11-25 39/52 here, not had to get off and push yet….think a 28 would be quite nice though sometimes.

Big ring issue sounds like worn teeth, and maybe stiff chain links for the other?

Had a lightish Anthem, light seatpost clamp kept breaking, light tyres kept getting punctures, just wasnt up to demanding trails which dampended enjoyment when having to stop fix etc – put a meatier front tyre and thomson seatpost adding a couple of pounds and fully worth it, faster times too.

No email for 4 weeks? 4 hours without would be P1 Incident and all hell breaking loose.

I got some 988’s recently, upgraded from some 2004 Hope Mono Mini’s – I can only compare them to the Hopes but they are very powerful and they are grabby but I put that down to only riding with them a few times so far and having to learn to use them, basically gentle one finger braking does the job for most trails. I like them.

Rothan is fantastic, light and well made, rear mini v that works great – 100% recommend.

As above, change the ring – the worn chainring teeth hook the new chain causing suck.

Depends on age of your kids but just off M5 by Weston Super Mare is a place called puxton park – farm, soft play, cafe etc

Do a fat tyre bike tour if you get the chance – one I did was quality.

Download Brother Musson’s guide – brilliant.

I bought a cheapo jig (£30ish)and it’s pretty good to be fair, means you can sit in front of telly with it on the coffee table which is better than messing around using a bike frame/forks but obviously bike frame does the job. Issue with the jig I have is I find the tolerance guides could be more accurate, guess that changes when you spend more dosh.

After the first couple of wheels it gets easier and as said above very addictive.

The “rules” are spot on, Sean Kelly quip never fails to amuse – lots of others are so right too for sure.

Got 120mm Reba’s on my C456 and it rides great.

16″ Frame inc drop outs and hope headset is 1660g taped up.

With mid range kit it’s built into a mid 22lb bike which is amazing, lots of scope to lighten if needed but doesnt really need to be lighter and can add longer forks in future if required.

    Pretty much ticks all boxes.

22.96 Gerald, was lighter with SLR saddle but I guess the scales could be out.

For easy and cheap with very good result just seal meat (I use brisket) in an oven proof dish (or slow cooker) then add onions carrots herbs and couple of crushed garlic cloves, maybe a bit of worcestershire sauce if you have it, cover with stock and put in oven for 3 hours. Sieve and use the remaining liquid to make gravy.

    Serve with mash and cabbage.

In the back of my mind I was thinking if I spent out on the parts and they still didnt work and I then had to send them off to HOPE anyway I would have been a bit gutted.

HOPE is 45 + postage per brake I think

    Three Fish – great guide.

Any idea why the pistons have different numbers on them??

    m6dwn
    Free Member

Yeah, bought the pistons – £3.50 each and a seal kit £6ish which I only needed a few bits from so have some spares for the future. For something so cheap to do it makes a big difference.

I was considering spending £250 on some brand new brakes, I’m so glad I gave it a go.

Same chainset and bottom bracket from old frame on a new frame.

If I remember it did take some force to remove from old frame but seems excessive, surely cant need so much force? As said above I would agree a firm push with hand would be enough.

    m6dwn

How much force is needed? When it wouldnt go any further it took some serious hits with the hammer from the other side to free it.

Corrosion is all along the shaft, flaking metal finish etc.

If you put a 68 BB into a 73 wide shell with a spacer isnt the tube going to be a little further away from the cups? A small detail I guess but curious.

    m6dwn

What about the plastic tube, that will be 5mm shorter, do you still use the tube?

    Which side for the spacer?
