£ years books for me, my mortgage advisor and lender were happy with the Unaudited accounts from my accountant.

If you’re happy getting an extra £500 a month when you retire at 65 then why bother with a pension at all. Just stick it in an ISA every month.

At this point in time this seems like my best option, especially when i talk to my dad and grandad and they tell me how much they have lost from their pensions at various times in the past. BUT. is fair to say i have not always made the best decisions in the past regarding money. So getting more opinions is no bad thing.

Cheers footflaps, ill have a look at that. The hardest part of all this is trying to get your head around all the pension types, ISAS etc etc to make an informed decision when you have the peter pan syndrome. “Damn it all i am never going to get old”. Then one day you wake up and realise. Bloody hell i am nearly there. 😈

Gary_M Based on an annuity I presume. Did the adviser completely fail to mention drawdown. So you have your £235k pot, you move it into a drawdown account and take a monthly income from that.

I have another meeting with him on friday where i will ask him a lot more questions now i have a bit more information. These figures were sent out in an email after our initial meeting.

I am 39 currently and i am in a decent position that i inherited a property that we let out and i have a military half pension. But once you go down the rabbit hole of personal pensions it can be completely overwhelming. I am not a total numpty but the figures for me seemed completely balanced in favour of the pension provider. Not myself.

Its a SRAM thing, can be bloody annoying at times. I just bought a set of MRP Stage forks from my LBS and they came with a comprehensive but easy to follow instruction card.

    I like, a lot 🙂

Tracey, how have you found the purgatories in the Alps etc. I am reasonably hard on my tyres and i am looking for a rear for my new set up. The purgatory seems to tick all the boxes at the moment as Maxxis don’t do the DHR2 in anything but 3c compounds in 650b.

Saying that i might have to revisit my old love affair with On One Smorgasbords.

I have 1 ordered through Basecamp bikes, they are awaiting shipment of the first batch at Silverfish in the very near future.

There may be some advance orders been fulfilled but i don’t think any are in the UK yet.

Dunkeld Enduro will still be running in its original format according to their Facebook page.

    Happy days 🙂

A little disappointed that Dunkeld is in the SES, assuming this means they won’t run the standalone event they have done for the last couple of years that I always thought was a great, chilled out local single day event on cracking trails. Not so much if it is now part of the series.

I am with you Doug on this point for now, i sent the guys a message on their FB page if they would still be running their own Enduro on the 1st weekend of May. Its been a firm favourite of mine since it started and knowing how much work has been put in previously i would like to support those guys again. Saying that though as the trails were build by locals mainly for the Progression Bikes Enduro does that mean there has to be discussion regarding trail usage by another race provider.

I am just being nosey by the way 🙂

Glenlivet is still in there 😯 but the new ones are Dunkeld and Dunoon.

I love Dunkeld and the trails are fantastic. Most of the trails used have been built by Progression bikes and friends so i am not sure if they will be running their own race as usual in May.

I really really wanted an Evil Insurgent to be my next bike but there is not a chance i am spending that amount of money with all these problems floating about. Saying that its a moot point as Turner brought out my dream bike with the RFX but for me it highlights how a companies reputation can / will be decided on their treatment of customers when problems arise and i didn’t want to be one of those people who 6 months down the line i have a very expensive door stopper.

Saying that my previous dealings with silverfish have not filled me with any happiness so that was also a factor in my decision.

My feeling on this is that doctors provide an almost pivotal role in most of our lives and deserve our support in that. And part of that is the financial rewards. Yes they signed up for a very hard job requiring a lot of sacrifice but the payback was a certain level of monetary return.

Would i want a completely overworked, stressed out doctor who has had minimal sleep in the last 4 days making life and death decisions for me or my family. Not a chance. Reward them for exactly what the are and the service they provide.

We all seem to be pretty aware that the NHS is headed towards a level of privatisation, and it appears that nobody wants this. So what apart from voting for another political party can we do about it.Serious question.

Do we really want the type of care you get in the US where every single part comes with a very hefty price tag.

I quite like the bonty flash charger, my only bugbear is the way the air has to equalise between the large cylinder and the tyre. It takes a wee while to get a proper reading on the pressure gauge but to be fair its a not really an issue. Just an annoyance.

I too have a 9p coke bottle rigged up and it does work a treat. Like everything just use whatever suits you and you pocket.

Would i buy another one. Probably not but as i have it now ill use it till it dies 🙂

I seemed to be in the minority in that i absolutely hated it. It seems to have a serious load of climbing for little payoff.

The new trail that was built for the EWS that links into a few more established trails is the daddy 🙂 not sure of the names but starts just where you turn off the top fireroad climb to start the original red route.

Oh and Innerleithen is worth the few extra miles along the road.

Alpin, a 30t or a 28t on the front will see you right on everything a granny could. if these don’t work for you then its that steep you would be as well pushing.

I had a 30t on most of the year and found it the best compromise between spinny climbs and still having enough for fireroad runs.

Minion DHR2 front and rear. As i am still running 26 baby wheels i can get the compounds i want.

Pretty soon ill be changing to 650b and i have a trailking for out back duties.

I know 5 people running spitfires, very hard 🙂 Not one hint of trouble or cracked frames.

Get one, saying that they are very different bikes from the Bronson. A test ride might be in order.

I am always amazed by companies that have poor customer service. The internet makes the world a very small place and these comments and bad dealings have a way of making there way onto forums like this and MTBR and will not go away.

One of the many reasons i am a Turner fanboy is their near legendary customer service. It keeps customers very loyal to the brand and makes them happy to buy from them as they know that if there are issues then 9/10 it will be sorted promptly.

I think Banshee are gaining a good reputation as well. Maybe its a small company thing. Maybe not as Evil as pretty small themselves.

Scamper, i just changed my bearings out after 14 months and they were in pretty good nick. Got a set from Kaesae off here to replace them with. If you need his email address i can dig it out. They come highly recommended.

Flows are the daddy of all rims IMO, especially tubeless. I have never had any issues with them no matter how hard i ragged them.

I was in the bike shop today to put an order for exactly what you were looking for and it turns out there was no way for him to order online the flow / evo hub combo in 650b from hope. There were availability for both crest and arch rims but not flow.

He tried to get a hold of hope to clarify but as he has a very good wheelbuilder working for him i just decided to get a set build up for the same price that the would cost from hope.

Bikeneil, i am sure they are ace rims but for a 650b wheelset they come in about 200g heavier than if built with flows. I know it doesnt sound like much but i would rather lose that weight and keep with something i know works very well.

Ultimateweevil, what’s happened to your spitfire?? Mine has been thrashed this year and is still going strong 🙂 hopefully you will get it sorted soon tho. Saying that if there is any time to have a problem its about now when the cr@p weather is coming.

Chiefgrooveguru, that’s probably going to be my combo as I have dhr2 back and front at the moment and have been very impressed with them, just cant get them in anything but 3c in 650b.

Winter training can be a minefield if you read too many sources. I bought a couple of programs in the last couple of years to try and structure my training. I dont really follow them any more but what works for me is this.

2 x weight sessions a week. One with 5×5 squats and some upper body work.
The other focusing on deadlifts with some stability work thrown in.

For november and december i dont even look at the bike generally. I run and if the weather is terrible ill use the rower in the gym. Although if the weather is not too shabby il be out.

From jan onwards il start incorporating cycle training on the bike in the gym. I have a few sufferfest videos which takes the boredom away and gives me some structure.

I use a foam roller and stretch at home. Only takes 20 mins a few times a week.

I know a lot of people will disagree with what i do but it works for me and thats all i am bothered about.
