Every one of these threads i get my mind blown with watts and amps and volts and currents and raisins…

    Simple question.

If i wanted to ride my ebike in two different spots one day, an hour apart say, is there a 12v fag lighter inverter i can plug into my normal car battery while i drive between them, just to top it up a bit?

Im not after off grid, full charges. just a fifty quid little booster?

I will sit and watch em on Discovery+ through Sky (dont think it costs me any extra!?) if im doing nowt. There has been some odd scheduling this season and much reduced hype meaning ive completely missed some races – like didnt even know they were happening!

I still find it incredibly exciting to watch, especially at the sharp end (how can you not be blown away by Pierron’s winning run at Les Gets!?) but Its definitely lost its edge without Warner, and the tracks are becoming more and more less interesting, but the racing is great, its just being let down by the coverage.

One thing is for sure tho, never miss Wyn TV from the pits afterwards – that is primo content!

Has anyone tried the wild enduro front on the rear? I’ve been using the front and rear for a while and have a few part worn sets knocking about. I just fitted a pair tonight for the e-bike and like a numpty I have installed two Fronts! But after the initial face palm the front on the rear started to look pretty mean! I’m sure it won’t last five minutes but I think I’ll give it a bash…

    thanks all for your inputs.

Im not too bothered about travelling over once or twice as i would make a holiday out of it, but yeah multiple repeat visits would be a ball ache…

I mean the thought of ripping out perfectly health teeth to drill in a train ticket smile like that is bonkers to me but obvioulsy that does go on, and that’s the overriding misconception turkey teeth has.

i already have the gaps. its just a couple of implants, at about 1/3 of the cost in UK. what could go wrong lol

I did wonder why In BK and MJ’s vids they didn’t approach the jump from higher up the track? Im not familiar with the place but when they were testing other sections they appeared to arrive at the bottom of the jump somehow? then scrambled back across to hit it – perhaps there is no track above it….

Before Covid I used to commute to London every week, stay 3 nights head home Thursday and WFH Friday.  Now I just WFH all the time with periodic 1 or 2 night visits to the capital once a month maybe. London is fantastic place but I could never live there, so I’m happy with the current arrangement and the off night away breaks up the monotony a bit…

I do feel like I could do my job from anywhere in the world right now tho, I often fantasise about moving to a mountain hut in the alps or a boat in the Aegean, but reality of mortgages, wife’s job, kids school, elderly relatives and all that shite bring me back down to earth… plus I always question would it actually be as good as it sounds? How much time would i actually get to spend skiing or riding or sailing or whatever. And if all these great things became the norm, what would I have to look forward to??

    Great stuff thanks.

In terms of steep tech rather than big features, which would you say are the most full-on?

we stayed here a couple of years ago, https://www.pods-pwllcoch.co.uk/ middle of nowhere but close to Moelfre and the beach at Traeth Lligwy. From the site we walked up Parys Mountain to the Copper Mine which was really impressive.

no pubs of any note tho sadly. little convenience store about a mile away is your lot.

    just booked Madeira for July.

fly back quite late on the last day but probs have to leave Funchal too early to spend the day with Freeride, esp if they are on the other side of the island!

Still plenty of time to ride though, just wondered what the options were to ride out of Funchal itself? dont mind a big pedally loop after 4 days shuttled..

    Cheers

can easily ride from home with a steady 20 min road spin to the woods. However, very often i still drive up – the way i look at it is, its an extra 40mins on the good stuff.
Will happily ride from home if time allows, but riding habits change and at the moment its little and often rather than a big one once a week…
We live about 1.5hrs from south Lakes, peaks or north wales. used to to visit these places all the time, almost weekly. have not been in at least 12 months!?

@tonyd my kids have watched Gremlins for years and only recently did I clock that scene! Managed to talk my way out of it; it was her dad dressed up not the real one, the real one will still have turned up etc etc but always wonder if they are pretending to believe now… there should be a writers code never to alude to that in anything no matter the rating!

in other news. Lots of classics here but the best modern-ish one I’ve seen is ‘The Night Before’ probs not for young families but PMSL!

