Yea i bought a second hand Mondraker Neat recently from a local bike shop. Brand new motor so i was quite happy with that.

It is living up to everything i hoped it would be. My local loops are all boring slogs up with great descents and i wanted to spend less time going up and more down. And so far i seem to be achieving that aim.

Im very impressed with the TQ motor. Quiet and very unobtrusive. I don’t feel any weird start stops the way i did when i used a mates Orbea Rise. But like everything you get used to certain characteristics and adapt accordingly.

I do get a bit of power panic if im stretching the riding out. A range extended might be on the cards for next year.

As a mate once said to me, who cares what you ride as long as you are having fun. I think more people on here could adopt that attitude 🙂

Does you local libraries offer this service, my good lady is a librarian in Dundee and they all do here.

I have had my Highlander V1 for 4 years now. Absolutely love it. Got 160mm MRP coil up front and an EXT Storia. Mine is a medium and fits me perfectly, never had idler drag or felt it sluggish on the ups in the slightest.

It’s been all over Scotland. Main riding is Dunkeld, Ballo the Borders and it’s never missed a beat. Really can’t fault it at all.

I do a lot of calisthenics and it’s very humbling in that its really not easy and having poor mobility makes it even harder. I fitted a large pull up bar to the side of the house for use with Olympic rings as well as pull ups. I have a set of dip bars as well. Weighted sets of all if the above for progressiveness.

I just like having all my gear at home. Doing my workout then moving on with my day. I get very bored of the gym. I do go in the winter when it’s freezing but mainly calisthenics and kettlebells work very well for me.

I can handstand pretty well for 30s. That took me about 2 years to get good at. My main goals at the moment are handstand pushup along with strict muscle ups on the rings. Mind I mentioned humbling. It takes so long to progress to these but I enjoy the journey and the many small wins along the way.

I did buy a program for the muscle up. And it has been great for progressing the right way but I’m really struggling on one last part. The transition.

One advice I would go with. Don’t just randomly do stuff you se online. Lol at the guys like GMB Fitness. K Boges, bodyweight warrior and look at some of their free structured routines. Especially when beginning.

I’m mainly working towards Ring Muscle ups and bar muscle ups. The bells definitely compliment this by working the rest of the body and keeping muscular balances in check.

Again I have a very loose routine but always finish with an EMOM of the heavier bell 10 reps every minute for 10 rounds. It’s probably the only n9n negotiable.

My programs are based round the rings and bar 3x a week. The rest is general conditioning so nothing set in stone. TGU a couple of times a week. 5 in each side always keep me humbled 🙂

I’m the same, the majority of my training is with bells. Have a big pull up bar mounted to the side of the house I can have my rings on as well. I just like training with them, mainly TGU and other slightly technical movements. All I wish is I lived somewhere with warmer weather as scotland does not lend itself to training outside 8 months of the year 🙂

I know there is a general theme here that’s very correct in that the gear is not the issue. BUT my favourite camera I have ever used is a Ricoh GRiiix. Yes it’s expensive but I absolutely love popping it in my pocket when I am out and about and being able to take a snap almost instantly, anywhere. When I’m walking the dogs or out and about I’m not taking my sony / 50mm. Its size is what won me over. But the ability to set picture profiles in camera is very enjoyable. And I don’t shoot RAW. The point of the camera for me is all in the photo. So JPEG only.

So maybe take the Sony RX 100v with you everywhere for a week and look for some interesting ideas in the places you normally go to. I find having my camera with me all the time sharpens my interest amd makes me look at things differently.

Bear back, why is a van having mods a problem? Many many people mod their t5. Doesn’t change the likelihood of the engine spewing its guts!

Ok, is it for genreal ever day pics? or anything specific. Interchangeable lenses?

I have 2 different cameras for different things. My main body is a Sony A7iv. Love it. I do a lot of Landscape Astrophotography and Sports and everything inbetween. It seems to do everything i want very well. BUT i would never recommend this type of camera for daily duties.

For that i have a second hand Sony RX100iii. Amazing little point and shoot that can be fully customised. Again if this is too expensive pop onto ebay and just find a second hand lumix or Sony point and shoot. There are not any real poor ones from the last few years as far as i am aware. But i am a bit out of touch with most things out of the Sony bubble.

I am a big fan of buying second hand.

If anyone is on the fence with these and want to sell them on i would really like a second set for my hardtail.

