I made a bit of an error with SJP. I didn’t put anywhere as much time and effort into selecting pension information as I should have. In my defence I was very much in the dark about financial institutions and how they work. I think I got a bit flapped that I needed a pension and fell for the sales patter. Been with them 2 years now. A fair bit more knowledgeable now but I have my 2nd year sit down coming up and I’ll be taking along information from 1. The performance of my sticks and shares ISA and fees and 2. The performance of my Legal and general index tracker and fees in the last 2 years then making a decision on what to do.

Nosedive, i had a test ride on a Deviate Guide today. It really is something else. I have never encountered a bike with so much traction. It just climbed. Stand up pedaling there was no bob at all, i couldn’t really get to grips with the descending though but ill put that down to having a frame too large for me.

    The gearbox really impressed.

The zerode is the same gearbox as the guide. Weirdly I took to the pinion gearbox straight away. Not a massive fan of the gripshift but not a major issue for me. Shifting was seamless.

That’s a weird one oldtennisshoes. From my experience of trail maintenance in the last few years Doug, and Adam from progression are the 2 main men when it comes to putting digging hours in.

Yea, test ride on friday will make my mind up finally. Will take a few months to get the funds together but evrything is pointing in the right direction 🙂

Righto excuse my ignorance, this shimano freehub can be used with hope pro4 hubs?? if so i am one happy man. I have an xd driver fitted currently

Its a deviate guide, when you say shimano freehub i take it you mean just replace the hope one? I was hoping to avoid that for now tbf. If i can convert the hope one i will as it saves a wheel rebuild as well.

Hey sirromj, I’ll need to check what version of firmware I have but I take it the reinstallation of the older firmware is pretty easy??

Nobeer, I like the Aeropress because I travel a lot and the fact it doesn’t break in my baggage and cleans very easily makes it a wee step up from a cafitierre. I wouldn’t have one otherwise though.

Zhiyun-Tech Rider-M is now £105 at Drones for less. Exactly the same gimbal as the Evo SS which goes for £255.

I have been using one for a while and its a great gimbal. Tha main advantage is that you can adjust the settings via the App.

Hey guys, thanks for all the help. I have absolutely no idea how to post pics on here now.

Nick, thanks for the offer. Serial number has been PM to you.

Found the exact same watch on ebay with a Buy It Now price. Although it has paperwork. Ill keep an eye on it.

Ill email oris tomorrow and probably go down the service route and that will get everything in order. 🙂

    Cheers all.

Yep it has a serial number on the rear next to the automatic movement clear case. But i didn’t register the watch when i bought it. So trying to do a search on the ORIS website is not throwing anything up.

Best thing is take the caliper off and push the pistons back in. Then squeeze the levers to see what’s happening. Mine do this now and again and I give them a clean and lube. Just be a bit methodical and play about with them one at a time until they all run smooth and even.

I use a bit of string to clean around the piston and a wee paint brush with some red silicone grease that I got from the bike shop.

Im pretty amazed at how much kit this holds. I have a bottle cage on the frame so don’t want/need a bladder.

Great bit of kit for summer / short rides. The usual Evoc build quality as well. At £34 it was the deal of the month.

I have a slaughter grid on another bike i might just pinch if you all reckon its robust enough. I have a DHR2 EXO fitted currently so will only need a backup if i destroy this one. I am actually pretty easy on rear tyres but as its my first trip to Finale i think its worth checking. 🙂

Can’t believe how tight the times are over 6 minute stages. 3 seconds separating 10 riders. Unreal

I don’t have one but they are top of my list for this next winter. Met a lad who had one on at Inners recently and they seem to make so much sense. Get past the onesie and embrace the all round dryness with nae gaps where Scottish mud loves to find.

Hey Poah, yep i have been using a hero 5 which i have no doubt is the main cause of the problems but FieyuTech state in the manual and there website that the gimbal is for use with the hero 5 and 6. Now obviously its not i know why which is why i am on the search again. I think i read on a review of the Evo SS that the 5 is 30g heavier than the session which doesn’t sound much but it can really affect the balance and the motors of the gimbal. They recommend using a 14g weight to counterbalance one of the swingarms.

My dilemma was to either persevere with the WG2 or buy a session which considering i had a hero5 in the cupboard seemed a bit daft. I’m going to try the karma grip with the extension i think.

No you can’t just build trails where you like. Common misconception. Will be interesting to see if the program has got it right or if it’s cringe time. Good to raise the issue though, some problems around Dunkeld at the moment with conflict with mtbers turning historic little footpaths on private land into teh rad trailz apparently.

Are you sure? I was out the other night with Adam and Doug who built pretty much everything round Dunkeld recently. We were having a discussion about new trails etc and they say that the landowner has not authorised new trails yet but talks are ongoing. That’s Birnam hill BTW. The FC are in charge of Craigvinean and there are plans afoot to take control of the upkeep of the trails there from them. As far as i was led to believe there is no more conflict there than anywhere else. All pretty respectful on both sides with a lot of work going on to secure more land / trails.

I have had this twice, i completely understand why people don’t want to involve their insurance companies. Both times the other person paid the repairs no problem.

    Go with your gut feeling.

Pretty easy to be fair, the only hard part to learn is the multitasking. Flying a kite and riding the board but a good instructor will get the info across and have you up and running quickly. If you get a good wind for 2 days you should be well on your way.

Been doing it for about ten years. Awesome 🙂 Not me, the sport 🙂

What scotroutes says up there. I have one and it works a treat. Nice and stable which I like.

For the money they are hard to beat.

Dropoff, the only way to manage this is communication. It’s extremely rare from what I see that races etc don’t end up bettering trails and areas. There is usually a greater legacy than before. The amount of work that goes in up my way fixing trails pre / post racing is phenomenal.

<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”>If you reach out to these groups and explain. Maybe sort out dig days to fix areas I think everyone will be happier and benefit. </span>

Absolutely depends on the events etc. The Dunkeld Enduro which is this coming weekend has a very strong core group of builders / maintainers and it benefits a whole host of people.

Some guiding companies i know also dig / maintain etc. I’m not going to name names but its getting more widespread. Invest some time back in for the greater good.

Anyway was this just a thought you had or do you have a real reason for asking?

I thought I had posted earlier but I have a test ride hopefully happening at the end of the month. Good to hear the positive side from your review Sanny and the OP obviously. Really looking forward to it now.

Ill be honest, i think the Canyon team have such a strong chance. Dimitri Tordo, Joe Barnes and Florian Nicolai are absolute weapons. Not many other teams have such strong teams throughout.

Talking about Cube, whats Nico Lau up to now?

And you cant buy the type of advertising for the columbian round. Awesome to see the people taking to it the way they have. An estimated 20,000 people watched Round 1.

I really fancied a demo of the new Deviate Guide. The poor weather and snow killed that one due to availability but i am really interested to see if an internal gearbox suits my style of riding. I am not a mech breaker as the one i am running has lasted 4 years.

I would like at least 2 days demo to fully get my head round the differences and see if i think they are a positive or too much of a compromise.
