Ah right. Could just go simplest/most direct and go straight through the wall with the window?

Ours is a fan recessed light combo that therefore goes up through the ceiling. It then goes out through a vent in the sofit under the gutters. Neat and tidy.

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/kmc-missing-link-remover-pliers/rp-prod46600 Don’t believe SRAM (or whoever) when they say 10 and 11 speed quick links aren’t re-usable.

Although if you get a chain cleaner (cheap on-one ones are good) + some of this there is no need to remove them – 5 mins and they are gleaming whatever lube/muck combination you have!

Get some mates – then one watches the bikes while the other gets the beer (or whatever it is you get from cafes)

They can get pretty damn sketchy when the water helps the green stuff grow on them. I’ve certainly had the clacker valve going big time in those conditions!!

Last time I did them the main central line down the top one was obviously dodgy from a visual inspection. Headed right and through a puddle to far more grip down that side…

Yep Auto pause will do that. It can’t handle going very slow, some tight switchbacks etc…. No need to have it on I can think of so turn it off.

On my Smuggler I found that just pulling ’em tight and then securing tightly with cable ties on the points designed for just that got rid of rattle

You can buy new axles http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/pedal-spares-shimano-dept975_pg1/%5B/url%5D but it’s cheaper to just buy some new XT pedals which only weigh a fraction more and last a whole lot longer!

Has the tip of the axle snapped off?

I didn’t even notice my newest bike had them (after months of riding and being used to 31.8 on older bikes) until I double checked the spec!

I suspect any “normal” rider would be the same?

Only about half hour drive to Ambergate for some quality MTB… or this is similar away http://mountainbikerides.co.uk/routes/128-the-peak-district/13-hollinsclough.html

Eastridge, Hopton, Bucknall or Long Mynd. I regularly drive past Cannock to get to that area for the riding!!

The other thing worth mentioning is quite a bit of it has been subject to some serious forestry action of late. Piste and off-piste affected in some places.

One of these makes replacing an outer a doddle http://www.tweekscycles.com/components/seatpost-spares/rockshox-reverb-stealth-barb-connector

You get one free with a Reverb but they work with brake hoses and gear outers too

Got myself one for Xmas for shorter rides/no sweaty back/see how it is reasons (was gonna get a normal but smaller Camelbak)

I had to work out that I needed the bladder and tube “the other way round” to how it came then I could operate it easier (right handed).

Piss taking from mates – as expected.

One disadvantage is you can’t just spit the tube out mid-drink when you suddenly need to pay full attention to riding because it’ll be hanging down and in a wheel or somewhere…

Had some issue with belt loosening whilst in use but I think some of this may be purely my imagination or possibly my fat belly combined with winter clothing?

To be honest the jury is still out….

I use ’em for racing but this time of year my favoured eye protection is a front mudguard due to steaming up issues (glasses and goggles)

Perhaps if you all subtract the hours spent on this forum and other bike related internet then it wouldn’t seem so bad? ;)

Shocks me how much time some people give to work too.

Honestly, we don’t just say it in case our wives have been reading our posts..

I didn’t say you were. And I’m not saying kids aren’t great for their parents – I’m just trying to say that he should ignore that comment because every parent loves their kids and thinks parenthood is great i.e. you are all somewhat biased

When people do say it (not type it) though it does sometimes sound to me like they are more trying to convince themselves it’s true than me! ;)

At 25 I definitely didn’t want kids. I’m 48 now and still don’t. No regrets. I have been with my partner/wife 20 years now and she didn’t want them either – however there was never any “if you do I don’t” type of ultimatum discussed from either side back when it was still an option. I think we both just made sure we had similar opinions in the important areas before any serious commitment?

You should chill and keep enjoying yourselves until something different seems to be a good idea – or if it doesn’t then carry on.

As an aside – ignore all the comments about “kids being the best thing ever” – what the hell else is any parent ever going to say?

And anyone who has had kids “to look after you when you’re old” has had them for the wrong reason and will probably be very disappointed with their offspring when the time comes!

If you don’t think any of them are worth voting for you should at least turn up and write that on the ballot paper: http://www.votenone.org.uk/protest_votes_count.html

Remember millions of people have died over the years so that you still have the right to go write on that piece of paper.

Not many places will take on a “junior” developer as they would rather have someone who requires less training/support etc however positions do exist.

Good way in might be as application support / devops type role then move into programming?

I can probably dig out a GPX if you email me. It’s an easy and fairly obvious route out the bottom end of Pines along the old railway trail to Bilsthorpe – then a short bit of road north – then through Cutts Wood – then through Rufford (cheeky) – round the back of the carting – short bit of woods near Centre Parks – bridleway down to Edwinstowe – by the river as mentioned above to pick up Sustrans route into back of Pines then as much of Pines as you like to complete the loop….

I think they are ace especially now I’ve got a helicopter to put it on too!

Seriously: I like filming and editing as well as riding. Obviously they are of most interest if “you were there” but you ain’t got to watch them! Much better than all the rubbish camera phone video that’s for sure!

Like prawny I find trawling Youtube prior to going somewhere new can be handy for checking out the riding potential too.
