Theres just enough “slack” steel pipe to cut it at the nut, then re-flare it with a new one. Been there, done that!

    I wouldn’t have gone to 4mm, that sounds a bit much… 8O

I’ve found that angling my saddle nose down just a click, and moving it forward 10mm, has really made a difference to me. Worth a try.

Wrth giving it a wash and reproof with nikwax tech wash and tx direct. Might restore it to its former glory.

    I’d do it.

Look for something that will take mudguards, I mean proper full ones, not temporary/clip on ones. And rack mounts if you think you’ll want a rack (makes the commute so much nicer in my opinion).

An extra 800grms in rack and mudguards is well worth it, and frames without mounts just make it more complicated/limit your options.

Edit: as above (must type faster!)

Have you looked at the settings for notifications (or something like that). My old Garmin used to have the options “at turn” or at various distances or times before turns. If yours is set close/short then, add to that any delays with the GPS itself, it used to equal overshoots.

Not the same GPS, and not used for bike touring, but there was definitely something in the options.

Also, have you set it to “bike” and not walk/car/boat (if it has these options).

Just a few ideas, but as I say, not actually used the Edge.

A security post would be the best option.

You’ll probably need to retreat the fabric afterwards as I suspect the Dettol stuff will also take off the waterproof coating.

I don’t reckon any amount of waterproofing will help

The inner fly doors (the meshy ones) have some mould on them.

Damn, does this mean that nobody is going to make 26″ tyres anymore.
I am all worried now .

Should I cancel my order for this then?

Thanks, I think it’s 118mm length, but will double check once I get the crank off.

Good ol’ bucket and brush seemed to work for me. Why complicate things?

    Yup:

    Blackburn Rack

    with one of these:

    Seat clamp[/url]

Pull QR Skewer out, stick original back in, lift off seat clamp (leave it attached to rack), stick original back on.

Quite light, yet a proper solid rack, and much better than seat post mounted racks for carrying anything more than my lunch 8)

Add to that one or two Ortlieb pannier and you’re good to go. The panniers are awesome, lift on/off with one hand, just click on, no messing around, and the shoulder strap makes it easy to pop-in the shops/take the bag into work etc. Very happy with this set-up to be honest.

However, i do “only” have one bike in my stable, and was looking at the Kaffenback frame just the other day!

I’ve just put slicks, rigid fork, panniers and a rack on my mtb for a spot of touring. Go for it, you don’t need anything special or a new bike if you are happy to spend a few minutes switching tyres and unbolting a rack (I don’t even do that, got a quick relase mounted one, at the skewer and seat clamp).

Of course, if you would’t be seen dead with bottle cages and bar ends, and don’t want to leave the rig ids on for the odd trail bash then it may take you a few minutes longer to convert, but not much (disc brake set-up is the longest part, when swapping forks).

So hang on, you’re jetting off on a summer holiday with your newborn, whiles some poor sod is covering your shifts because you’re on paternity leave. And when you get back to work I bet you’ll both want to take you actual holiday entitlement, maybe for a trip to lapland? Or not work Xmas because it’s babies first? Don’t remember the last time I had a holiday…Never got paternity leave in my day…. Grumble, moan, boa, grumble…

Which video is this? I’d have thought STW would have mentioned a new Danny Mac video

Is this a mountain bike we’re talking about? The thing that most of us throw down rocky and muddy trails, crash a lot, and wear stuff out on?

Or is it one of those Audi roof-top accessories?

Stick some electrical tape over the wear (then forget about it when you advertise the forks in the classifieds), stick the guard back on, and carry on riding

Cane Creek Ergo bar ends are the way forward (and have been since the end of the 90’s). Wouldn’t be without mine.

Internal recall, by the way, is something to do with low stock.

Stock consolidation is the correct term, not recall. Stupid thing is you could probably go and click and collect the parts and they’d be sent right back to your local store

LDV Maxus. Cheap because they’re not a VW or a Transit.

Plenty of them around with money in your budget to spare for kitting it out.

Starts well, then you get into the middle and then the characters just get tedious.

Stick with it, or turn it off. Watch something else. No one cares…

Netflix is great though. Try OITNB or American Haunting next.

Air will do everything you want, and battery life is great.

Phone apple and chat with them. I got a free upgrade to 8GB when I told them my needs, and paid for the 256GB HDD. Very happy. It easily has all my apps open, streams movies to my TV via airplay, whilst letting me browse the web on my knee.

Very impressed, WAY quicker than my Vaio, never crashes, just does what it should!

The only downside to it is limited ports (only 2 USB, so I bought a VGA and Ethernet adapter though) and no DVD drive (so I bought an external one). All of these take up ports though, so a USB hub may be worthwhile. 99% of the time I don’t need any though.

I’ve seen too many deaths on the road, I don’t want to see any more and actually just want everyone to be safe, and no not locked up for wearing the wrong attire.

    A nobel cause indeed.

I, for one, feel much safer knowing that one day I might read someone else’s thoughts about my choice of road and clothing on the internet. The fact that a complete stranger would care enough to rant about it on a forum makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Keep up the good work.

In my last race, last month, the chap who won in my age category rode a real old school steel frame with steel forks, straight alu bars and cantis. Just saying like.

You missed out the most important detail, the secret to this guys success… what wheel size was he using?

wild camping = phone off/at home surely?

Edit – just realised, you’ll probably want to check with the STW-ers what to have for dinner/breakfast each day. Of course, that’ll depend on what pedals you have, the alignment of the moon, and how many spacers under your stem…

The simplest and most expensive way of getting robbed is selling it on ebay. Once the buyer decides they can’t afford it or don’t want it they’ll open a “not as described” case and ebay will refund them out of your pocket.

Hmm…actually, have you got the listing number
