Do you have an old car or new? I have an 07 Passat and very rarely need a callout so i go with AutoAid. £38 a year BUT it works that you pay for the callout then claim it back.

I did a lot of research and on a fair few forums it seems their system works really well and money is back in your account within a week.

Not worth it though if you have an old car and have multiple callouts i reckon

Wiz, u can count me in on that, im coming from Dundee but happy to meet up somewhere to sort the travelling out for others.

Tackled the bottom section Glas allt Sheil on Saturday, with one over the bars moment that took me by surprise. A few sections i had to walk but as i walked up past the waterfall i was thinking to myself ” no fricking way will i make it back down”. It was bloody hard but doable.

Would have headed up to the top of lochnagar but was doing the whole Glen Doll, Loch Muick, Capel Mounth route so we opted out a few hundred metres up from the bridge over the stream to head back down the way we had come up from Loch Muick.

Some amazing riding around that neck of the woods.

Yep, also if u get a wheelset with Hope pro2 evo hubs there are adapters for all types. I have 2 forks both 15mm and 20mm bolt through. Easiest thing in the world to change over.

Why do you want to change? Now i do like the more solid and direct feeling with bolt through but u really dont NEED it.

I bought my 1 up 1 down flat 6 years ago for £60 grand. 2 Bedroom with a very large garden that i have just put an amazing patio in.

£260 a month mortgage at the moment. Council tax £120

Dundee BTW. And actually a very nice location overlooking an observatory and park. I got very lucky.

£140 for two and car to get to tiree?

Not that bad really. Calmac are already heavily subsidised by the Scottish Government. It must cost a shedload to run those ferries so that a few people can get to some pretty remote destinations. Sorry bud but moaning about those prices wins you no sympathy from me.

Im not reading past the first page here so forgive me if it has been said already but all of you guys who ride 1 x 10 and feel that is all you will ever need then good on ya but i seriously doubt you would handle a full day riding some big routes in Scotland day in day out. Im a 2 x 9 convert and nobody i ride with (and there are some strong lads in the group) even consider a 1 x 10 set up.

    Madness i tells ya.

Grantway my pedantic head went right on there when u mentioned the incorrect usage of kite killers and my assumpton was it was directed at me. As stated i could not remember the correct terminology as it has been so long since i have used them but do the straps not depower the kite if let go??? I think they do 😀

rp16v be aware its a very addictive sport and a lot depends on your location if you want to landboard / buggy / kitesurf in the future. Luckily i live within 30 minutes of beaches that take clean wind in most directions. But if you just want to muck about in a field which looking back was one of the best bits of fun i have ever had ( takes you right back to being a kid again) then go for a 2 or 3m kite tops. But on a serious note buddy do your research, even a small kite has the ability so generate a lot of power, so take it easy, fly with others and ckeck out Kitecrowd as stated. And wear kitekillers, as grantway has so eloquently stated they kill all power to the kite if you let go but keep it attached to you.

Now go reasearch / buy one and have a blast. Now im off to the beach all day flying my 2011 vegas quiver. Now thats a kite i love. 🙂

Been a while since i have flown powerkites, im on the water ow and they are a whole diferent kettle of fish.

PKD Buster 3m was my first kite, had handles with depower straps if u let go. But not too sure what is the favourite now.

Have a look on Kitecrowd[/url] for info and they have a good for sale section

Might have a look at that jimr80, my 5 spot is a 2011 and it has built in cable guides on the top tube for dropper posts but i might have to get my imaginitive head on to fix this problem 🙂

Uberbikes are good, but mine squeel like mad in the wet. Running alligator pads from xc racer just now and so far i rate them pretty highly. Just had a pair in the rear in spain for a week, absolutely no problems in the hot / dry conditiond and they are not even half way worn. Result 🙂 Oh thats with Formula brakes.

If you have the cash a 5-spot might be worth considering.

In my mind it does everything extremely well. The DW link suspension is made of magic fairy dust, no pedal bob going up but silky smooth going down.

Not sure if the pivot has DW as well ( i know some do) but if so then also worth a shout 🙂

I have a wingnut pack. Awesome bit of kit. extremely light, quite spacious and you can get into the 2 side pouches without taking it off. Class 🙂

I have the VPD Pads and so far so good. Im not into wearing them everytime i go out but i will bung them on for a long descent.

The only thing i did notice was that they slipped down a fair bit which did not please me considering the stupid price i paid for them. But in their defence i have not had a chance to properly adjust them. I just put them on then pointed downhill. Got a week in spain coming up and they will be used a lot so a full review might be in order when i get back.

Lived there for 2 years, i hate the place with a passion. 8)

Its a place that attracts a certain type of money orientated, greedy and obnoxious person who believe they are superior to everybody else.

Also the place was built on a modern day version of slave labour. Scratch the surface and its so easy to see.

I did exactly what you are doing but i felt i had no life outside a very close group of workmates and their families. If you go with a plan then stick to it. It can be a very big culture shock for your family.

But it might be the best thing for you, lots of people love it. Just not me.

A lot of the riding is not in the wilderness, Aviemore you could spend weeks exploring and not be too far from town. Dumyat is a short blast on the outskirts of stirling but an amazing descent. worth a visit if passing through.

Oh yea midges. I nearly jumped into loch lomond last night to escape them. Never ever seen so many.

If u want some directions or ideas drop me an email buddy 🙂

sassy, u will be passing some of the best riding imaginable on route to a trail centre. While on route try Ben Lomond, Dumyat, Aviemore etc etc. The list is long and the riding truly amazing.

jwmlee, when i first got my dual air revelations i was doing exactly the same as you, reattaching the pump only to find the positive chamber had lost 5 psi and the negative 10 psi. i assumed wrongly that when i removed the pump i was losing the amount stated so my remedy was to increase the pressure by the respective amounts. But the forks were losing a lot of travel as the dual air was obviously not set up right. So i did a lot of googling and from what was explained that it was not detaching the pump from the forks / shocks that lost the air, it was reattaching the pump and the small amount of air filling the pump chamber was the problem.

So pump up to the required PSI and remove. It really is that simple.

Mate get an accontants advice, i used to work abroad for a few years and its actually pretty complicated. A lot depends on exactly how long you are out the country for and where you are working.

A mate of mine played by the rules but miscalculated his days in the UK and was hit with an 8 grand tax bill. If you get it wrong it has the potential to be very expensive.
Compare that to a couple of hundred quid for an accountants advice.
