I’ve got 2 sets of Revs which replaced 2 sets of Pikes (1 set of Pikes still in use on another bike) and I can’t tell the diffrence flex wise? Mine are all 20mm axles. Maybe I’m not good enough to notice?

I can tell the difference in damping though – the revs are way better.

I thought Sektors were Revelations with a less sophisticated damper?

which pretty much equals a Pike of old

    I’m grumpy after a ride if I don’t have a pint!

Protein shakes! Pah! Beer and nuts (protein) and talking sh*te in the pub is part of the whole biking thing.

As for inflation, CO2 cartridge is your best friend

    Confirming my thoughts against TR…

You didn’t wait long enough for your tires to seal.

Think it was about a month before riding! How long do I need!!!!

    Schwalbe Tubeless Ready = Poo

That could be it? But would I risk a different brand…?

Hassle free tubeless tyres = Maxxis LUST

I won’t argue with that. That’s where I’ve always been before.

It took my nevegal about 2 days of shaking and laying on each side before it would hold air,

    Confirming my thoughts against TR…

have you placed horizontal one side 10 – 15 min then tuned over and done the same to other. helps to seal properly.

Confirming my thoughts against TR… Actually the front one seems to go down when it is horizontal and stay up when vertical. The rear appears to do the opposite!

They leaked milk through the walls for a few days

    Confirming my thoughts against TR…

Do the product codes on the box match the ones on the web.

Dunno? The box is long gone but it definitely had “Tubeless Ready” written on it. They were from on one.

    To summarise:
So it would seem in general that TR = far more of a pain in the arse than proper UST and that Schwalbe are maybe the worst of a bad bunch?

I shall persevere for a while to see if things improve but it looks like I’ll be back to proper UST next time I’m shopping for tyres.

    sad news indeed

Knicker trees come and go but I believe there is still one hidden away in the Nottinghamshire woods complete with ripped up porn mags and used tissues all over the floor if you are desperate?

It makes sense otherwise you would damage the remote lever when you turn the bike upside down to change wheels etc.

Only if you do that. Personally I never do…

    MadPierre

Lots of people do that. Personally I don’t but it makes **** all difference to it working so knock yourself out!

On a related subject I’ve got a blind bearing puller set but the collet for 8mm has bust. Anyone know where I can get a spare?

Just to clarify I’m nothing to do with NATS (apart from doing the ORTP every year when it were on!). I wouldn’t want to tarnish their reputation with our drunken bike riding on Saturday!

If you are going 2 x 10 then 26/38 with 11-36 gives you a big range. I was worried when I swapped to it but can spin up all them Peaks climbs same as I could with 22 32 on the old triple.

Whistler as ever was pretty damn good http://mountainbikerides.co.uk/video/17-whistler/388-whistler-bike-park-august-2011.html

But I’ve enjoyed all the riding I’ve done. The fact that the local clay was the driest it’s been for years and stayed that way for so long was very pleasant.

    I own a KS and a reverb.

Buy a reverb. It’s way better and user servicable. My KS has gone wrong and had to go back because it’s not.

I wonder if there’ll be some mental free riding when they hit BC. ;)

He will be mountain biking so that should give you some food for discussion.

When we were on holiday with Bear Back Biking last year Mark was telling us about them guiding him. They went up above the snow line and blatted down some snow and stuff…. said he wasn’t afraid and fairly good for someone who’s not an experienced push bike rider.

Mates with Alpines all have another “lighter, more all purpose” bike for anything that requires much pedalling.

so anyway if we could veer away from road vs indoor back on track:

If I go TT what should I be looking at?
If I go static what should I be looking at?

Specific types of technology better than others? Specific brands better than others?

Wet, cold, dark = mountain bike night ride NOT road ride. It’s bloody bad enough on a clear sunny day. Note: I’ve only done 1 road ride all year in teh light!

….and then there’s cleaning the bike too

I do have a road bike (well a decent commuter bike) which would work with a turbo but the Mrs defo wouldn’t use it as she is disabled and wouldn’t be able to get on the thing – one of my reasons for tending towards the static bike. Having said that the “road” bike has been ridden once this year so at least it might get some use with a turbo!

No garage is a problem. It’s gonna have to be the spare room.

Gym/road biking is out. This is gonna be for quick “hour blast, no time for anything more” type of workouts.

I own one! (140mm setup) And I own a Hustler (Mojo was supposed to replace it but I kind of haven’t sold it yet!)

Lighter than Hustler, climbs better than Hustler. Does everything else as well as Hustler.

    Fine for all day rides

For those of you worried about the Terrible Twins here’s another old video of that. http://www.mountainbikerides.co.uk/video/16-scotland/139-dalbeattie-qthe-terrible-twinsq.html

My mate Baz (first on the video) double pinch flats on the first slab but just carries on rolling down so you shouldn’t worry about the run out with your tyres up!

    @wee-al

Sorry been on another trip! Whistler this time :-)

The Spanish Trails featured are in two main areas really. Local to Fuengirola and inland near El Chorro. If you want to ride ’em get in touch with Alan @ Sierra Cycling. They’ll sort out all the guiding and transport. I’ve been with them 3 times in the last couple of years.

Recently been uploading helmet cam from my trip to Spain in May: http://www.mountainbikerides.co.uk/video/19-spain.html

Top 10 or so in that list.

No nice editing or anything just plain old trail footage….

As others have said ignore the RS pressure guides: absolute bollox!

Always make sure you have slightly more +ve than -ve pressure else the travel is pulled down.

Pressure setting is a faff as setting +ve affects -ve and vice versa.

Once it’s right it’s good though.

I have two sets and they both very slowly loose a bit from +ve to -ve….

anyone got any tips for getting onto the slab

This helmet cam of mine from a few tears back shows the line: http://www.mountainbikerides.co.uk/video/16-scotland/143-dalbeattie-qthe-slabq.html

    Qualifier and slab.
