OSX El Capitan installed. Not liking split screen, seems very un-intuitive and doesn’t appear to work with mail which remains hidden behind safari for example.
I don’t have to use it though, and haven’t noticed any other differences really so can’t grumble. It was a free update after all. Oh, the notes thing is great, about time it became useful!
m360Free MemberDownloading it now…if I’m not back in an hour send out a
search partygenius :lol:m360Free MemberWow, loads of replies and they all seem to agree, that’s gotta be a first! Too many good/funny comments to reply to them all :D
Thanks all, makes me feel much better about the whole thing and I’m looking forward to my holiday. However this does sum it up:
Seems odd to me and, although it seems odd to most/all folk on this thread, it seems like your family believe you should be there so it doesn’t matter what we think and its going to take some serious diplomacy to come out of this not looking like a sh$t in your families eyes…good luck with that!
In fairness to my sister (given she is probably hormonal/excited/whatever), my mother is equally (or perhaps more) to blame for starting this, and will most likely be the one that drags it on until the babies 1st Birthday (which I shall have no excuse not to attend as I’ll have had 12 months notice!).
m360Free Memberrichc – thanks for the links. The towel looks good to me (I want one!)
m360Free MemberAre we missing something. Does she have another child know one else can care for? Is the farther not around and your parents too old or ill to help out?
Not missing anything, there are LOADS of family around her, from both sides.
Now I hate myself or this next bit, but
Never visits me since I moved away (10 years ago 3 visits!).
rarely visits me since I moved away (10 years ago 3 visits)I’ll let you off, my bad :P
Thanks for the rest of the replies, makes me feel a bit better about it. As a compromise I’ll offer to go down on my next day off, a week or so after the birth perhaps, and let Moonpig do the rest
m360Free MemberDon’t think I’d be in for the actual birth, just sat in a waiting room! Yes, is planned section
m360Free MemberYou need to find the seller! The original owner isn’t the one with your cash, and the only chance you have of getting that back is from the seller. You can’t sell it on knowing it’s stolen and I’m surprised the police haven’t come to take it from you yet.
m360Free MemberDon’t have it, so nope. Might dig the fan heater out in December if I run out of jumpers.
Anyone else still commuting in shorts?
m360Free MemberI’ve had the opposite, my battery life has increased.
You can go into settings-battery and see what is using power by %
m360Free MemberWear rate seems OK, not excessive so think you’ll be happy. This is highly dependant on vehicle and driving style though, but I reckon they’re as good as any other grippy tyre.
m360Free MemberThinking about Uniroyal Rain expert 3
Awesome tyre. Great grip in the wet and dry, unless it’s above 27 degrees then they seem to squeal and squirm. Had them on several cars now. Usually cheap and on offer somewhere as well.
Just get them, you’ll not be disappointed (they really are brilliant in the wet!)
m360Free MemberOver 3 months for a Sony laptop motherboard. Not like I needed it for Uni or anything
m360Free MemberMaybe it’s a deduction for all the time you spend on STW (probably using the company phone and PC) instead of working?
m360Free MemberPendalton range? Cheap enough and available locally so she can take look/have a sit on them for size.
m360Free MemberYou do realise she doesn’t need a Macbook
Of course, since when did “need” ever come into it though! :P
They’re not THAT much more expensive than Windows equivalents either.
Nowadays they are.
[/quote]
Just done a filter search on PC World (for a quick comparison)
8GB Ram
256GB SSD
i5 or i7 processor
13.3″-14″ screen
1.5kgs or lessMy Macbook Air, purchased from Apple directly as a student, came to £850, which is in the middle of the PC World offerings.
m360Free MemberYou do realise macbooks cost eight times what chromebooks do, right?
Yup, you do realise a Chromebook isn’t a macbook though, right?
m360Free MemberSame problem on 5c, hadn’t noticed until now, so thanks for that!
m360Free MemberCheers for all your thoughts, but still can’t make our minds up???
The right answer was the first one
everyone’s got one
student discount as well
Not sure what you’re waiting for
Mine has been brilliant. The “spec” may seem low but it multi-tasks better than anything else I’ve used, never crashes, never has a virus or malware, never does anything other than what it should. She’ll get MS office for free from the Uni. Battery life lasts all day, and they are a pleasure to use. They’re not THAT much more expensive than Windows equivalents either.
My Viao was £800. Supposedly better spec yet it kept crashing, had a shorter battery life, weighed twice as much and was twice as thick. The Mac outperforms it in every way, and looks/feels much nicer 8)
Of course, if your budget is £300 then scrub the above!
m360Free MemberI’m not introducing this to flame a MS v Apple debate in any way but…
In terms of presentations and PowerPoint, I think most people could learn a lot from watching Apple’s Keynote speeches. THAT is how to do a presentation IMO.
m360Free MemberFound the fix, and it wasn’t resetting the whole phone
1. Open Settings
2. Go to “Restrictions”
3. If Siri is turned off here, that’s why it’s not showing as it should normally.Turned on under “Allow” in restrictions and Siri is back.
Dunno how or why it turned off but there you go. All working now 8)
m360Free MemberJust decided to give Apple a go, so will see how this pans out.
Opened a case in 1 minute, they sent me a link which I clicked, and they called me 2 minutes later. Talked me through some steps and now my phone has been erased 8O
All part of the process, apparently it’ll be restored back to exactly as it was, except with Siri on board!
