just bought one of THESE for C456 1×10 build.

used it twice and hasn’t dropped the chain, although i think it does need adjusting.

mucho cheapness compated to the XCX ones!

Yeah, the c456 is about 26lbs but the onlytime I wished I’d had a lower gear was chatting to a mate on the fire road from the bottom of haldon forest to the top but only because my mate who I was chatting to was in proper granny ring and I kept having to stop for him to catch up.

Just gone from 3×9 to 2×10 on a new bike and had enough bits left over to build an extra one that I’ve done 1×10.

Running 32×11-36 with a superstar top guide on a c456.

Wish I’d done it sooner, it’s great!

gawton not a possibility for you?

not at all. What i am saying is that progressive use of brakes is far more effective than locking wheels.

sounds like you need to go out and practice on some wet grass with just a front brake (PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME, WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF YOUR PARENTS, WHILE RUNNING WITH SCISSORS, IN THE CORRIDOR OR WITHOUT FULL BODY ARMOUR)

firstly just grabbing a handful of front brake and falling off.

then getting on the brake more progressively (to transfer some weight to the front tyre) and braking a bit harder.

see which one you can stop with quicker. :)

I take then that ou just need to get it as close to the chainring as possible without fouling the bolts or rubbing?

well i’ve ordered the seatpost mount one, budget doesn’t allow for new cranks/BB so old SQ taper BB/cranks for the time being.

Yeah, sorry didn’t exactly make it clear!

    Bought kit, fitted, failed.
Bought new fitting kit fitted, failed.

Threw massive tantrum, launched the lot in the bin and vowed never to buy SS kit again.

3weeks later bought 8 sets of bake pads

Bought some when they first started doing them. Catastrophic failure on first use, redid Fixings and tried again. Same thing. Took it all off and launched into the bin.

May have been a problem with early ones but not components I’ll be risking using again…

Had my shoulder plated (slightly worse than yours) plus a wrist with a nerve block.

Felt properly f***ed up for about a week. Oramorphe and sleep worked out quite well.

Sounds like you’re only worrying because you’re measuring it. If you felt fine then it’s probably ok but if you’re worried speak to a doctor.

Personally, I know I’m working hard at 170 and almost ready to pass out at 182 (37yo) but everyone is different!

Don’t look at the turns as if they are Berms. clipping out and heading across the centre of the velo is NOT* funny!!

*for the person riding, everyone else will find it hilarious.
