Seems pricey… work it out from AVS Fencing and you’ll be able to see how much his day rate is

Also interested… But I’m there Friday-Monday this weekend coming

Any potential reason to take my own bike & ride locally? I’ve got a rental shed booked to use on site.

Yes, tried that one – but I tend to struggle with the massive gaping hole when all full of water

So I get these ones now http://www.decathlon.co.uk/2l-tpu-water-backpack-hydration-bladder-id_8217347.html

I don’t mind so much if I forget to fish it out after a ride and it goes green when it’s 1/3rd the price

Have also tried the really really cheap eBay ones, and they have all leaked

Torrential Rain at QECP area right now for the next couple of hours.

Hopefully it’ll have drained away & not made it the slippy chalk of death – enjoy the ride!

Royals (decent ones) tend to be in Range Rovers – with more outriders from Special Protection

X5 and only two bikes…. Middle Management Politician? Anything of interest out that way?

The quick bit of the Butser Segment is here – https://www.strava.com/segments/2388865?filter=overall which is the quickest place offroad round here (assuming safety is a consideration)

Quickest speed I can see on the faster bits is 91km/h – 56mph – which is believable as back in the day I used to see 48-50 on a rigid ‘mtb’ down there. Praise be 48T chainrings.

On road, back when I was stupid you could easily see high 50’s on Long Harting descent or Farlington Avenue Nr Portsmouth before they put the fun spoilers on it.

When I joined a company that did CTW, and found out that my mate who ran a shop took the vouchers & allowed top ups 😀

Rob is able to hold a better conversation than I could… Waited for him at the top of a hill in QECP, and rode down to the park centre chatting over the roar of my tyres

Amazingly he’s still pretty darn quick!

Looking good for QECP just after nine, so I’ll head out to ride through the park with him

What’s his ETA back for QECP?

I’m mighty impressed, went out and have done a paltry 30 something on the SDW today, and won’t be doing much more for the rest of the day – so I’m no idea how he’s keeping it together (and the lack of sleep)

    Impressive.

I saw the thread at 6am, and thought I could get my arse out of bed and open a gate a mile away near QECP by 8.

Didn’t happen, and I doubt I’ll be there at 4am when he passes by…. But I’ll do my best for 8am, or whenever he passes on the third pass

    Good luck!

Is it the FR? Or the ‘Sport’ with the 185bhp engine?

Decent cars in the day (and now), and worth a bit more… Stick it on eBay and it’ll be fine (just get a mate to shill bid if you need to)

Headdown and a fatbike would be great fun! I think we all ready have one coming

Piece of piss on a fatbike.

Just follow the cycleway right down past HMRC in Cosham, past the Lido, past Mountbatten Centre and carry on past the Naval Base entrance & you’ll be down in Old Portsmouth in no time.

I think the Park & Ride off the M275 has access to the cycleway (and monthly parking passes) too for when it’ll be a horrid commute up the hill.

Mattbee – was your wife dark hair & specs? She was bricking it at the top of stage 2 & said she normally rode stuff with her husband.

I’m glad she enjoyed it though, we tried (not that hard) to ease her mind at the start!

    Results are online http://www.sportident.co.uk/results/2015/QECPEnduro/enduro.html

Interesting to see how few people didn’t do all the stages – which is a good thing! Credit to the top runners – those stage times are impressive!

I’m off up there in a bit, so watch out for the blue Codeine!

Enjoyed counting backwards from 10 400 times last night!

Quite a few people bailed after stage 1&2 which is a shame, as 3 was a beauty.

Looked like fun trails, hopefully I can get out later today and ride the course

After the last horrendous wet suffer-fest I vowed I’d only put up with the South Downs chalk faff in the height of summer.

The locals must be made of sterner stuff than I.

We prefer riding gods if it’s all the same

Or just ride where there’s no chalk 🙂

I’ll be there setting you off at the start of stage 1&2

I only live a mile away so the comfort of my own bed wins over camping!

Yeah. Check out my forum 🙂

I’d have had the car you described but I couldn’t find one at the time so have an Altea with the engine

It’s ok if it’s had oil and not been thrashed and the cam follower changed (easy fit)

Then remap it. In fact you’ve got my trawling autotrader now

This reminds me, I still have a cracked Soda in the shed.
I should really get round to getting it fixed, lovely frame.
Mine cracked near the brake mount….

Interested to see how much this goes for.doom_mountain – Member

Straight to eBay then! £188 is ‘a lot’ even considering £100 to repair

I’m not grumpy at all, I hoped it’d go a lot cheaper for a bargain!

I think Giant Shitcafe is a great name for a bike!

Is that the MY2016 lightweight race bike?

Paying mileage isn’t a perk… Very odd behaviour. I’d just get her to ask her boss how to get there / how to claim mileage.

What kind of distances are we talking (though it’s a moot point, as it should be paid)

Popped up tonight, sticky as anything up there following the rain. Lovely.

dobo – that’s why 95% of my rides up there have me wearing knee pads & that’s what I aim to land on!

Also been up there this evening, just as it started raining hard.

Still fine, the amount of rain isn’t enough to have soaked in to turn it into the winter slop.

The surfaced bits are ace, better than when dusty IMO

I only bailed on the chalky final descent, where experience tells me the first rain in weeks will leave it insanely slippy on those final berms. Probably be OK after the first dozen riders have been down & laid down some mud

Blue trail is running very well though (PR’s all over it)