Step mother had a contract for a couple of years in Dublin ( turned out to be 5 or 6 years in the end)

They ( her and my old man) lived in Skerries.
small seaside town up the coast from Dublin. They absolutely loved it and so did we whenever we visited. Beautiful! No idea about camp sites or owt but would definitely recommend.

I don’t know what it’s like in the rest of the country, but I wish the local authority round here would do something about all these houses being slathered in K-rend! white boxes with anthracite windows, printed concrete driveways and plastic gardens everywhere!! Hideous trend! We live in a conservation area and we had to jump through hoops to get planning permission for a small extension with most of our ideas refused yet anyone can do that to their perfectly nice houses…

i jest of course. i was gonna write how well it aged. I re-watched some Royle Family recently and they wouldnt get away with some of that stuff nowadays, Jim calling Anthony a puff etc; but Early Doors doesnt really have any of that – then i realised that the regulars of the Grapes are not exactly a very diverse bunch!

    still. perfect TV!

Ive got two bags of the shakes gathering dust in the cupboard. not really a fan, i like toast too much!

Keen to try the hot and savoury stuff though, i certainly struggle with lunches in the week… but need some samples before i drop another £60+ quid on a glorified pot noodle.

    can you get samples anywhere?

edit: looked on ebay, samples £7 delivered for one portion! fk that. there are plenty of full bags tho for £20ish – mostly Mac & Cheese!! :D

i bought a gravel bike under similar circumstance. been used about 4 or 5 times, gravel riding is pretty shit. not as shit as road riding but just does not provide that mtb fix. in fairness i have enjoyed some longer rides, when the conditions have been perfect, that i wouldnt bother doing on my mtb. i thought id use it more in winter but its definitely only getting used in summer if i keep it.

where i work i can build up 30mins of flexi per day then every couple of weeks have a free day off and just go riding all day somewhere!! dont even tell the fam what im up to!! works for us.

Serious question. Is anyone genuinely thinking of taking their bikes instead of skis if this season doesn’t improve? Would it actually be viable? Suppose gondolas would be ok but chairlifts won’t have the bike holders fitted? Would they allow to you ride the trails in winter? Or If we were to do a big back country pedal out – what would conditions be like?

Got a weekend in chamonix coming up in a couple of weeks… got La Plagne booked for march too – La Plagne snow cover looks fine tbf, but who knows about spring time…

not got the superlatives to do White Lotus justice!! easily my favourite show ever

Traitors, not so keen. The bit at the round table was alright, and the little breakout gossip sessions – but too much filler on the whole. had zero interest in the tasks and all that nonsense. and didnt really enjoy the breakfast room ‘reveal’ format.

i will watch the knives out films and Pinocchio next…

Poorly judged attempt at satirical humour. if Charlie Brooker has said it there would be no issue.

not defending him, ive never liked him. but that fact its caused such a stir is detriment to our society.

i like it when snowflakes have their feathers ruffled.

Never really liked mine, nothing particularly wrong with it, just was never that excited to ride it… since changing the only thing I miss is the pedalling/ climbing position – so comfortable! And for for such a hefty lass it did climb like a dream. But I’m not in it for the climbs and ultimately could never get over how heavy it was. Lot to be said about raw frames tho – sold it after 10 months and it still looked immaculate!

    I’d avoid Rapanui.

Rubbish QC, variable sizing, poor fit, shrinks etc etc

yea was gonna say they dont wash well, but learnt how to deal with that.. disagree regards QC and fit.

I live in Hoodies. Especially since WFH all the time. I don’t like graphics or slogans tho. I have a couple of the A&F popover ones, super comfy but wouldn’t last well in the garage… I also have a couple of the madison roam softshell jackets that were going cheap on freewheel, essentially a zip up hoodie that’s too nice to ride in.. and my other go-to is Rapanui… had lots of hoodies (tees and sweatshirts) from them over the years.
