Currently i am loving an aggressor on the rear with a Minion DHF 3C up front. The aggressor is pretty fast rolling and i have not noticed any lack of grip. DHR2 will be back on when things get sloppy though. Finally found my tyre nirvana 🙂

Macthknife I bought a cheap 5spot in a sale, soon after the paint started lifting on the rear triangle. I said I was fine with any colour triangle replacement- nope later (better) model 5spot on its way within the week. Now Turner can’t be a huge company but their customer service focus on those that count; the customer is infallible. I remember selling the frame on, the buyer low balled me and I thought ‘why not/share the love as I technically only paid sale price originally’ then made me stump up the £30 insured post when I forgot to say plus ‘£x’ post to post. Buyer chanced it then refused to stump up more. One year on he put said frame on here for a fair bit more..

But that’s another story…wasn’t one of you lot was it?…a black 44mm headtube frame…

😀 Hey hora, i remember reading on here that you didn’t get on with you 5 spot. Was it a 2010 that could only take a straight steerer fork?

Anyway OP i hope the situation is on its way to being resolved to your satisfaction.

No way is it sluggish and boring its that the 5 spot is so much more playful, they are very different bikes 😀

Stevet1, i have the new RFXv4.0 and to be honest its absolutely amazing but i had a blast yesterday on my old 5 spot that i built up for my boy and i fell back in love again. Completely forgot what a fun bike it is. Nippy and playful 🙂

Customer loyalty comes from various factors but for me the top one is probably its customer support. I am an unashamed Turner fanboy and although their bikes are very good (so are most companies to be fair) the main reason is their level of support and service.
On Friday i emailed Turner support about a small issue i was having, within an hour Dave Turner himself had emailed me a very comprehensive answer. Now if you pop onto the Turner section on MTBR you will see that this is not a rare occurrence, its how the company appears to operate.

As much as i don’t mind spending a lot of money on my main hobby i doubt many people have 2 and a half grand to burn, and as such i doubt i would ever touch an Evil bike even though a really good mate is a dealer i dont trust the company to see you right if it all goes south.

X01 seems to be the best dal out there. The e13 trs plus is slightly more expensive and i don’t like the fact you cant buy the top 3 rings separately anywhere yet.

This is my next but when this casssette dies.

You will have a blast buddy. Did Trans Savoie 2 years ago and i went out thinking that i was going to be so far out my depth and i was constantly over thinking kit choices etc. Until i got out there and just had a blast.

The trails are wild but really fun.

Just enjoy, thats what it is all about 🙂

Yea i had Danny Hart as a one win wonder up until this year. So good to see him consistently on the podium and pushing for a win. The guys at the top are so fricking good but Gwin is on yet another level.

I have an old, 26″ Orange 5 (I know,I know). I’d like a new one. There’s nothing wrong with the one I’ve got but I’m tired of the sniggers. Yes, I am that shallow

This cant be a serious quote surely?? I can absolutely guarantee nobody gives a sh!t about your wheelsize. Its all in your heed man 🙂

But if by an odd chance it is true you should :-

    1. Change your mates.

    2. Grow a thicker skin.

Chickenman, that second loop is pretty bang on to the one i did yesterday. Glen Doll – Bachnagairn – Broadcairn – Cairn Bannoch – Carn an Sagairt Mor – Loch Callater – (big mistake time) – Jocks road to Knaps of fafernie. Holy batfuck i made a mistake on that one. Those 5kms were an absolute nightmare. Then descending down Jocks road back to Glen Doll. But thats what adventure is all about. It cant all be awesome descents and sunshine.

All in it could be a belter of a loop but from Loch Callater i cant figure out how to get out of Glen Callater.

Fantastic, i am sure you will love them.

Degutopia[/url] is a great site for information. If you are getting them from pets r us or whatever they are called they dont really know much about them. The cages they supplies were way too small.

Any info you need just email.

We have 4 degus, lovely wee things. They love nothing more than running round your shoulders and if you put a hoody on they will snuggle down in there for ages.

Nothing major to worry about their diet. A few niggles with sugar etc but they are so easy to take care of.

They do chew though. If they get loose you will know about it. But they are so smart and intelligent.

It must be so frustrating to be number 2 when you have such a talent as Djokovic ahead of you at every game. To give your absolute all and (nearly) always come off second best.

I bought a Chromag Samurai steel hardtail from a mate. With pikes, double Deore chainset and dropper etc it comes in at a portly 32lbs. I was a bitty surprised but its mainly a play bike and a winter basher so i am not too bothered.

