all chased in) so now im left with a bunch of wires poking out of the wall behind the tele but nothing to plug them into.
I assume i need some kind of amp? what kind of amp do i need? ive never had an amp before, kind of feels a bit old fashioned? – i have a soundbar from the old house that i just plugged in via optical, job done!

i wonder what it’ll mean for White Room. either they’ll be reaping the rewards with loads of extra business, or folk are gonna wary of paying out for a holiday with a British guiding company in France!? Hopefully the former, and hopefully someone else will step into TA shoes and provide similar in Les Arcs….

i think he means riding up to the Hare & Hounds then up the holcombe old road (cobbles) which is fine but a fair bit out of your way. You can go up Dundee Lane, turn left onto Downfield close. carry up the steps then your on a nice path to the back o’shoulder. balls to the rake!

interesting thread this. looking for similar ideas myself having just moved.

as mentioned above the old house i had a gravel border that was perfect, except that the fence behind it took a battering! ive also recently bought a mobile washer thats good if ive driven, but 90% of the time its from the door…

Another original binners commission, an unoriginal idea blatantly nicked from these pages but adapted to show Summerseat Viaduct, Holcombe hill (with me aboard bike + dog) Scout Moor, Winter Hill and the Reebok in the distance. A heathery, greeny grey colour scheme to match the local terrain and a bit of geographical bastardisation et voila…

ive been 3 times for a week each and still never seen a stage show or been to the Grand Canyon!

Done the rollercoasters and the waterpark but really we used to just pick a casino and pretty much hang out there all afternoon playing the tables and boozing until the clubs opened again.

I must be nearly 10 years older than i was the last time though so i think i’d be after a different experience these days.

I have no idea what they’re saying. I read one review in a mag which actually used the words “heroically funny” (whatever that means). Apart from that just saw the trailer when I saw T2 (not Terminator, you berk) and have seen the poster. That’s what I based my nonsense on and now I know it has “jazz” in it I’ll never be persuaded otherwise.

well you didnt like The Lego Movie so theres **** no hope.

saw it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. i haven’t really indulged in any of the backlash nonsense (that pretty much any film with a degree of critical success gets) but i can imagine what theyre saying. loved the soundtrack and was skipping down the street as i left the pictures!

i have one too. also DL’d the snide maps as per the DC rainmaker article.

cant fault it, other than when trying to navigate at night an the backlight goes out! im sure there are settings i can fiddle with to sort that… love creating routes on strava to just drag/drop onto the unit! battery is great, always get 3 or 4 rides before i feel like charging it again, it has never died on me tho.

Had mine a while now, first set of pads gave up really quicly, the replacement set still going strong. i replaced the sweet p bushwacker with the montaro because of sweat pissing in my eyes. the problem has gone away.

we have it. where before there was only gravel. looking at the state of the grass over the fence either side of ours i can see why the previous owners got rid of it. soft, muddy, mossy mess. doesnt get enough rays or the soil is shit I dunno? but we wanted somewhere the kids and dog could run around without getting wet & muddy feet so we went for artificial. i went for the most expensive stuff they did, its not a massive area, and it looks alright. not as nice as a well kempt lawn of course but was the best option for us an we like it.

slight hijack, but where would the best place to go for a standard family all inclusive beach holiday type job – where i could still sneak off for a couple of hours riding a few times a week?

i would have no problem in using a TC if i could ride to it from my front door… but if im gonna drive for an hour somewhere i probably wouldnt choose one. saying that, met a mate a degla before crimbo and had a reet good blast!!

We have a tele on the wall in the bedroom. we lost the remote about 3yrs ago and were never arsed enough to look for it, it has never been on since and we have never missed it.

i could be without the downstairs one too but wife & kids still enjoy all the reality shows and prime time saturday night drivel.
