It’s back up, though more ‘realistically’ priced!

One of the guys in our research group had a 85yr old internal and 84 yr old external, both very well respected in our area. They went out for a big roast lunch before his viva. It was all done in about 40mins, they could both barely stay awake, sadly i don’t think that’ll work with my int and ext.

I’m trying to get mine written and finished, urgh.

The backlash in the 6 is probably down to the spring being tired or the sliding body being corroded / not sliding perfectly. Post up a pic…

Avoid the one with damage to the body,

It’s 230v and 50hz, It also states 1 phase mid way down the plate so i’d take that as a yes.

Has someone use the wrong wire to connect it? Drop the connector plate off the bottom, more than likely you find one of the wires is unused im guessing…

I had the joy of something similar a few years back. Left my car parked in brighton where i was working, came back to it the following morning to be greeted by a crumpled door, bumper and bonnet , suspension strut snapped and rims bent, not only where they impacted but where it had been thumped into the kerb on the other side. No note or witnesses, the company with cctv cameras opposite couldn’t be bothered to help.

A fun 300 mile tow truck home and a hefty repair bill for me….

If you do get one, try and find one with both the plain and swivel tables. I have only the swivel on mine and could do with the extra daylight the plain table gives. On the up side you mount angle plates / jobs directly without the bed in place giving a huge workspace.

Sadly, you see one or two come up in the uk a year.

Take a look at the Deckel FP1. Most have Metric scales as they were designed for the German Market, They are superb for awkard jobs and don’t have a huge footprint. Only one problem, you’ll spend ages hunting one out!

If you don’t allready know of it, this site is superb for info.

@Countzero, I don’t question whether you’re correct in the slightest, more curiosity.

feed them by hand, and even encourage them indoors

Have you seen this first hand or is it reported elsewhere?

I play squash couple of time a week and the above comments are excellent. The 1 thing I would add is get some descent shoes, it’ll keep your ankles in one piece and mine were worth every penny. I got Adidas stabils, you can of course spend much more but just make sure you get something that gives descent support else you’ll be off the bike aswell…

For trunks upto about 8-10″, we use a tirfor (so long as you’ve another bigger tree to strap it to and a stong enough tirfor of block and tackle).

Leave 3ft or so of the stump proud, use the chainsaw to make a groove to get the cable / rope into around the top and apply some tension bending it over, it’ll drag the roots up and set to with an axe. This worked really well on the 6 or so we did a couple of years back which had roots that spread out sideways, it’s not so great on ones that go straight down. It took about 2 hours to tear the stump and a good length of the roots out on the 6 we did, much quicker than digging and chopping hard way!

I await the several replies stating this is dangerous / stupid / doesn’t work.

Just Because they have taxed it doen’t mean the DVLA know. They could have taxed it with the tear off slip you give the new keeper. So long as it had an MOT at the time and was covered by insurance they can do it at a post office.

If it was covered by an explicit policy the police will be able to track it down, Though if it’s a dealer under a blanket policy i’m not sure if they could.

I’ve been in almost this same position, Project manager, QS, project engineer and company manager all watching a me ( A student in the summer years ago) dig a hole looking for a pipe vent. I’ll admit the implications of where is was / could have been made everyone quite nervous hense eagarly watching!

    Ammusing all the same.

I’d class them as the worst company i’ve ever had to deal with.

They were supposed to collect 2 parcels from me last week which i left out for them in a secure place which i had informed them to collect from. They are clearly labeled as yodel parcels. By chance i had a collection by UPS that same day so that was left near the Yodel parcels, again very clearly marked.

You can guess what’s comming i’m sure, Yodel turn up first and take all 3, unsurprisingly they loose the one that wasn’t theirs. After 7 trips to the depot they finally admit they took the additional parcel but havn’t got a clue what they have done with or or where it would be. After offering no adivce other than “it might turn up” they handed out some mobile numbers of people i can call who “might be able to help” on it’s route to the possible delivery address.

Just to make things better they then lost one of the parcels they should have picked up, but hey they’ll pay out pittance insurance on that one..

Best option? Call the police and report theft? Maybe that’ll focus the mind of the incompetent useless Yodel management?

I use UPS through interparcel, i use them for stuff of this size and weight with them quite often, they were the best I found after using many others. It’s about £10

Just onen thing, no matter how tempting it may be, don’t use Yodel!

First time out on a road bike last night after years of swearing i’d never do it, spotted a fiver by the side of the road.

Naturally, I handed it in at the local pub on the way home police station this morning.

    Lboro-ite here,

I thought it was a bit cheeky the woodwork. Jumped out of the second bombhole without knowing it was there straight into it, not what i expected, ammusing all the same. A side note, I’m not though convinced that swithland even needs that sort of thing, with some imagination there are some ammusing rock drops, even some gutsy ones that don’t attract attention and are far more severe than the woodwork was.

As above im through beacon hill in a flash either very first thing weekend morning or just before dusk. An frustrating number of walker placed obstructions at the bottom of a number of “cheeky” routes, but i guess that’s all par for the course!

I’d been looking for a SH road bike for a couple of months now, waiting for a local ish Cube attempt or such like. The prices seem to have jumped this last couple of weeks and loads more are dissapearing from ebay without finishing.

Looks like i’ll be spending more time on the mtbs until the winter, when they inevitably can’t stand the cold or realise it was a whim.
