Didn’t fancy one using a battery, but might have to give them a look.

North Face traction mule are good. Super warm and you can wear them outside, in camping barns, huts, etc. The insole is super thick and warm for those of us who don’t have under floor heating.

Are you absolutely sure that there isn’t room for a space saver under the boot floor?

I know all the big retailers & even some smaller ones have to offer a battery recycling scheme, but can they take these batteries?

Yes, they can.

It’s been snowing in Peterlee (NE England), but now the rain has started so it’s turning sh!tty

You cant blame the rain for turning Peterlee sh!tty

A dusting in Durham overnight but bright and clear this-morning.

I have a travel mug that isvery good quality but too insulated for my daily commute and the tea is too hot to drink for the whole journey and ends up being thrown down a drain when arriving at work.

I therfore use cheapy ones which allow it to cool to a drinkable temperature more quickly.

Or, here’s an idea, just add a splash of cold water to the mug…

Well, I click and collected an Abus Bordo 6100 folding lock (RRP £74.99) for £1 on Friday. Noticed loads of silly prices/mistakes (Lezyne lights, gloves, jackets, pannier racks, etc) but couldn’t believe one (that I needed) was actually available 1 mile away!

Anyway, got a phone call 10mins later and collected it straight away. For £1. No arguments at all.

I have the Camelbak Forge and it is pretty good. Doesn’t leak and keeps drinks plenty hot enough. I’d say it suits your needs.

Having been there I’d say have zero contact with the ex at all, ever, not even a text. What is the point? What possible good can it do you except drag the pain on for longer.

I’d have beat the s”it out of the husband. Let him explain that to his wife. However, you texted him when you found out so I suggest that makes us different people. I’m sure that his wife already knows or suspects, but isn’t ready to confront him. Leave her be and save yourself any hassle.

Do whatever makes you feel better though. I pawned the rings and spent our joint account on booze and hookers. Was great, in a self-destruct kind of way.

have two of them at me feet shaking with fear despite the radio and TV at full blast trying to drown out the noise of fireworks.

Have you got Strictly on? It might well be that and not the fireworks. It has me cowering behind the sofa every time Craig tries to crack a smile :D

One of these. Just realised how much I miss that car. Wrote it off within a month by driving into a ditch.

That’s how 90% of people park around here and it boils my p**s.

Even when parked on the pavement there’s not enough room rot two cars to pass each other, so it has achieved nothing except to damage the footpath and cause an inconvenience to pedestrians.

5) Delete FB chat. WTF, as if FB wasn’t bad enough!

It’s a free Web based chat system, fairly similar to what we used to call texting. Should I delete the text app too?
It only owns you if you let it, not sure I have to enter an isolation chamber to do that.
Which, if you read past point 5, was what I said (in relation to the OP’s original post, not your personal love affair with “chatting” via FB.

The message is simple, don’t let it rule your life. It’s there when you need it, and silent when you don’t.

If all that fails, leave it in your locker at work!

Right, I’m off to the pub to chat with real people

I use a chain and padlock, folded up inside a water bottle. I think it’s a ‘master’ lock from Wicks.

Neat idea.

This looks good, if a little long (so maybe not fit in a pocket?). Would be great for securing to bike racks, or securing luggage, helmet etc. I do like the multi-use idea.

I have one of the JE James retractable locks somewhere. Think it’s very short though and very easily broken.

The Aero Mouse may fit the bill. Would fit in a pocket easily by the looks of it and the price is right!

For reference, I do have this for my main lock/higher risk areas:

D lock and cable

Thanks, I have a good Kryptonite D lock (£45), and happy to carry that to the station each day on my commuter as I use it for locking in the shed also.

Was after an extra lock to double it up, or use as a single lock for low risk areas. The combination lock does look ok, just thought there may be a lighter/less bulky option but maybe not?

Can’t be arsed to read all of that but:

1) Set a do not disturb time for your phone from say 8pm to 7am.
2) Turn off notifications for apps etc. I have to open my email to see if I have a new one. So I only do that when I want to, not when it tells me.
3) Switch of notifications on the home screen. That way, when you go to phone a takeaway you don’t notice 50 missed emails etc.
4) Just delete FB and twitter from it, you don’t need al of the distractions on your phone. or, like me, just set them not to auto-refresh or give notifications.
5) Delete FB chat. WTF, as if FB wasn’t bad enough!
6) Pretty much all of the above, in whatever form you like.

