I know they are not superstar but I can really recommend rahox pads. I tried many when I was running xt brakes and these are probably the most consistently good pads around IMO. Unfortunately I can’t get them for my zee brakes but if I had xt again I would have them in a heartbeat.

Benz, unfortunately for you Aberdeen is a soul sucking horror show. I get out of there as fast as humanly possible when i land.

I have a very good mate who is a drilling engineer for a very large firm (no names 🙂 ) and currently he is the most miserable person i have ever met. He chased this job and career but it was not solely financial driven. He loves his job and all the challenges that come with it. What is slowly killing him is having to deal daily with the poison of the companies management. Everyone is out for number 1, chasing that final salary position before they retire and back stabbing at every turn. How a company operates like that is beyond me.

He is getting out. I cant say much on here but his plans have him leaving that all behind . I dont think his health would last much longer either.

STW bellendry at it’s finest. It is slowly dawning on me how many numpties actually frequent this place.

Great review mboy and fair one for not rising to the bait. I love it when i am looking for kit and i do a google search and i can find informed write ups / reviews like this one. Usually they are to be found on MTBR .

Even online it takes a fair amount of commitment putting your opinions and ideas out there. Its not big and its not clever just taking shots at someone doing that just to make yourself better hiding at home behind a keyboard.

Ah, thanks creamegg. ill try the polywatch route first and wait to see what garmin say.

I use the mapping a fair bit so thats the only reason its bugging me. I could handle some squinting at numbers but not at OS mapping.

I have a 2008 Vivaro sport SWB. Initially i loved it, it drove so well with a lot of power and having a big changing area for me in the rear was a game changer up here in baltic Scotland.

Then i had a problem with the injectors. A manufacturers design fault resulted in water being able to get into the engine bay and sit on the engine. This obviously corrodes the injectors. Before i found out about it being a design flaw i replaced one of the injectors, then 2 weeks later another one went so i put it into Vauxhall which after 6 weeks of dilly dallying i got my van back with 4 new injectors.

It now runs flawlessly, yes it’s true that it does not drive like a car but i really don’t care. I have a fold out bed in the back, leisure battery wired in with lighting so it is ace for weekends away and i am going to fit a captains chair next week and ill be finished.

For me i love the freedom it gives me. i kitesurf as well so when the weather is not so good having a van is a god send.

i had a Passat estate for 5 years previously so i can compare the 2. The van wins hands down for my lifestyle 🙂

Good stuff, 3 days is quite short so good work 🙂

With vans its a bit of trial and error. as you use it more you will realise what you need and what needs changing.

Kudos, i don’t think many people are saying “poor old andy, look who you are up against” it is just a fact that at this point in time there are 3 of the best players of all time in the game. You deal with the hand you are dealt and i think he dealing with it really well.

Fair one on his mentality, he has always needed that level guiding hand to reign in his wayward temperament.

I would love to know who is going to step up in the next 5 years to be the top players. There is so much talent out there at the moment.

Shackleton, that would be ace. Im a bit on the stumpy side at 5 foot 7 but would really like to have a gander at these.

email is in my profile. free all this week.

What i admire most about Murray is that a few years a go he was much less of an all round package. Yep he had the raw talent but he has worked hard through so many problems physically and with his game. To have matured in the media spotlight when it does not come naturally to him at all. I do find it really sad that so many people love to get hung up on a few comments that were made in poor judgement to a press that were eager to jump on his comments and either twist or spin them in a certain way and not focus on the fact that he is by far the best tennis player we have had in a very long time.

It will take a good while before we get another british tennis player of his caliber. Hopefully he can figure out a way to get Djokovic in a few more slams 🙂

Excellent, thanks shackleton. Not too far from me in Dundee. Ill ask my local shop if he can sort me out first before getting in touch with pedals.

Shackleton, if you don’t mind me asking where did you get yours? My pikes are continually needing fettled to feel good. They are starting to be a pain in the ars@.

I am really interested in smaller brands that offer good products and support but its the support side that bothers me a wee bit. Who in the UK offers the servicing side as well.

    Thanks 🙂

At this moment in time Djokovic is unstoppable. His tennis is so good.

Yesterdays match from the 3rd set onwards was a masterclass from Murray in how to dig deep and keep fighting. I think it will go Djokovics way quite quickly today but considering who he is up against and playing on clay murray has shown that his game is where it should be to be top 2 or 3.

