Ill have a look at them tonight rone, you may be right about them being counterfeit.

I have the shims at home just now waiting to get fitted. Turner appear to have some lower link kits in stock now so i need to get back in touch with them.

Thanks for the heads up. Much appreciated.

After doing a fair bit of googling it seems to be a fairly common problem with the x2. It’s a shame as they fitted well and sounded really good. They have a years warranty for sweat damage so tempted to try another set.

Good stuff, so thats the only real difference from doing the front and rear??

I have watched a few online videos and in all honestly it looks pretty easy in the grand scheme of things. Its just that initial time never having done it before. MOT is due soon so i need to get cracking.

Slight return, i have a sett after a few recommendations on here.

All in all a great looking set of wheels. Very easy buying experience as well. I wont be keeping mine as i cant get on wit the stiffness that carbon wheels gives you in all honesty. But if you are going for a set then ill happily recommend these guys 🙂

Renton, if nobody else wants them ill take them off your hands.

    Much appreciated. email in profile.

Also rone, do you have any more info on these shims??

I have a set of stage forks. Absolutely love them. Very easy to set up. Supple in the top of the stroke and very supportive mid stroke. Ramp control is an ace feature. I might have read mboy incorrectly but they are not dear at all. I got mine from my lbs for £650.

Oh taking them apart for lower lube and services is easier than a set of pikes and they are a doddle. Just make sure you have a 1.5mm Allen key. Yep highly recommended.

Yep no issue at all, a bit of washing up liquid to help but no worse than any other rim.

Hey ormancheep, the whole subject pickles my head TBH, I’m not a complete nugget but financial advice ill happily pay for if it not only saves me money but makes me money. That’s a no brainier so opening and taking care of a SIPP would not work for me and i am very well aware of that. BUT the problem is finding someone who has the expertise to invest your money for you over a long period of time and not rip you off. I think I’ll stick this out for a couple of years and see how it progresses. I’m still putting a load into a Stocks and Shares ISA and I have property as well so I’m not throwing everything into one basket.

Ok, i may as well put my hand up here. I am pretty ignorant with pensions and am exactly the guy you have described mile_p. I have just signed on the dotted line with SJP.

In all honestly never once did i feel i was getting a hard sell. But this thread has really got me thinking.

So i am 4 months in at £500 a month through a limited company so fairly tax efficient.

Do i stay or bail with the full exit fees attached and try and find a better deal now. I will NEVER be much better informed about pensions which is why i will hppily pay for good advice

I put a post on here a while back asking about the benefits of carbon rims, the general consensus seemed to be that if you wanted them then buy them but they didn’t offer up many benefits.

I then promptly ordered a set of sixth element wheels.

After a few rides im not sure if i like them. The stiffness is very apparent which means you can be very precise in your riding but i liked the feeling that aluminium rims have. They just give a bit more.

I am going to bang my flows back on and see what i prefer when i go back to them but i might just sell these on.

Repeat offender was a blast yesterday, bit muddy at the top but surprisingly loads of grip. Even the roots were grippy 😯 go on i dare you to explain that one.

It was once pointed out to me by Northwind that Schwalbe tyres, especially Hands Dampf are particularly shite in scottish muck. I refused to believe him until i moved to Maxxis Minion front and Aggressor for the dry and Shorty for the front DHR2 rear for winter. What a combination. Grip galore and sheds clag / mud so no cloggy daft tyres.

Hey zelak, I just got these set up today, no problems with a minion front and rear. They went on really easily and popped on the rim like a champ.

First run out tomorrow up the golfie at inners so will have a better idea then. Plus if you are a tart like me they are sooooooo good looking.

I took the year off racing this year, i felt that my life and my free time was being dominated by it. I am not good but i was travelling a lot and having done both Trans Savoie and Trans Provence in the last 2 years i was putting a lot into training.

This year has been a blast. Just ride where and when i want with a lot of really cool mates i don’t always see.

Next year though 🙂 its all starting to creep in again, looking at entry dates for some more french craziness and more than likely as many of the SES as i can fit in.

But to answer your question the BES is probably your best bet for a good mix and also keeping it in one series. I live north of the border so the SES is the obvious choice for me.

It depends just how geeky you want to get, i love reading about different approaches to sports training and you can go so far down the rabbit hole 🙂

A couple of books for you to look at Functional fitness andMaffetone

Also have a look at this website The Tall Cyclist[/url]

I know none of them are enduro race specific but if you can understand the basics of why you train a certain way for certain sports then you can apply that knowledge to your situation.

It’s funny how designs split people. I like the simplicity of Turner designs and the fact they ride so bloody well. Each to their own though.

Exactly ^ those photos make it look like the cable routing is a bit bonkers what with the white on black but it’s the same as my RFX and it’s pretty bang on. And as for internal cable routing – why?? It’s hateful. You can hear my mates coming a mile as their cables rattle around inside their frames. Nope people love to point out supposed faults but after riding a few turner’s the proof is in the ride. I have never come away underwhelmed.

Chief ^^ has it. DHR2 is a cracking tyre on both front and back. My current choice is Minion DHF 3c up front for ” summer ” then shorty for the rest if the time. Aggressor is an ace tyre out back but I’ll switch back to dual compound DHR2 soon I reckon.

    £58 for an e13 tyre. Seriously 🙂

Not what you want to hear OW but I had mine completely sieze onto the freehub. When I tried to remove it i stripped the inside of the cassette so now they are one. Pain in the arse but it seems to be a recurring theme according to my LBS.

38mm rim with hope hubs. Nearly broke my heart parting with the cash but I’m just a tightarse so I’ll get over it VERY quickly 😀

Tracey, I finally bit the bullet and went for a set of wheels from Sixth Element today after seeing you recommend them on a few occasions. I’m a complete tart and they do look good 😀

njee has it, smaller chainring up front so your default climbing cog is not the 42t.

I’m up in deepest darkest jockland wookster so BPW is out of the question unfortunately.

Cheers for the reply Andy, my latest Google hunt when comparing weights was that decent AM carbon wheels are not any lighter. Mainly stiffer

There is a carbon sultan along with a new aluminium version early next year according to DT. My mate was enquiring and that was the top man’s answer. Carbon flux looks to be in the pipeline as well. The current thinking on MTBR is that there may not be a carbon burner due to the flux and RFX being the trail bike line up.

Completed both Trans Provence and Trans Savoie on mine, along with some hard scottish riding and i can honestly say they are not fragile frames. That crack above is an odd one, very rarely do welds crack like that, Its usually along the toe of the weld not in the main weld itself.

Is there any reason to choose these over a set from Blue Flow. They seem to have as good a warranty and are £230 cheaper per set. Genuine question as I am in the market at the moment and doing some research.

But of a bump really to see how everyone is getting on. Managed to get through the winter ok but absolutely dreading my next trip as things are becoming pretty intolerable now. Very nearly picked the phone up and called it a day. Can’t see me lasting much longer to be honest.

I had a bit of a fork dilemma at the start of the year for my new build Turner RFX.

After A LOT of humming and hahhing i went with a set of MRP Stage 27.5 forks. So far i could not be happier. I could ramble on for a long time but in essence they just work very well.

External adjustment is LSC and bottom out control which works in the last 4″ of travel in the same way pikes have tokens.

Buttery smooth in the first part of the stroke and very supportive through the rest. Oh and dropping the lowers for a 30 hour interval service is exactly like it is with the pikes. It could not be easier.

If you have any questions fire away 🙂