The message is simple, don’t let it rule your life. It’s there when you need it, and silent when you don’t.

If all that fails, leave it in your locker at work!

Before I go to an actual shop

If you’re going to an actual shop you’ll know soon enough

Great gear BTW. I sized up in the shell jackets, but usually do.

They keep the mud and water out of your crack, which is a good thing in my opinion. As above, they don’t protect much else. I leave one on my mountain bike all the time now.

You can use your lights during the day as well you know. I reckon that would be just as safe/unsafe as cycling in the fog at any other time.

Not happy ive had to break my non sick record

Well the only person that cares about that is you.

Regarding the food, I’d phone the local council food safety dept and let them know, there may be other cases from this place (if it was that). Also they may want to take a sample of your food so keep any packaging/sample until you’ve spoken to them.

There is a number to call to pay and another number for enquiries. It may be worth a call, but I don’t want to waste any more of my holiday in a dispute

Pay the £25 then. And stop wasting time on STW

Or just make a quick call and get an answer from the company…can’t tae longer than logging in and asking here!

Looked at new TV’s with my Dad yesterday, and the new Samsung SUHD with nano stuff looked GREAT, way better than anything else in store.

Didn’t notice a reduced viewing angle with the curve, actually thought it seemed better.

Overall the viewing experience was superb on the flat or curved versions to be honest.

[quoteBut the majority of car journeys are single occupancy. Everyone travelling in an individual big metal box with three or four empty seat in it is just not sustainable as the population grows.
I’m single, and no matter how often I try picking people up at the roadside they just don’t want to get in a car with a stranger. If I removed four of my seats would that be ok?

Keep in mind we don’t know when this “incident” started and when the kids actually started filming. The conversation may have started in his garden, or 10 minutes before filming started, in a more polite/less aggressive manner. The kids aren’t going to film that are they?

There’s two sides to every story, and it just goes to show how intolerant society can be, whichever side you are on…

This guy has obviously come to the end of his tether with kids jumping over his fence (how many times a day we don’t know, but it’s obviously more than once or twice). He should have walked away and not engaged them any further, especially when the filming starts, but he still did better than I would have.

Next thing is to build a higher fence, anti vandal paint, razor wire and a German Shepard. That would make them think twice about kicking their ball over.

Wild Country Hoolie fit the bill? They do an ETC version if you want a larger porch.

Or why not get a Tee-pee such as the Nordisk Asgard Link to Glamping

PS – If you do want one of the Hoolies I could do you a new Hoolie 3 ETC for £160, or the Hoolie 3 for £120 if you fancied (plus £3.50 p&p)…

Thjis is the one I bought

It’s had a serious amount of use and abuse (I used to do a lot of steel fabrication, welding, land rover bumpers, that sort of thing). Machine Mart have everything out, great for all sorts of bits!

I bought one from machine mart many years ago, and I’m very happy with how it’s doing. I shopped around for an :old” vice second had but they command a high premium. Went for the cheaper option as a stop-gap and glad I did. Mine rotates and has pipe grips on the opposite jaws also. Very useful.

At least 7 or 8 different rear lights, from head to toe and at least 4 front lights. One of the front lights (preferably helmet mounted) must burn out the retinas of anyone who dare look in your direction.

Oh, and a beard. You gotta have a beard.

Include bank holidays in their annual holiday entitlement.

So if they get 25 days a year, up to 5 of those may include compulsory bank holidays off.
If they work the BH then they don’t use one of their 25 days and get to take it at another time (in lieu as you say).

Thanks Milkie, that looks similar to what I had in mind.

Manage your TV viewing ?? I really think you need to give yourself a shake and go out for a walk in the fresh air. Speak to some people. Or get a dog or something.

Gave myself a shake last night, cycle everyday, go for plenty of walks, speak to far too many people throughout the day at work, landlord won’t let me have a dog.

Also, I enjoy watching TV as part of a balanced lifestyle.

Hence being sat up at one in the morning watching Storage Wars in your pants, scratching your arse and farting. Its the simple pleasures in life….

Ah, good old Dave! Must see if I can get that on demand