Fingers crossed :?
m360Free MemberIt’s actually proven to be more aerodynamic NOT to shave as the hairs smooth the airflow over the legs. Hairy guys go faster.
That’s reason enough not to shave IMO.
m360Free MemberJust tired the search in settings, shows General-Siri, click on it but goes to General only, no Siri there.
Hmm.
m360Free MemberTake it back to the retailer you purchased it from, Camelbak come with a lifetime guarantee and are pretty good about it (either send you a new seal or a new bladder).
m360Free MemberGreat stuff, I’m just researching a 3 to 4 day trip myself and glad to have come across this.
Wasn’t gonna bother with bike luggage and ship stuff ahead, but this may have convinced me otherwise…
m360Free MemberSlime tubes and puncture resistant tyres are pretty much a must I think. They suck the “life” out of the bike, but every time I think of putting something lighter/comfier/quicker on I remember how much I hated opening the shed to find a puncture!
Cheap flashing lights stay on the bike, along with a front light for seeing where I’m going. Mudguards make the world of difference.
I carry an airzone type rucksack which has the basics in it (multi-tool, tube, pump, patches). Doubt I’d be changing anything on the way to work but I have the kit to fix it during lunch or before leaving. It’s also hi-viz, which saves the need for hi-viz clothing.
Security wheel skewers and seatpost bolt mean one less thing to lock up.
Panniers are only fitted if I have a big shop to do or loads to collect from work. For me having the rucksack means everything is with me when I get off the bike and pop in the shops etc. Nothing worse than faffing removing or locking everything every time!
I only used £30 of diesel last month, and that was taking my mountain bike somewhere more interesting!
m360Free MemberLoan Bike Returned Damaged
Erm…
I’ve not got the bike yet but it may even be possible that the left hand 105 shifter has been over shifted and is now broken as well.
We don’t even know if there’s anything to fix! OP talked about cosmetics and “possibly” the shifter. But then, this thread is mostly about assumptions isn’t it.
This is, however, STW
I agree though, until you pick the bike up and discuss it in person this is a none-issue.
This is, however, STW
As for constructive comments, here’s one:
Get a grip, be a grown-up, and wait and see what tomorrow brings when you actually go to collect the bike!
m360Free Memberit bounced me around like nobody’s business and my hands were killing
I’ve found there’s a fine balance between tyre pressure and “bouncing around/hand pain”.
Also relaxing your grip whenever possible helps. But yeah, it’s gonna be harder work and some sections you just gotta accept you’ll be riding slower than you think you can (even flatter sections when it’s properly bumpy).
I used to ride a 17lb 26″ Airborne LS around the Dalby red on a regular basis. Proper rigid, 26″, 2.1 Speedkings running at 40psi. Always felt like i’d done the distance at the end of the ride.
Did these the other week on my rigid LS. Was properly beaten up after Dalby!
m360Free MemberThanks guys, will take a closer look at the 20. Problem with most of the maps though is the price. 1:25k is very expensive, and 1:50k doesn’t show enough detail, so I’d have a 1:25k paper map anyway.
Think I’ve settled on the idea of an Etrex rather than a watch though, mostly for AA battery use and cost.
m360Free MemberI have one of those tektro hangers, yours for £6.50 posted if you like. Brand new, boxed. Sold bike before I got around to fitting it (same issue as you!).
m360Free MemberPretty sure most Sealskinz gloves now come with touchscreen capability.
I would really recommend some bar muffs.
I got a cheap pair for about £10 last winter and they were probably the best cycling purchase I have ever made!Where did you get these from? How do you find them for signalling etc (easy to get your hands in and out of or do you get used to it?).
m360Free Memberhis current employers are idiots who can’t understand just what a great idea it would be, to invest a bit of money in this, and what great potential dividends it could produce
Or maybe they are realistic and don’t have money, time or resources to throw at someones hobby?
m360Free MemberHad this recently with new XT set-up, folk on here suggested bedding them in and that worked a treat. Find a long hill and brake all the way down it, repeat a couple of times if needed 8)
m360Free MemberAdapters allow different rotor sizes should you want to change so they are fine by me.
PM-PM adapters would still allow this though.
m360Free MemberRaise your saddle. I get similar issues when I realise my saddle has slipped or Im on a mates bike etc.
Loads of calculations for saddle height etc. but this is a start:
Put a book against the wall, between your legs, as if it were a saddle. Measure from the floor to the top of the book to get your inside leg measurement.
Input details here saddle height calculator
Try it. I bet your saddle is way lower than this guide. It’s by no means perfect, but offers a starting point. Free to try on your next ride.
m360Free MemberMy only mtb, yeah, it’s slower on some stuff than a full suss, and I ache more after a day on that than I would a bouncer, but I love it. It’s great on sweeping singletrack, and light, lighter than anything I could build or afford to buy now, so I’ll stick with it:
Might put suspension back on the front one day, might not. Might trim that steerer down one day as well, or might not!
m360Free MemberI had this with Clarkes brakes on the rear. Had to put a 1.5mm washers under the calliper even when using an IS to Post mount adapter. Later fitted BB7, and now XT using the same mount (and disc) but no washers needed.
Strange, but there you go.