Also its the first time in a long time i have no rear suspension. Thats a shock to the system 🙂

Still a nippy little bu@@er though.

Renton, i am assuming that the falklands have internet access? If so i would go online and start researching properly how to achieve what you want. The information is all out there. Yep there is a lot of BS as well but the added benefit being that you really learn why you train a certain way for certain benefit. Oh and if you have a RAF or navy PTI out there i would stay well clear. Seriously.

Rowing is brutal but its an amazing tool for full body / strength and cardio workouts.

Compound weights are your your friend. Nothing snazzy just old fashioned deadlifts, squats, press ups and bent over rows etc. Keep a diary and aim to increase your weights every week but gradually.

If you are willing to pay for it then i would recommend programs by –
Chris Kilmurray, Point 1 program and Bike James. They are both bike related programs so will suit your needs.

I know its a bit daunting trying to figure out how to structure workouts but at your stage its not complicated. Oh and try to find what you enjoy as well. It makes working out so much more enjoyable.

On your days off try to incorporate mobility work. Foam rolling and stretching.

Now go. Research and enjoy 🙂

Personally I wouldn’t buy one of those^ cheap stoves, mainly because they’re tat, don’t have much power and they’re good for nothing other than a campsite (and not that great at that IMO). saying that, friends have them, like them and they work, sort of.

Sorry buddy but i think you are wrong on this one. There are a bunch of us who have stoves in our vans. We mainly kitesurf so we spend a bit of time away living in them and these stoves have proven to be very good. The only downside is the life of the butane cartridges but for a tenner they are brilliant.

I have a Vango, lightweight camping stove and the ten pound cheap stoves boils water way faster and is more stable when actually cooking due to the surface area.

I have a version of one of those stoves above in my van. Great bit of kit. Boils water very quickly and is very stable.

Injectors seem to be a recurring theme with friends vans at the moment. My mate has a VW Caddy and his first injector died about 2 months ago. No corrosion or other reason, just died. The second went last week. Now this is a 4 year old van that he has had from new.

Another mate his 3year old T5 has had 2 injectors die on him as well.

I luckily had all mine replaced from Vauxhall in my 07 plate vivaro. They were corroded. The sill on the windscreen did not direct the water away properly and instead let it in directly to the engine bay which in turn corroded them. I have now siliconed the sill so that no water is getting in.

Would not touch a VW at the moment to be honest. The amount of people i know who are having issues is pretty high.

Maxxis just seem to be winning in every category at the moment IMO.

Since you have already looked at Dougs’ site ill expand a bit on his backcountry trips. A bunch of have been out twice to do it and i have no real inclination to go anywhere else it is that good.

If you ping him an email he will give you a good rundown on what his plans are as i think he changes them a bit but the 2 years i went out we stayed in different accommodation every night bar Ainsa where we spent 2 nights. Mostly the riding is that perfect level of proper tech but not fall to your death if you get it wrong tech. Backcountry it is all the way and most days you finish very close to whichever accommodation you are staying in. Oh and the accommodation is amazing, proper rural hostels and villas. Food if you have never been to Basque is absolutely amazing s well.

Right i am srating to ramble. Chat to Doug but his holidays are absolutely 10/10.

JonEdwards, now that you can replace the 42 sprocket i think X01/XX1 is the best answer. Did you have any dramas changing it over??

    mactheknife

Just had a look at the hope 10-44 cassette and noticed that the top 4 cogs are aluminium which i presumed meant you could just replace the top 4 cog assembly. BUT i cant find that anywhere, just the full cassette. For now they will not be getting my cash. Aluminium in the cogs i use the most wont last a few months.

My XX1 cassette is lasting really well. On the second chain. Not sure about mileage but i am happy so far 🙂

I love my MRP Stage. Simple to set up, bottom out control knob is a great addition and actually just works 🙂

Had mine fitted for 8 months and i absolutely love them, i am about to drop the lowers to check oil levels but they certainly don’t need fettling. I just like to keep an eye on things.

    No brainer in my eyes.

No brainer for £60. they will change a lot of parts and you will get a set of brakes that will last a long time.

The taping was a bit of a nightmare on that stage, very tight with no real line choice options plus it was pretty full on for the first stage. BUT i still loved it.

Yea the rudder had a lot of work done on it and it was running so well. Plus the extension at the bottom was a top addition.
