Having an iPhone plonked on the bars sounds like a right recipe for disaster.

That looks completely wrong to me, without seeing all the setup i cant tell you exactly how but i have attached a picture of how it should be.

If that doesn’t help drop me a line at the email in my profile with some more pictures and ill do my best to explain what you need to do.

Yep its a worldwide oil bust. Nowhere is getting by unscathed at the moment. I doubt very much that you will see widespread decommissioning projects announced unless things are still as bad this next time next year. Plus they are not a quick fix. Decommissioning takes a long time.

Currently i still have work. NDT / Rope access. But as said earlier i too am working on the assumption that it wont last much longer and i am currently setting plans in motion to move on from the industry. For how long depends on how long it takes Saudi to blink and how long it takes investment to kick back in again.

What size frame are you looking for Golfchick. I am selling a medium spitfire.

It has 26″ dropouts but these can be changed for about £40 to 650b.

If you have any questions then drop me a line 🙂

First ride in the bag up at laggan yesterday. First thoughts 🙂

    1. Climbs way better than a 160mm bike has any right to.
    2. Dave Weagle is a genius. Seriously.
    3. It corners like it is on rails. Very nimble handling which suits me very well.
    4. MRP Stage fork – so far i am also very impressed. Unlike the pike or fox where you add tokens to ramp up at the end of the stroke the adjuster on the left stanchion on the stage has a dial with 16 increments that does this job. It works very well. I had 4 from none out and didn’t feel the need for much more. 2 clicks out of 8 of LSC seemed a decent amount as well. I will have to give it a good run in and really mess about with the settings but i have never like a fork so quickly as this. It was very plush initially but when it got technical there was a great deal of mid stroke support.

So far i am a happy lad 🙂

Hey Cynergy, i am 5 foot 8 and found it pretty spot on. I ran a 50mm stem and 750 mm bars which seemed the sweet spot for me.

I ran a spitfire for 18 months and it was as close to perfect as a bike could be for the UK riding (IMO).
Climbs exceptionally well, and descents even better. As andy says at 140mm its spot on for the UK.

Just go for it and enjoy.

Obelix, yea a good mate is waiting with baited breath for the new sultan. He is a very lanky 6 foot 4 and the only bike he has had that fits him well is an XXL sultan 😆

Ill definitely post up some thoughts after a few rides but it usually takes me a good while to get a proper feel for a bike.

thegman, ill email you a gpx if the last rounds trails if you want.

But i doubt they will be much fun. There has been some significant rain in the last few weeks and they are not the best in the proper wet.

Ill email you it anyhoo. If i forget drop me a line buddy.

2nd hand spitfire is the best option 😉

Matt, cheers for that. Its actually getting me bloody annoyed. I’m not a complete nugget so this shouldn’t be this hard. There is a lad who works in my LBS who spanners for a race team. Even he just shakes his head when i mention it.

Fitted the spacers and the drive side gap seems about right. But if I tighten the cranks up any more than a nip then there is resistance in the cranks. How bloody hard can it be.

Does it have to be brand new?? I have a used set i was going to pop up for sale. Hope Pro2 hubs. 15/20mm front and 142 x 12 rear.

I have tried flats a few times but my inherent lazyness meant i just reverted back to clips when my feet started flying off the pedals when i was unweighted. Unfortunately for my lazy self i am having a bit of knee trouble and i am going to give flats more than a 2 hour go now.

So on that note what the hell do i do with them when i am unweighted? Front heel down and rear up and kinda squeeze? If you know what i mean 🙂

Spotify works pretty well with Sonos, i am using it right now.

It does play the playlists that you have saved in Spotify. Under your music.

Not as feature rich but pretty decent nonetheless.

Aye 🙂 i saw that. Not going to even try and figure it out any more.

    Bike shop time. 🙂

Ah nice one, trip to the bike shop tomorrow i think. 😀

I think there must be a spacer missing as the drive side crank will only go in as far leaving the 3 – 4 mm gap regardless. Something needs to space out that side a bit.

Head is pickled. Bloody standards 🙂 cheers

It’s a PF30 and no there is nothing on the lhs crank arm. That’s making sense. Can that adjuster be ordered separately?

    Thanks for the help

Aye thats the dartmoor i remember from when i was in the marines. Horizontal rain. Knee deep mud. Mmmmm trenchfoot. Would actually love to go back and spend a bit of time exploring on the bike. Bit far from Dundee mind.

Yep, but i wont have it built up till the tail end of next week. I was the same initially with Carbon but my Turner fanboy head kicked in.

The RFX and Burner are pretty different bikes. If its for general trail use then i would have a burner in a heartbeat but if you want a bike for bigger days then you know its the RFX.

Wilko, what bits do you need? I am going to be stripping down my banshee next week and most of the parts are not compatible with my new frame.

My mate is your size and rides a sultan. XXL. It’s like a bloody gate. There is another thread on the RFX if you do a search on my history. Also check mtbr as Dave Turner lurks and answers a lot of questions.

Ahsat, I have never used trainer road but I do use sufferfest which is based on perceived exertion over actual power based figures. Although if you spend a wee bit of time and get you HR zones down then it can be pretty bang on for the money. Maybe worth a look.

Have you tried the minion dhr2 mindmap. That’s a completely different beast from the original dhr. I have been running then front and rear for about 6 months. They have never let me down.

Whereabouts do you live Onzadog? If its anywhere north of the border i am happy to eet up for a ride sometime and you can have a go on the Medium to see if it suits you. Or not 🙂

Ill defo put some pics up but i am away with work for a few weeks as of tomorrow. 😥 Looking to build it up as soon as i get home and get a few rides in to get the suspension and set up dialed.

Onzadog i am 5 foot 7 so a medium. Until i get it built and had a few rides i wouldn’t want to comment on sizing. Sorry.

Jon, i found a good alternative to a shorty is a minion DHR2. In 26″ you can get all the compounds your hear desires. I have run them front and rear for the last 6 months and they have never let me down.

Also doug runs both week long and day trips for cyclists of all abilities. Basque MTB
