but then the Scotsman in me would hate to turn up at the place and find out I could have gotten lessons at half the price if I’d been a bit more patient! Decisions, decisions….argh!

Im fairly certain that would never happen. if anything they will offer discount for booking early/online. they will aim to pull your pants down in resort.

nothing is ever cheaper in resort! look at reserving your hire equipment in advance too…

went riding in the summer with the fella who runs Progression Ski & Snowboard School in Val. recommend giving them a shout… we always book our kids lessons well in advance – be a nightmare to arrive and discover there is no space!! less of a problem somewhere like val tho i suspect?

my interpretation is those guys who knock about the pubs in Abersoch in their huge Musto ocean fairing goretex jackets, with rolled up chinos and deck shoes – who dont even own a boat!

i take it you dont have kids to entertain!! sounds bliss

nah tbh, i couldnt sit there for two weeks either, happily for a few days, but then id have to break it up with a day out…

ive decided im not entertaining that kind of holiday again unless i can take my bike… love the idea of getting up early, smashing out a little ride, and get back for a late breakfast with the fam… then normal service can resume – bar!

ok I am about to press the button on a M-L 2017 standard Tectal. just hope there are no new 2018’s about to ‘drop’ as they they – other than the Spin…

    Very helpful. many thanks.

Just seen the Spin on bikerumour. not really feeling the gloss finish.

Will there be a new version of the standard Tectal for 2018 too?

Went to see The Greatest Showman last night!! big camp musical extravaganza! a total shonky cheese fest but i absolutely loved it. proper film!!

When you walk out the cinema with a big grin on your face and realise its still there when you get home you know its a good un!

To think my favourite movies of recent times were things like Tyrannosaur & Dead Mans Shoes, i have reached an age where this is what i want from a film… foot tapping joy! and any father with 2 girls story is gonna tug at the heart strings too.

mahalo – what are the £4.99 details? I can’t seem to find it  listed on the Vue website

Participating Vue Cinemas: Aberdeen, Barrow, Bury, Cheshire Oaks, Cleveleys, Darlington, Farnborough, Gateshead, Halifax, Hamilton, Hartlepool, Hull, Lancaster, Livingston, Manchester Lowry, Manchester Printworks, Norwich, Merthyr, Romford, Southport, Swansea, Thanet and York.

Purchase a ticket for a 2D film in a standard seat and you will pay only £4.99.

they are pedal assist, not rev and go. climbing is BORING. if i can ride twice as far / do twice as many descents in the same allotted time as my normal ride, why the hell wouldn’t I?

you are still outdoors, on your bike, pedalling away – how is that lazy?

i haven’t got one btw, but i frickin want one.

is there anyone else in the area offering uplifts other than Roost and Switchbacks. we seem to have missed their seasons…

i never even tried a big mac till i was 30 odd. delicious!

im not a massive fan of the maccies, but sometimes you need a hit.

but, i find you get the same fix from the plain little hamburger as you do a dock off triple decker.

either way you end up full of regret and ultimately still hungry.

we are looking at going last weekend in April or first in May (maybe 2nd if bank holiday affects prices too much) either way we appear to have just missed the roost and switchbacks season…

Our digs are a little bit further out than i had thought. could really do with an uplift for a couple of days then maybe a big pedal out on the other day.

looks like about 10 mile spin along the coast to the telecabine at Benalmadena.

if you take the telecabine and descend straight back down that 911 or R4 say, how easy is to roll back to the telecabine?

also from the top of the telecabine, can you ride the ridge over towards the Mijas trails?

i always make a point of seeing all the award contenders every year.  still to see The Post which im looking forward to. Phantom Thread and The Shape of water which i am not so much. Three Billboards is great, Darkest Hour is all about the performance of one man rather than being a particularly good film. Dunkirk, fantastic. Lady Bird i saw this weekend, meh. but my favourite by far is Get Out.

enjoying Vue’s £4.99 initiative at the moment. took the kids to see Coco and Early Man recently. both amazing.

Just been out for a spin at the local lunchtime jump spot as i liked to call it… (the small area south of Mytchett Pl Rd, Tunnel Hill Table Topm / Grinder / Psycho Spiral as theyre known on strava..)

its gone. they’ve flattened the lot.

the big step up, the fallen tree drop, the table top, all the other little kickers and drops dotted around the place. its total devastation.

    the absolute F”£$%^&*&^%$£”£$%^&^%$£”$%^&*’s

    gutted :(

i live in Rammy and commuted to Manchester for a good 10 years by car, was an absolute breeze if i left early enough. miles cheaper than 2 trams fares if wor lass is travelling too. there used to be plenty of dodgy carparks as well, basically a patch of baron wasteland some scrotes had commandeered and they would charge you £3 for the day…. i imagine NCP have ran em all out of town by now tho, or theres a skyscraper there instead…

but i do think it is too far out for your needs, and if you did want to use public transport it would be a ball ache.. id be listening to suggestions of South East, Stockport or Macclesfield… although the trains are not great. I work in London now and everyone is always fuming with SouthWest trains which i always find an absolute dream compared to northern rail!!

wait, so you guys literally cry at hearing certain songs?

    like all out blubbing?

i have not cried since i was a child, sure ive welled up once or twice, like when the girls were born or watching Toy Story 3, but never had to properly let it all out – certainly not to a pop song.

wow that must be a fantastic release!

this is a slight hijack as ive not made it yet but wanted some practical advice from you genii…

my mrs has been bugging me for one of them suspended clothes airers, pulleymaids.

i have decided to make one out of a pair of old skis. i have the skis, the pulleys and the rope

i am just looking for suggestions on how best to bridge the two skis together? i can easily use a piece of timber bolted to the skis at each end but wondering what else i could do…
