The Magura doc doesn’t specifically list a Post Mount rear 180.

I already have a PM to PM 180 on the front so I’ll try it when I get home…. If my memory is right though it won’t work?

I’ve found a photo here http://forums.mtbr.com/showpost.php?p=7730016&postcount=14 Which I think partly answers my question: The rear is different to the front! And I need an adapter like in the photo contained in that link.

Probably because that with some slightly longer bolts is all you need

No it’s not. Because of the angles involved it’s a bit more complex. Check the link Mister P posted. If what you say were the case then both ends of that adapter would be the same length.

and by the way you missed a / in your end quote.

Yeah but I don’t want the A2Z one as if you read on wiggle for the same: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/a2z-adapter-pm-to-pm-160mm-to-180mm/. It’s actually just a couple of big washers!

I also think the rear works different to the front for some reason – that’s what I wanted to check?

    Possible advantages:

You can mince down massive hills (mountains I believe they are called?) dragging your brake the whole way without cooking it.

You can pile on the pounds big time and you’ll still be able to stop.

Tried some bog standard black shoe polish and it’s come up a treat :)

White shorts/trousers are not in my wardrobe. Think it’d have to be black polish initially to get the thing looking half decent?

Cheers vinnyeh. I’m in the midlands so thanks very much for the offer but logistics probably mean its a no. Got any pictures to tempt me further?

I’ve emailed the bike chain via their web site and also rung rutland Water (local to me) to enquire about availability…

    Cheers Captain all good info.

I rekon the HD 140 and Blur LT are now added to the list…

they also have the added advantage of being availble frame only which the Lapierre and Ghost are not. So I can use some existing bits off the Hustler (e.g. not very old Revs)

    Decisions decisions

Anyone know the answer to my earlier question about whether the Blur still has daft pivot bearing sizes?

    MadPierre

why complain about the price of said ‘dream machines’ then follow up with ‘budget not a problem’?

It’s not a problem but I still want best value for whatever budget gets spent so e.g. comparing a Trek to a Lapierre the Trek looses on value…

    MadPierre

so if you were struggling to accept the price of that…

that wasn’t the main issue and like I said money whilst not exactly irrelevant wasn’t my main issue when I checked out a mojo SL a while ago.

Guess one problem with it is getting a look at one / actually getting one? Where did you get yours?

Hmmm… wasn’t aware of the HD 140. that could make me re-think on Ibis.

I assume it has a bit more room tyre wise than the SL I looked at? And as they’ve changed the steerer tube vs an SL too does that mean “normal” (I use that very loosely in this day and age!) headsets are in too?

They were the main things that put me off the SL

Scott Genius = too much travel (it has more than my DH bike!)

The Yeti is a possibility – a friend has one of those but its too small for me to try proper. He does say he can feel the rear end flexing though compared to his old alu version.

Does the Blur still have daft (half metric/half imperial) bespoke pivot bearing sizes like the original Blurs? Or have they changed that?

I’ve crashed plenty over the years on FSA Gravity carbon bars. Few scratches but that’s it. Two pairs still going strong and I’d buy again.

VC won’t be lightweight if it is muddy – which is looking extremely likely! Yes its doable on a crosser.

I’m not far away in Melton but its now the time of year when a long drive is needed to escape the local mud.

Neil from Pure has seen this thread and been in touch directly. Only trouble is no i7 in stock for a month….. although another month without one won’t hurt.

    Finally some replies!

The Rockshox one is gonna be 30.9 only I believe – might be worth waiting if that’s wrong?

A mate had the gravity dropper and I fixed it for him when it stopped working. I wasn’t impressed with it and he has swapped it for a KS900 now too.

I have ridden a Joplin and it had more slop than a whores draws at knocking off time! I definitely noticed it and again the mate that had it has now got rid.

The two current favourites would have to be the Rase or the new KS i7…..

So where would I get a shim for 27.2 to 30?

Got some cheap and cheerfull 2RS from eBay (because as you say that size is expensive for branded) in the main pivot. However they look pretty good and already had plenty of grease in them when they arrived. Got a complete spare set too so won’t be too bothered if they don’t last too long…

I use Weldtite (or Halfords – same stuff!) Teflon grease in all my bearings. Seems to work and last well.

Can’t remember what brand the existing bearings were but they’ve lasted a good while? 3 years probably?

Cheers kaesae but I’m pretty experienced with bearing changes. I always pop the seals on all my mtb bearings and grease them up before fitting. Ordered some SKF.

Stu: I do have a vernier but was hoping to avoid the hassle – especially as they are still in with bolts through em!

kaesae: Cheers I’ll get some ordered. Running some 2RS. Can’t remember what brand – they’ve lasted well since the last change hence me not remembering the size!

On the ground there is a proper bridleway signed up and down along that edge of the reservoir – think its a combination of the black dashes and a couple of footpaths on that (out of date!) map?

Sorry for the lack of feedback – been in Morzine all last week! Bike came back the day before we went.

BETD turned it round in a week. Looks like the job is a good one but I've not re-built the bike yet due to the afore mentioned holiday….

BETD is 45 quid ( + 30 if you want both sides doing). I'll be stripping it down this weekend and sending it off next week. I'll let you know how I get on?
