I reckon thats been on a bike rack and hung in front of the exhaust?

I think you might have something there. There’s no soot on it, but it sure looks like a localised area got warm

If that was nicked it must have been right out of the shop… Still has wheel reflectors & seat post reflector fitted!

If you had to drive it, how many hours would you have to work to start to turn a profit on turning up?

I make my 16month old watch Mythbusters on Saturday mornings.

    I’m sure she likes it

Last time I went to A&E (which isn’t irregular) I was seen by ‘my’ lady doctor – bizarrely recognises me too

Best bit is that the injuries are usually torso related, so my wife gets the daggers out as she has her paws on me.

For you, just to be sure, many of the nurses live just the other side of Billing Road – best you go stare through the windows to see if any of them are her :)

Do it though, or something. The worst that can happen as said above is a nurse gets flowers, and your heart is crushed

Whichever is most favourable on the tax / monthly payment – I suspect the Leon

Have a look on SCN – some of the Mk3’s are just getting delivered to the owners now.

The Leon 3 door is just released as well which is a bit of a looker.

The shame of both the Leon & Golf now on the MQB platform under 150bhp is that they’re on a fixed rear beam type suspension…. Just means it’ll be a little bit harsher ride

Excellent weekends riding! I will be back for sure (May BH if the property sale hasn’t gone through!)

Popped back to Haldon on Saturday, and did two back to back laps of the Red/Black on the 29er – much easier & faster

Then a fairly short ride on Dartmoor, compared to what I expected to do today – bloody hell those rocks are hard work up hill. Quite a giggle on the way down

Nutcracker was muddy, and it started snowing on the top of Hunter Tor

Dartmoor if my wrist repairs itself overnight

Haldon was a good crack this afternoon on the SS

Really nicely made trail you guys have here

I think I’ll pop back there on the 29er which has less sketchy tyres on it, and head onto the moor on Sunday

Isn’t the G8 in Lough Erne (actually in NI)?

Would seem odd company car transport to pop over to London in

    Curious

Both Air & Space Museum’s are great fun – there’s the huge one by the airport I used to stop at on my way back to the airport (I used to work sporadically in Charlottesville)

You’ll be spoiled for choice, especially if you have a Sunday there as there’s always something on.

    I did a 4th July there a few years back – amazing.

^^ that, or a long way to go when you’ve got work in the morning & you’re in last nights togs

I did it when I met my wife when she went back to Uni… but I hadn’t got anything better to do

I’m lazy now, so wouldn’t do it again!

Thanks for the hints & tips (and route Paul)

Plotted some points out on the OS Map, so it should be a good ride out

Saturday or Sunday look equally cold / not rainy so that’s an easy choice (both days if I can for Dartmoor)

Just need to choose…. 100mm 29er Hardtail, or 120mm Skills Compensator (actually I want to take my SS, but I think I want to ride, not walk)

Good Friday for Haldon, Sat or Sun for Dartmoor I suspect

Probably would be trying my luck for three days riding!

    Excellent!

I’ll get on strava / other to find some loops then – and a proper OS map too….

From memory it’s bridleways only – not open moorland for bikes I guess

I recognise that Ibiza Paul :) Is it finished yet? It must have been 10yrs since I had your front bumper!

Anyway, for the age you’re looking at the Mk5 pre facelift – It’s an OK car if you don’t pick a ‘clever’ 1.4TSI engine

The Ecomotive does what it should, but is fairly uninspiring.

I had a Cupra for 11 months, but the suspension (the rear in particular) was harsh & eventually annoyed me

I’d look at the Fabia to be honest

Got one, make £20-£25 a month from it without trying

Otherwise it operates just like my ‘old’ Santander account

Total cooking time, before the resting shouldn’t be more than 5-7 minutes depending on how thick it is.

    Thicker the better IME

Picked my daughters by looking at the most popular list for the previous year & made sure she was nowhere near the top

Ended up picking a germanic name (Heidi Marie) which I think was 97th at the time – hopefully she’ll be the only one in her year at school (I was one of 12 Mark’s in my year)

Others in our antenatal group must have done the opposite & picked top 10

I’m here at the moment – my sister moved seven years ago.

Quality of life is great, property isn’t far off south of England costs. Food shopping is costing me a fortune!

I’d be here in a heartbeat if the pay was good enough

Have you thought about oz? There are loads of opportunities both in the forces, and private sector

My wife has a Leon with the 1.6 CR engine in it

It’s a nice easy engine, but not as economical as the blurb would have you believe – normally 46-52mpg on a run… bizarrely less economical than my vRS hatch.

Power is 105PS/185lbft – which is enough to move itself about at decent speeds with cog swapping as the power band isn’t that big.

I had to give up using the sleep apnea mats – I never was sure they knew she was on it or not

Anyway, the day is looming – my planned release for the balloon is a couple of days after, but I’ll still take time out (it’s in my outlook!)

I’m a bit of an emotional ‘tard, but this made me well up – I’m only at the 14 months on stage, but it read the same as my ‘story’!

In relation to the end of your life… Couldn’t be further from the truth. She comes with us for lunches out (and has done since a week old), she’s had two weeks in france, a week in italy, a week in cornwall & will we’re taking her to NZ this week…. I think I might have travelled more with her than before come to think of it.

It’s awesome, despite being permanently knackered & still getting used to broken sleep

5 years ago I was telling my mate how I never wanted kids as they do nothing for me and I can’t be bothered with them. 2 weeks after that my wife said she was pregnant! I didn’t want a child and felt like yourself. I was even more gutted when I found out it was going to be a girl as I couldn’t imagine having a good connection with her.
9 months later and I’m sat in hospital with my new born daughter in my arms and all of a sudden it hit me…this is why I’m here I thought, this is the reason.
The next 12 months amazed me at how intensely you can feel love for another person, its in a totally different league to anything else I’ve ever witnessed.
Skip another 12 months or so to when she was 2 1/2 and the fun was starting to get really good. She goes everywhere I go, we are a team and where ever I am she is right behind me.
Now she is 4 and we walk, climb, ride, hike, camp, fish, work (weekends), go to pubs, restaurants, bowling, racing and many other things. She is my life, my soul, my best friend, my greatest love and my reason to be here. Next year we are going to try for another.
You can still go on holiday and the rest of the things you state but you will have to do them with a child…makes it more fun in my opinion.
No body can tell you how you will feel but I would like you to put another post on here in 12 months and give us an update on how you feel. I may be wrong but I bet your feelings will have changed like mine so dramatically did.
All the best for the future and I hope all works out well for you…..by the sounds of it, it already has!

I had three months notice, and offered them six good weeks of me continuing to work 5x10hr days OR three months where I toss it off all day long like a recently departed colleague did.

They chose the six week option

Then on the last day decided to rescind that as they couldn’t get someone to hand over to. Pretty funny as I had been paid by then & told them I was off (and I was!)

I didn’t get a reference, but I didn’t need one – though we didn’t part on bad terms, the relationship is funny now as they’re a supplier to me :)