Hopefully this image works OK. Both the olives were crushed but obviously not enough to grip the hose properly. Good chance I didn’t to them up properly. Never had this issue with brakes before and I have fitted loads.

    Olives

Ill post up some later when i can. I’m hoping it was user error and i am just being a nugget :0

Ye I’m pretty positive. But the even if not the barb seems too thin. Can be inserted and pulled out pretty easily by hand.

    mactheknife

So had a weird one today. Had a hose detach itself from the brake lever when I got the bike out the van. Thought user error when fitting the barbs into the hose. Gave the other hose a tug and that detached as well. Got home and took them apart and fitted 2 new barb / olives. These also didn’t grip into the hose and could be totally removed by hand. I expect the olives I bought from ebay are too thin to grip into the hoses.

So next step. Get in touch with hayes and try to get proper olives etc?? Or is there a supply in the UK. I can bang my old brakes back on but I really liked these.

So had a good few runs with these on and i am seriously impressed. very easy to bleed and set up.

I love the feel of them. Loads of modulation and power. I is happy 🙂

Too much lever throw for my liking. New rotors have been ordered. But after a short ride today I am seriously impressed. They feel top quality.

Extremely easy to bleed and set up.

Yea mine arrived on Tuesday. Just waiting for a bleed kit to come then I’ll get them fitted. I’ll see how they do on my used Magura rotors before I go looking at some 2mm options. They do look like a thing of beauty.

Got 2 absolute arsehole dugs and love them to bits. Both rescues so have their weird wee ways. Best decision we ever made was to give them a home.

But yea. Other people’s dogs can get on my wick so am very aware they are not for everyone. We do walk them at odd times and remote places so they get the runs they need without annoying other people.

Best forks ive ever had are a set of MSR Ribbon Coils. Ive had 2 sets and they are amazing.

Hate air forks with a passion after running coils.

Just to throw another set in the ring!

I stopped drinking in Jan 2021. So 2 years this jan. Was really not easy. I had got into a habit i could’nt seem to break and was drinking constantly.

Brewdog Alcohol free range got me through the first few months then when the habits / cravings wore off it was a lot easier to deal with.

Good luck all. Better sleep and fatter wallets await.

Life is what you want it to be. The only thing that stands in your way is the barriers that you put in front of yourself. That may seem trite but if you strip everything back to the basics then its true.

    Figure out what you want.
Figure out how to get there and just go for it.

You may get sidetracked in a different direction but that’s cool. What’s important is that you take positive steps in the direction you want to go. You really dont want to look back in your 70s and hate the person you are because you didn’t have what it took to go and get what you wanted.

If action photography is part of your aim then Mirrorless is unlikely to be the best bet due to inferior autofocus.

Naw mate, thats total tosh. Look at the Sony A9 for a dedicated sports mirrorless and try and tell me that has inferior autofocus.

Again, treat whatever camera you look at as an ecosystem. The lenses are specific to the camera models so if you decide to go Sony or Canon for arguments sake then you will be spending a fair bit on lenses for that system and that system alone.

Myself, i use a sony A7iii and it doesn’t lack in any department. Canon have an amazing range but im not up to date on specific models.

Autofocus really is the crucial part though. For Landscape photography the original A7 is perfect.
But for sports its not until the A7iii and original A9 came out that the autofocus was up the required standard for this.

On Joe Rogan. I listen to him a lot on my long drives. I dont see him as a gobshite. He has a range of very very interesting guests on his show and he is head and shoulders above other podcasters in his ability to have long and interesting conversations with them. Its easy to filter out his views on the vaccines though. Same as i filter out the whiff if hysteria that runs through this thread at times.

In todays world he is extremely more relevant than Neil Young and whoever that other one is. Joni who?? 🙂

Bruneep, why should i search for it. Just say what your issues were. And like i said. Ive had not a single issue in 18 months of hard riding. The bike just keeps on working well. Got a free set of seals i didnt ask for as some people reported issues with theirs. Not really a sign of a company that just leaves you high and dry when things go wrong. So i possibly could be a fanboy but i think i have good reason to be.

had issues with known seal drag

That along with other issues that were denied were an issue when I raised my concerns.

Ive had a highlander for about 18 months and ridden it all over scotland. Mainly Dunkeld, the golfie and ballo. Its given me absolutely no problems in that time. Its by far the best bike i have ever owned. Climbs well, descends even better. Maybe im just lucky but i don’t think so.

And what’s the deal with being so cryptic. You had issues which nobody is disputing. Why not just say what they were.
