Edukator, poor play. If you don’t agree then why not discuss. This place is an echo chamber at the best of times. Most people don’t comment on here because it’s the same anxiety ridden few who post over and over and anyone else gets shot down. You can argue other wise to your hearts content but it’s true.

For me it’s the fact I have gone totally alcohol free. Even a few drinks sends me deeper and deeper into the drinking rabbit hole and I don’t want that in my life.

I like not having a blurry head every day. I like having a good sleep and I like feeling 10x more alive every day than I did when I drank. But I do like the taste of beer on occasion.

Cougar, yea i know the only way to stop is to not have any in my eyeline. Ever 🙂

My post was more of an observation really as i am in work tonight and found myself chomping into a big lump of chocolate again. I’ve known that at times i can go overboard, i’m just amazed at how certain chemicals can really grab a hold of you.

Is your issue sugar or chocolate?

Sugar = buy sugar-free drinks and sweeteners. It’ll taste like shit for about a fortnight and then you’ll never notice the difference again.

Chocolate = buy decent quality dark chocolate. You’ll get through a square of 80% in the time it would have taken you to drop a four-pack of Mars bars.

Mainly its chocolate and sweets, oh and cake. I don’t eat loads but as soon as i see a cake or any of my other poisons the switch in my brain goes into hyperdrive.

It just screams at me. Eat , eat , eat. 🙂

Yep, got a flow sports mini. A friend is sponsored by them so got a huge discount.

I went in thinking that as with a lot of things this could be a bit of a rubbish idea that was all a bit placebo like.

But i genuinely think it works very well. My recovery is a lot better after using and my muscles are considerably less sore.

Fantastic race for Alpine. Really enjoyed the celebrations with Fernando as well. Sport at its finest. I love sport for days like this. Amazing!!!

Really hoping Ricciardo figures out what the issues are. With the sheer amount of data these guys have to hand McLaren must have an idea. Lando is on fire at the moment, as is Carlos Sainz. The latter keeps a calm head and out of trouble to bring his race home time and time again. Very impressive.

BoardingBob, if you are talking about a Mr Cairnie i spent a fair bit of time with him in a previous life. Mad as a box of frogs then. Seems to have found his audience.

Its a problem without a solution sadly. People do not want to hear that they are at fault. And their dogs being out of control or scaring people is most definitely their fault.

Weirdly i don’t seem to have all these interactions that a lot of people on here do. I tend to keep well away from people. But as with the OP thats not always the answer.

I think the best solution is to take the dogs picture along with their owners and report to the police. But that again escalated the aggression factor in some people.

So apart from moaning on here, whats the solution?
Edit. Just saw Kelvins reply and i agree. Dog ownership is actually too easy these days.

she still does get nosy and wants to say hi a lot.

I assume they are on a short lead. If they aren’t then you are the one at fault. No exceptions, no arguments.

Maybe you shouldn’t assume anything. Dogs have a natural noseyness. Mine is no different. But as i said she is well trained. She comes back straight away.

I think the standard response to ‘They won’t hurt you’ is ‘maybe not but I’m gonna hurt you if you don’t get your mutts away from me’.

    That’s a good idea!

Give over. There are a lot of people out there much handier with their fists than you are. I think if you start spouting that nonsense you will find out the hard way.

Mactheknife – i think if my son was under threat and upset by a dog and i couldn’t get it to back off then yes i would take steps.
I’m just hoping that i don’t end up in the situation as i don’t want to hurt anyone or anything.

Sorry, i didnt make that clear. Im talking about the escalation of violence towards the owners.
If a dog was threatening your son or anyone else then yes you are well within your rights to do whatever it takes to protect them. I would be exactly the same and i love dogs.
My mum bred Rottweilers when i was a lad and i grew up around big strong dogs. I am well aware of the amount of training they need to be controlled and most people dont get them to then spend this amount of effort sadly.

We live in a world where self entitlement rules. its pretty depressing really.

I absolutely adore my dog but I’m very well aware that not everyone does. We take a lot of time to train her and make sure she is under control but she still does get nosy and wants to say hi a lot.