I just bought a snugpak one, cannot remember which one and its in the van at the moment, sorry.

Its synthetic which initially put me off but after a few uses i am very impressed with it. Packs away pretty small and was great in the cold.

    £70 plus postage.

Ok, initially you may think i am joking but bear with me.

POC Index Air gloves at £30 – £40 without a doubt are the best value gloves out there. Now after you take a minute to wipe your coffee off the keyboard i will explain.

I have had the same pair for nearly 2 years. Multiple trips abroad, some trail building. Constant use and they are still going strong where many inferior gloves have died a horrible death. And i have worked my way through a few.

Initially they are pricey but they just won’t die. So there you go. Question answered 🙂

JonEdwards, ha i know my priorities. Mechanics are always offered beer and crisps. I know exactly who makes my life more bearable.

The Shimano guys at the Trans Savoie last year were worked to the max. Absolutely non stop every day but with a fair bit of gratitude and beer my bike was fixed more than once.

Ace, i have emailed Kaesae to get them ordered. Thats a fair difference from the £65 quoted on the distributors site.

Awesome, thanks guys. I looked under the FAQ’s would you believe but didn’t see anything. I think i need some glasses. Infact i looked at the main FAQ not the specific bike section.

Chiefgrooveguru, yep i was going to order a set from him as they seem to be well regarded. How much were they just out of curiosity?

Northwind, yep i rolled it yesterday. Just. Had my arse scraping the rear wheel tho 🙂

I am out, had an interface with a tree on stage 7. And unsurprisingly i came off worse.

Just need to get it sorted for Trans Provence in a few weeks.

Good luck to everyone racing, hope the weather is kind to you all 🙂

Aye good result, Dan Atherton in 10th and Joe Barnes was in line for a podium until he had a puncture.

Its a real shame the format does not lend itself to live viewing but ill be looking forward to pinkbikes catchup.

I have owned both and without doubt i would recommend the KS Lev Integra with Southpaw lever.

No bleeding ever, the actuation is so much smoother that my reverbs and the fact that you can pretty much fix and bodge a repair out on the trail or if the lever gets battered in transit which happens way more often than you would think. All you need is a cable.

Even the non Integra is better than the reverb and Thomson IMO as there is no cable drop when you drop the post due to the positioning of the cable routing point.

I have a Moto G sam, its a tidy phone and if you are using a Micro SD card and have the apps installed on it then there appears to be no issues with RAM usage.

The single downer i have found with it is the camera, compared to other phones and especially the Nexus 5 which my wife has it is very poor in low light.

Apart from that its an ace phone.

Aye i am looking forward to it, got the van ready and will be living in it for the 5 days 🙂

Probably bounce between Glentress and Inners depending where the parking is less busy 🙂

    Vanlife rocks 🙂

I like the 2.3 3C on the front. Initially it looked small but that was because i was used to having a Magic Mary on there.

So whats the consensus on a decent chain checker for 11 speed. I am not wanting to spend a mint but would like something half decent.

Not sure of exact mileage but i had my X01 groupset on for over a year now, still on the original cassette and chainring. 2nd chain that i changed when it got to 0.75. I don’t put shedloads of miles in but i do a lot of climbing followed by long descents generally. Saying that i have just looked at my Garmin and the last year i have put a lot of miles in for me (1970).

The HR2 in 3C MaxxTerra is a belter of a tyre. I was always a lover of Schwalbe until i tried maxxis again and so far i am very impressed.

I have a DHR2 for front and rear duties in 3C (front) and 60A/70A (rear) for when its not nice and dry. 80% of the time. The dry season requires that i run an Ardent 60a/70a (rear) with HR2 front in 3C maxxterra.

Plus they go up tubeless better than anything else i have tried on flow ex rims.

Hey jack, as has been mentioned previously you could always marshall for a different SES round to get the entry for Largs.

For the people who love to throw out the comments that the organisers are obviously running around in flash cars etc, we all know they are not and that these events are run by very hard working individuals / groups for not much or any profit. But sometimes it is good to find out exactly how much these events cost and what the breakdowns in cost are. That way you can look objectively when the money rolls out your wallet.

I feel very thankful that there are people out there who want to go to the effort of running events like this.

I raced at Dunkeld this weekend and the enduro is run by an independent bike shop who have a small number of very committed volunteers. You should see the trails that they have built in the last few years. Absolutely fanstasic. But ill be there was a fair amount of cost involved.
