I tried an LT Tallboy against an SB95 and went with the SB95 its worth considering if you are looking for something with agility and big hit capability. Normally I am SC all the way.

Joplin 4 has been with me for about 2.5 years and has been excellent, have to replace the brass plates every now again but they are a wear part and 2pure cust service is legendary. I covered the stanchion from word go with a neoprene chainstay protector if you get one that uses hydraulics this is a must. I think you can get them for a good price now as well.

I know this is an old thread but Im trying to work out if one of these hope guards will fit on the new SLX and XT chainsets. Looks like it wont due to the tabs being different on new chainsets, am I talking crap?

Yes thought of that I have never suffered from that problem but would be a shame to find I do after shelling out £75

Wow that was quick 5 mins later after my email:

Thanks that’s a big typo, just changed. 0 degree rise

All tested properly at manufacturer, and this is a very strong bar.

The only way to weaken this bar is to overly tighten the stem/controls.

It would be good for your 29er set up.

Ha! Did not see that. Also says 0° angle up … it’s a flat bar

    Im confused will call them

Are you choosing a bike based on frame colour 😯

I tried a Tallboy LT back to back with an SB95. My Yeti arrives shortly. Been riding SC for years but I was blown away by the SB95. IMHO the suspension works better and the mid stroke is stiffer which lets it be a whole lot more fun than the LT, for me the LT was point and shoot, kind of numbed the trail… if that makes sense

I had same question for a manufacturer so rang em and they said its the same if your large on a 26″ it works out the same on the 29″ even if, as in this case, the TT is longer.

2013 SLX out soon will have option for 2/3 speed within shifter, they look real nice too.

Thanks that is what I do now but I thought there would be a shifter that is double specific seeing as there is a double specific front mech, or am I missing something – can you get a 10 speed front shifter that is 2x

Wouldn’t a twistgrip be better for the suss adjustments?

    yes

oh yeah and at every price point below 2k and that’s a good thing. But I’ve normally seen XT as really good kit and reasonable vfm, now it seems to be bloody pricey and I’m having trouble justifying* the expense (to myself).

SLX all the way XT is overpriced comparatively

Out of interest, does anyone’s mobile’s even recognise the word scummy?

Mine doesn’t & I was erring on Ian’s side before the auto correct statement

Hey Poirot this is true mine doesn’t either…

I have been looking at the V60 but for the price you can buy a bmw 3 series touring and Im pretty sure the bm would outshine it. For a start 177bhp and higher mpg.

Im using Ardents on the rear of my HT and FS great tyre to take a bit of abuse and lovely if you dont mind drifting on corners a bit. I have just switched to an exo walled one on the rear and its v tough and light too. Did have ignitors but they are not high volume and for me were crap as even the UST versions kept pinching against the rim.

I would not use Ardents as a front tyre again not good for tight singletrack where you cant lean the bike in enough to make them bite but as a rear tyre have been impressed.

I use these but if you dont want to spend any money (and you already have superglue) use a piece of innertube and some superglue to patch it, remember to use some sandpaper to prep. Also these:

Are awesome if you get a puncture whilst out and about and want a fix without taking your wheel/tyre off.

Could of done with a signpost saying free beer this way or pain that way… I would of made an informed choice then 😀

Enjoyed it this year as a challenge but yes there was too much fireroad both up and down. Great laugh and a good crowd though. Thanks to all that helped with my 3 punctures with your acts of charity.. I was the guy with a trophy sellotaped to my lid.

I have had some of these for couple of years and they are great – you forget you have them on v. comfortable and have saved me on a few occasions.

Cheap too if you have small knees 🙂

The string things do work but they are really designed to get you home not for every day riding. They rescued me last night when I had a 10mm slash in tyre. Had to use 2 of them then fixed with weldite tubeless tyre repair patchs and superglue, dont quite trust it now though….

I did pretty much same as you, went for a soul and it has amazed me far exceeded my expectations. And this is an older one so if they have made an amazing bike better….

it is a bit rubbish thought I was getting a bargain on an x7 rear mech then realised that there is only a couple of quid between their price and the wider web. Got a Truvativ AM 70mm stem for £15…

I would not use SB8’s for tubeless again the UST versions are around 1kg 😯 and the non UST kept puncturing and burping. You could try Crossmark or TT Larsen

Would shat my pants if I came off and had this on my bike… would just make riding my bike too stressful

Sorry that wasn’t very clear… as it is £2000

Good idea but I think electric offers more possibilities and weight savings. Would shat my pants if I came off and had this on my bike… would just make riding my bike too stressful, counter productive
