The bearings are fitted into the disc as far as i was aware after chatting to the lad in the part shop yesterday.

I have never compressed mine and i am still alive, i can see why compressing would create a negative effect when the lowers were extended.

Hey codybrennan, cheers for that. Yea i have the caliper wind-back tool. All i think i need is the 36mm socket. And a bid **** off torque wrench.

rone, aye thats ace when you take care of everybody and all word of mouth is positive. Right now MRP seem to be doing that amazingly well. But Turner seem to be letting the one thing that made them different slide.

I know 5 people who have RFX’s and absolutely love them. In my mind they are up there as one of the best “enduro” bikes out there, but you just don’t see them out on the trails. Again maybe DT doesnt care about a wee island over here but he should care about the people who have paid a hell of a lot of money to but his bikes and aftercare.

Turner are a funny one for me, i can never figure out if they just like being a small outfit or not. Every business needs to change and move with the times but they seem to just not care at all about social media or the branding which these days is so much a part of any bike manufacturers identity. Also the forum on MTBr is also very quiet with little input any more. Compare that to MRP who are another small manufacturer who daily has Noah Sears popping up to help people out. If you lose that small team customer service you will lose sales.

I have 2 turners in the garage. An older 5 spot which never gets used due to my lad not really being interested in bikes and an RFX which is by far the best bike i have ever owned. BUT would i buy another one? If everything i have read on here is true i would have to rethink it. What other 160mm bikes climb and descent so well? I guess i might have some fun finding out 🙂

Saying that i have never had anything but good service from them. There is someone on here who had pretty poor service last year that was also a bit of an eye opener.

The evil will break. A friend of mine is now on his 3rd frame this year. Look on eBay at how many of those being sold are brand new warranty replacements. It’s a shame because the ride is brilliant

    POSTED 8 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST

See i find this a bit odd, my mate has a bike shop and evils are literally flying off his shelves. Now this is in Northern Scotland where they are treated the the way they are meant to be treated and in 2 years he has not had 1 needing warrantied.

Just to add a little balance!

I like the Der Baron up front for mixed conditions and a shorty for full on muck.

Never had a Conti on on the rear that didn’t commit Hara-kiri. Seriously. Not one.

Also look at the bleed process. Hopes are the easiest I have ever done by a mile. It’s hard not to get it right all the time.

I have a set of 30mm internal DT Swiss wheels and they are pretty good but I like 2.3 maxxis tyres for the winter slop on the rear and the profile is really odd with these. Just bought a 25mm for the rear.

I am a landlord and I couldn’t care less what my tenants keep in the house as long as there is no damage. While they rent it it’s their home!

Jambalaya has it, strength training combined with mobility / flexibility will see you right.

There are great apps out there and online videos. Try Ryan leech although even though his classes are ace his voice does grate. Abi has a great bunch of yoga videos in both pink bike and Vimeo. They are 15 minutes long so very easy to fit into your day.

I buried my mum earlier in the year, I chose to wear a blue suit/ waistcoat and brown brogues. This black suit and tie thing was not what my mum was about and neither am I.

I have just changed how I invest. As most people do I thought I could make shed load of money trading and then sail into the horizon on my new yacht. Wrong wrong wrong!! I wish it was that easy. I have stocks in 2 companies that I have done the groundwork research in and see them as good long termers. I have a global index tracker all wrapped up in a stocks and shares Isa. I had a bit of a wake up call after losing a fair whack on a couple of sure things.

Watch these videos for some good ideas on passive investing.

One of my best mates is a drilling engineer. Degree in Chemistry and another in Engineering. I think he has been in this game for about 15 years. Currently he has been unemployed for a year after Shell had a few rounds of redundancies a while back. This week he has landed an 18 month decommissioning contract which suits him down to the ground. We chat a lot about the industry as weirdly enough my sector is absolutely booming currently but in his exact words ” i wouldn’t dream of getting into this job now. Too many companies just want young graduates they can use abuse and burn through” Oh and he is the most upbeat person i know. He is just glad to be away from Shell. No hard feeling etc etc.

Ill second the shorty but i like the Der Baron Projekt a bit better. Not by much mind you. Seems to clear a bit better. The only Continental tyre i have ever got on with.

yep, it took 3 cheap guitars to realise that maybe i should have actually spent a bit more time and maybe money getting what suited me.

Where are we at with Battery technology these days. I don’t ever see that mentioned. I thought that the actual green benefits of electric cars were outweighed by the making of the battery?

Scud, took over from a bunch of your lads outside Sangin in 2005 i think. Have to say they were a top bunch of lads. Thats coming from a bootneck as well. Ill delete this in ten minutes so no proof of this comment exists 🙂

I like the Rahox pads. Very little bed in time needed. I had to fit a set on a very rainy and cold ride and they worked instantly so the proof was in the pudding. Longetivity wise they have been very good on this, i cant note exact mileage / descents etc but mine seem to just keep going and going.

I am happy to pay the 17 euros as i like them and i know they work. I cant say the same for uberbike as i have had a few mares with them.

Just catching up on this on Iplayer.

Katy Perry – a wee ball of wannabe madness. I really like her and her aimed at 10-year old tunes. Good on her.

Royal Blood – Now thats talent. Never realised it was 2 lads on bass and drums.

    Ill update more later …..

There’s two in our house. It’s a lovely looking post and has never failed catastrophically.

However, the standard lever eats cables (we switched to Fox 1x). Both have been back for play in the keyways. And one of them has been back twice more, once for sounding dry and gritty after a handful if rides and then for sagging.

The returns procedure is easy and quick enough, I just wish I didn’t have to know that.

Also, you can’t get into them to service the sliding components which is frustrating.

My next dropper will be a reverb. I don’t think it’s a better post but I can access tools and spares so can keep it running without having to send it away.

You are having no luck buddy with your biking kit. What did you replace your RFX’s with ??

    Check the oil level.

If you have just tipped the oil out and added 134ml you’ll have too much oil in there (some is retained in the rebound damper).

With the forks vertical and fully extended, measure from the top of the hole that the compression damper screws into down to the oil surface. (Should be 82-88mm here )

See thats why i come on here 8)

    teethgrinder – Member
Not being funny but you’ve put all that oil in the damper and not the lower leg, right?

Yep, i didn’t remove the lowers at all. Ill check the half moon tomorrow. Cheers

I’m always baffled by brake pad threads on here. I know everyone loves a deal but going for the cheapest shouldn’t always be your first thought with brake pads. Uberbike have always been hit and miss for me. The best i ever had for Shimano was alligator pads. They were amazing. They just bit and lasted for ever.

As for Hope pads i reckon Rahox have it nailed. 15 euros a pair and their statement that you don’t need to bed them in was put to the test on a 1500m descent in the pyrenees recently. It was wet and freezing and they just worked straight outa the packet. Yep i love em 🙂

Poolman i am mainly looking at future returns and CGT. Thats the single reason for thinking about Bed + ISA. I know the allowance is £11,000 per financial year and i am well within that but there is a possibility that may change.

I think ill call an advisor tomorrow for a chat. I use Hargreaves & Lansdown for my trading platform and they are usually pretty good if i have novice questions. Which is regularly to be fair 🙂

Paper maps are a thing of beauty, they totally fascinate me. But for on the bike I have viewranger and my Garmin 810.

Using devices for navigation is all well and good but if you don’t use those old fangled navigation skills reasonably regularly then they definitely fade. I guess it really depends on where you ride and how you think you will need this skills.