People are dickheads though. Without a doubt Covid has changed they way a lot of people act and what amazes may was how unaware i was until recently of the sheer entitlement levels of a lot of people. I think i just didn’t encounter them before and now i am.

To all the keyboard warriors saying they would escalate the violence, would you really?? and is that the best way of dealing with these people?

I had to replace my Magura pads this week. The best I could find at a reasonable price was on ebay. Highonbikes have a good selection at a great price.

Good clear answer there pooh, care to elaborate 😉

i agree with isitafox, i recover a lot faster when taking creatine and find a lot of benefits in power and strength with no real downsides.

I also do a lot of crossfit where the actual benefit is way more obvious. For biking. Give it a go. Everyone is different. It will either be worth it for you or not. What’s the worst that could happen 🙂

Eventually they sent me a threatening letter saying that if I didn’t return my uniform I’d recieve an invoice for £198 or some equally ridiculous amount.

So you basically stole someone else’s property as you couldn’t cope with some hard work?

Mate you really need to get off the internet for a while. The aggression in that one sentence is unreal. Go do some yoga, have a cup of tea. Life will seem so much better 🙂

I ran a Push 11-6 on my RFX for a couple of years and it was absolutely spot on.

Changed bikes now but at the time there was a massive thread on MTBR about it. Might be worth hunting it down.

I ran a set of Hope V4’s on my bike for a few years and really loved them until i had a hire bike with Magura MT5’s on. That was it for me. Sold the hopes and bought a set of Maguras.

They have great modulation and stopping power. Essy to bleed ( but not as simple as Hopes).

Yea and the magnetic pistos are ace 🙂

So in short, very very happy with them. Was thinking of running my Shimano Zee Levers on them at some point.

Mtnboarder, in all honesty your comments are bang out of order and smack of cowardice. If you have a problem with how people conduct themselves at least have the courage of your convictions and have a quiet word with them. It really says so much that you didn’t but felt the need to come onto a very public forum and not so subtly slag their conduct off.

I’ll be honest, I’ve no idea what you are on about Bruneep. If I felt I had poor service from Ben I would say but it’s been the opposite from start to finish. Brand new seal set for free for an issue that I don’t even think existed but some people did.

I’ve had exemplary service from start to finish with this bike and I honestly couldn’t be happier.

Scunny, where are you. I have a well used but perfect working Turner rfx frame hanging in the garage doing nothing. I genuinely don’t want anything for it. I’d be happy just knowing it was getting a good use.

Would need a shock though. Got headset and bb fitted.

Another recommend what you ride. I’m in the Deviate camp as well. Been riding a highlander for a couple of months. Absolute weapon of a bike. I have coil both ends though which just makes the bike feel so good. But the X2 I had on before was not bad in any way.

It climbs so well, no need for lockout, then point it down. Its a very tight bike in that you know its 140mm at the back but it still handles everything with aplomb. I’m riding Dunkeld /Pitlochry / Ballo all the time and I never feel I’m out my depth.

Bruneep the demo bike you had. Was that one of the ones that was up Ballater way? My mate lives up there and had one for a couple of days. He wasn’t that impressed but then had a play on mine which he said felt very different in a good way. Not sure if ben at deviate is taking care off the demo bikes as well as he should.

But I honestly can’t recommend the highlander enough as a trail / enduro bike.

I chop and change between flats and clips a fair bit. No real reason. I just fancy a change now and again. After about ten minutes on the flats I’m comfy again. They really don’t let you away with being lazy on steep techy stuff which I love. Keeps my habits in the right direction foot wise.

A small learning and you will be fine

As stated, Doug at Basque MTB is your man.

I have been out 4 or 5 times and all of my riding mates have been return customers many times.

He does different trips depending on what you are after. The guides are awesome too. So much knowledge.

Drop him a line. I doubt you will regret it.

Yea I had a problem with ISON a while back. Very poor service so have had the forks with TF Tuned since then who were awesome as usual.
