its a sure fire way of winding up all the local employees

how would they know? how would the employer even know? pretty sure i could have been anywhere in the world for the last 12 months without any issues or anyone at work knowing..?

just go for 90 days at a time… if i wasnt tied down at home id definitely give it go.

mother & father in-law are cash only. they’re the type who keep a couple of G stashed under the mattress!

christmas and birthdays for us and the kids we get cash gifts. or we buy for the kids online and they gives us the cash! i even have to shop for them online and they give me cash back!!

they are not particularly ancient or steadfast, just have a staunch distrust and disregard for any of this virtual money business, or divulging any personal info. They have mobile phones, braodband, ipad etc – but they go into the post office to pay their bills!! supermarket, stood at the checkout peeling of pound notes to pay with! holidays, cars, tradesmen you name it – cash.

i have even set up a Monzo account with £100 quid in it just so they can try paying for things online or contactlessly – and really easy to use app to show them how easy and safe it is – never been touched!!

    they’ll be screwed!

i was shouted at by someone yesterday… ‘oi mind the dog you effing dick’ i thought i gave them plenty of time and space, i held back off the pace till i saw a chance to overtake then went for it, giving them a wide berth.

i dont like this conflict, its very rarely happened to me. i walk my dogs and kids up this trail quite often too so can understand where they might have been coming from, but no need for the aggression. ive been using this trail twice a week or so for 20 years without incident. these lot come out for their once a year ramble and start throwing their weight around.

cant wait for the Trafford Centre to reopen!

To make the point that you’re in the middle lane of the motorway yet shouldn’t be.

there it is; exactly the point i was about to make.

Well my first attempt didn’t go great. I did manage to borrow the gas burner adapter but struggled to find anywhere to sell me a bottle of gas. Finally managed to nick one from my mums bbq. With all this we decided to just get the ready rolled bases from tesco… kin ell. Could not get it off the parchment at first, then we just plucked it off and re rolled it. Eventually I stuck one in the freezer for a bit I’m and this was a revelation.

When I came to cooking tho, they were all too soft & doughy in the middle and charred and crispy round the edges. I like the charred edges but nobody else did.

Having said all that tho they were bloody delicious. Just need to refine my technique and definitely make our own dough in future.

I agree about the amazing spaces. Tonight we had another wreck of a box on wheels turned into a poor glamping pod. The pointless George folly project he watches will build trying to make it sound clever and innovative. And how to take 2 t4s and end up with less space than if you just has 1 and did it properly

generally agree, especially the terrible t4 caravan, but i thought the railway carriage was ace!

what was funny; its true he repeats everything 3 times!! never noticed before, will never not notice now! and that t4 caravan was terrible!! see the size of the kids beds, then it cut to two giant almost teenage opposite sex kids!!

the had huge curtain in the bedroom…

i liked the fires and fireplaces, but hate poncey staircases like those. not a fan of those open plan bedroom/ensuites either with nowt but a floating wall between my head on the pillow and the mrs releasing a flock of seagulls first thing in a morning.

wondered what the situation with his mother were, if they had any dollar would they not have lived in more salubrious digs for the past decade? i reckon once they pop it they will just sell off the annexe? dunno what the house prices are like round there but probably recoup a fair chunk of the (as seen on tv) project cost.

that pond is probably a good place for dumping unsightly submersible shite when you cba going to the tip.. id have one!

2 men on a remote little river beach at the weekend. the guy stood up straight must have been having trouble with his flies or something as his mate was on his knees trying to help… he got up pretty sharpish when they heard me so must’ve sorted it…?

Chase discusses the movie on that podcast mentioned earlier.

Young Tony is played by Gandolfini’s son!

cant wait for it either, but in fairness all 86 episodes were like movies anyway – it will be like an extra length episode!

they are all aesthetically abhorrent. especially when unused and neglected.

i held out until we had an area of garden to accommodate one that was out of sight… tbf the kids do use it quite a lot. 12ft, net inside the springs job.

As with most things its all about not over doing it. Take TVs:

    TVs on walls are fine.

TV’s on walls so high up its like sitting at the front row of the cinema are not fine.

TV’s on the wall so high up because they are above the fake mantlepiece in your new build that doesn’t have a chimney are ghastly.

TV’s on the feature wall so high up because they are above the fake mantlepiece which is also liberally decorated with “LOVE” and “HOME” ornaments strategically positioned to catch the light from the LED downlighters, well you get the point.

TV’s built into fake chimney breasts with full width glass box gas fires…

ha those modern front doors with full height handles are my pet peeve, but theyve been done to death… bifolds was another.

we have just completed an extension, made the standard big open plan kitchen / living space room. didnt go for bifolds, but got full height/length timber framed glazing at the back with french doors..

looks nice, but im not really comfortable in there. much prefer to sit in the snug with the fire on!

I can ride to my local trails easily, probably less than 2 miles. However I do sometimes drive those 2 miles if I bring the dogs on my ride, or if I’m carrying tools etc. Don’t plan on changing my routine.

For someone who normally works away during the week I’ve clocked 183 mtb rides this year according to Strava. That’s just over every other day of the year!! I’m absolutely thrilled with that. Mostly local, mostly quite short, there hasn’t been many days out or weekends away and the overall mileage isn’t very impressive – but no commutes, no zwift, no tarmac; just 183 proper little shreds in the woods! Well happy

probably 80% solo. i like to ride spontaneously so just jump on my bike and head out whenever an opportunity presents itself… but we have the regular group rides too.

i will 99% of the same stuff as i would with others. must admit there are one or two large drops near us that i tend to give a miss when alone.

saying that, i find i can ride the steepest techy stuff better on my own when im not under pressure to keep up/maintain the gap behind me! i take my time, pick my lines and keep my feet up… when im with the lads its basically an out of control high speed tripod!!
