I know this will be of no help.

    I’m 5’8″, 31″ inside leg (and older than you 🙁 ).

I have purchased the previous version of the Scandal in Medium, after year’s on an old school 26″.

I have felt that the top tube was slightly too short, but that could be because the bars are so wide to what I was used to, but overall the bike does feels long.

If small and a half is required, then a longer stem and narrower bars may be better as you can make a smaller bike ‘larger’, but impossible to make larger bike ‘smaller’.

( Smaller allows for more technical riding, than the medium, so it will ultimately depend upon what sort of riding you plan to do.

Regarding dropper post, I went for the 150 drop, and still has room to raise or lower.

When that video first came out, you couldn’t go passed a school without some kid shouting ‘DO A WHEELIE’…

Had to change my route, as I couldn’t do one, (but this video, always inspires me to try, (again)) 🙂

Oak Tree Inn for good grub at the fireside and decent coffee too. They also have a wee ‘village shop’ and a coffee shop for cake supplies.

NO!!!!, it’s crap, give it a wide, wide, berth. There are enough of the red socks brigades without getting multi coloured MTBs’ taking all the seats 🙂
Don’t tend to see many many skinny roadies there, perhaps the food’s to good.

Previous house had an internal oil fired boiler, and had a very old engineer to come and service it annually and repair it when it stopped working. He reckoned that the older boilers were more reliable and easier to fix (they are fairly basic mechanically).
Ours finally went due to a water leak, luckily it happened in September. Installed a new external Greenstar oil boiler, freeing up space internally and with no more oil smells. It wasn’t a big job labour wise and you can check the prices of boilers online.
As previous the cost was in the region of £4 – 5k about 6 years ago.

The distance the rear mech moves is in accordance with the shifter, and as long as the chain link width is not widely away from a 11 speed chain, it should work okay.

I bought another bike, (it was a bargain and couldn’t resist), but made sure it was the same make and (near) colour, and as long as I kept them apart, the fun police/ Financial Advisor didn’t notice, having about 6 or 7 other bikes help keep it hidden. 🙂

Thanks, was puzzled as I have never seen anything like that before.

(Can you tell I’m bored (WFH)).

That will explain the ‘mess’ on my car.

    Curse you Danny,

Rode passed a group of schoolkids today and they shout in unison

    ‘Do a Wheelie’

    Unfortunately I can’t, 🙁

If I did try I would have ended up just like Danny in his video. (and give the audience a good laugh).

I used to be a pusher of a pen and a shuffler of paper, but now I mainly just move a mouse around a pad and push a button occasionally.

I just saw them fly overhead and came online to check the websites, but nothing is showing up.

Should be near Perth by now.

We can have a day in mid July that feels like it is mid January, and also vice versa, with only the length of daylight hours being a clue to time of year.
You can get good/bad cycling days at any time of year, but especially between March and October the chances are that the weather should be better, (don’t hold me to that, please) and if it does rains, then at least the rain will be warmer.
Also beware that during August, if the Edinburgh Festival/Fringe/Tattoo go ahead this year, then available accommodation around Edinburgh Area might be sparse.

I used to have a small house in East Lothian and used spend many a weekend exploring the area.
I found CoastKid71 videos on Youtube a great inspiration, but not sure if you would find the routes without some local knowledge, but this is where Strava Heatmaps helps.

I never did managed to get out to visit the wreak of the midget submarine.

With an American wife (from the far away side), with loads of grandkids, etc. and the lack of visits over due to Covid, We have been having to use the Post Office. That price seems about right.

Apparently, It is thanks to Trump, that all mail coming into the USA has to be hand scanned.

We have our dog (7) and cat(9) insured by a company called ‘BOUGHT BY MANY’,
Only had one operation (so far) on the dog and this was settled up quickly and all done through emails.

    Try some podcasts ie
    Stuff you should know &
Stuff you missed in history class, (but have some re occuring annoying ads). They have a wide range of topics, some better than others, but most are worth a listen.

I have a large basement under the house, part of which is used as a laundry room. Concrete floor was pretty knackered. I ended up putting down a levelling screed and getting some inter locking floor tiles from B&Q, (£10 for 6 @ approx 600 x600). Didn’t do anything to concrete floor as it doesn’t seem damp, but will be checking it in a few weeks and if dampness is showing was going to give the concrete floor a coating of tanking or roof sealer.

I’m no gardener, but going by your photographs and where the sun is hitting the house, removing the brick stairs and installing a timber raised decking at the same level as your back door, extended out to the start of the garden and to your neighbour’s fence would give an ideal sitting area and play area with a great bike/toy storage below. Thereby eliminating the down and up when putting out the washing. (unless you and your wife likes Munro bagging/keeping fit).

I have been using Findmypast and also Myheritage. which offers a free two week trial.
If you can get back to the early 1900, things will be a lot easier.
Find my past has clear hints to others family trees which sometimes can (& something won’t) make things easier.

Surprised no one has mentioned a Honda CRV or Civic.
There is a very good reason why there are so many still around. Not exciting but reliable and practical.

My first company car was a red three door, was very basic, but practical (nobody would want to nick it.)
Used as an office hack and apparently came to an untimely end in a crash on Sauchihall Hall St.

I would suggest go out and buy another flexi pipe trap as a spare as I don’t think the thin plastic would last too long.
In saying that I do have a length of flexi pipe connecting my bottle trap to a waste pipe.

    Holyzeus,
I thought spending two hours or so waiting for my dad to pass was bad. But the 24 hours for my was even worse, especially since the previous 24hrs she was in pain but lucid.
The period your are waiting must be insufferable, hopefully you dad shall a peaceful passing soon.

Just lost my mum, last month, nine years after my dad.
Dad’s was sudden and unexpected, (You think parents live for ever) during that first week I was numb to began with then started feel something! and then started the grieving process, thinking about him alot.
With my mum passing, after years of deterating health and thankfully, a short period of pain and discomfort, she is now no longer in pain and back together with my dad, but I’m still feeling numb.
Thank you STW, typing this out has help to make my mums death real and can now start to grieve.

Frequently fly from Edinburgh via Amsterdam on the 5:55 flight, Edinburgh airport doesn’t wake up till 4:30/5:00, and never been a problem.
If booked right through, they allow for enough time to transfer planes, even with the half hour taxi from landing to the gate.

I enjoy passing by a field of cattle (on the other side of a fence), as it makes me feel famous as they just stop at the fence and stare.

Just had a play at booking some flights with Kiwi.com…

That ‘good’ deal price had jumped up by 85% and others journeys had no seats left at that price.

How about ‘Mystic‘ as she is doing amazing elevating things with the white and yellow balls,

    Or ‘Elle

Called our ‘Toffee’ as in ‘Chewy Toffee’, (but she has been pretty good in not living up to that prefix for the last three years)

Was in a similiar situation to yourself, but further from exchange. Joined with Talk Talk when first moved into house, but discovered that internet speed was dismally slow.
Ended up going to the THREE network’s mifi, limited to 20Gb a month for about £20, but have unlimited data on phone (with 4GB tethering.), not superfast, but certainly much better than TALK TALK speed (also got rid of landline so extra saving).
