There are a whole variety of different types of aluminium alloys: usually developed to provide greater ultimate tensile strength (UTS), corrosion resistance etc .
There are a whole variety of reasons why things break, but it is not always a lack of UTS; yield strength is important as well as fracture toughness and resistance to stress corrosion cracking must also be considered.

For the FSA / financial ombudsman to get involved you will need to be able to pass to them a record of all the phone-calls (time, dates), letters etc to the bank plus a note of times dates that you visited the bank to discus the problem etc.
Otherwise the FSA cannot do much to decide if there is anything for them to get involved in as the bank will say the matter is still being dealt with.

IF recommend shot, even though shot blasting is normally considered far too aggresive for a bike frame. Vapour blast is maybe a better choice.

7005 can be precipiation hardened at room temperature (naturally aged) to the T6 condition over a period of 2 or 3 weeks.
To weld 6061 if it is already in the T6 condition and then artificially age it would take it to the T7 condition (which can happen when a frame is powder coated, similar time and temperatures are involved). T7 = overaged.

Can you explain what happens in an electron beam welding chamber? in particular when the vacuum is created in the EBW chamber.

Have a look on Youtube there is a video of Kent Erikson titanium frames; where they bead blast the whole frame, then polish a smallish area put some (decals) indiviual letters on then blast that area again to have the name in contrast in shiny metal and the rest of the frame matt.
Bead blasting is possibly a way of stress relieving (reducing the risk of surface cracks developing) the frame. Polishing a frame that has been bead blasted (might) will remove the benefits (if any) of having had it beadblasted.

You might be thinking of diffusion bonding (or maybe activated DB) but the bonding surfaces need to be very clean, linished, considerable load to squeeze the two plates together etc and will not happen on a bike.

To prevent galling it is sufficient to use MoS2 on titanium (to prevent bonding is certain areas of the DB fan blade yttrium is used).

Titanium in contact with other metals eg aluminium can result in galvanic corrosion

Steel or aluminium frame?
There is a thing called a Rivnut that can be used; which is effectively a blindrivet /poprivet type of insert that can be fitted into the hole in the frame and already has an M5x0.8mm thread.
