Weekly testing regime, masks worn when moving around a very distanced office

But I’ve not returned back this year, no need to

I used them for riding on the local lakes when I was in Canada – fantastic, mega grip when you couldn’t even put a foot down.

I’ve still got them on the bike now… so I might go try them in the South Downs frost

If you have the cash, could you settle your loan to make it clean for the settlement?

Get on a site like carwow, and see what you can find there to compare about.

Yes, they might make £0 profit on the car, but it’ll count to their 1/4 bonus, and finance rebates

Don’t let them upsell GAP insurance or expensive car sealant / washing

I rent a storage container to that spec, and asked the guy how much he pays. £1500 + lockbox + delivery

So I’d say your £1700 delivered (if it includes VAT) is alright

If it’s ex-VAT, you can do better on eBay

As a buyer I have not enjoyed the experience with Purplebricks, especially where the seller shows me round

We ended up avoiding any of these, in preference for agent only showings

So I started a new job, with a new firm on Monday good timing after relocation from Canada for it…

Stayed home Monday, car delivered. Stayed home Tuesday. Wednesday meet at the office to pick up laptop & IT & log it onto the network. WFH from thereon.

Keyworker status, letter issued if I have to go to a site.

I’m very very pleased to be working for them again.

Could be worse… I left my employer today to head back to the UK

Yesterday we laid off 1100 workers with zero notice. No severance or package.

I’m glad I got out (for other reasons)

My F150 has a 138L tank. Not so bad in Canada, but it’s going to smart when I bring it to the UK next month.

On the plus side I can get 1300km out of a tank, so at least it’s infrequent

Have you booked it as two separate flights? Or are they code shares?

I moved to Nova Scotia (employer-sponsored) 15 months ago.

100% the best thing we’ve ever done. No regrets, close to the UK for visitors to get here cheaply on a direct flight, and a home big enough that you can accommodate three families.

Winters haven’t been too bad, but I’m bloody glad it’s started to thaw out this weekend

Does the Canadian company have a USD account? (I’m assuming you have USD) If so, just pay them USD to USD against their invoice (though you’ll be at their whim for the x/rate assuming their base cost is CAD)

I’m surprised they want to take a card for nearly $10,000 – they’ll lose over $400 in fees…. If you have a card, that’s probably the easiest, and will avoid bank fees

Christmas lights are going up round here this weekend.

Mostly because it’ll be sub zero soon, and minus 15 by Christmas so it’s all about not slipping off your roof apparently

    viva Canada :)

I’m in Canada & all my colleagues are going through this at the moment.

    It’s a doddle.

Just embellish as much as you can on the oral element of the exam. Long sentences & lots of words.

With a little bit of portage you can go coast to coast, and it’s beautiful, quiet and accessible.

When my (steel) cooker cracked, which I’d bought from Evans they wanted me to return the bike to them to strip & send the frame back.

I decided to strip it myself, than leave it in a shop in pieces.

I think I had my new frame in four weeks, and rebuilt it myself.

“IF he says no, i have no plans” – that’s the babysitter sorted for your son.

I’d just lie to the airline about when the cast was fitted – I can’t see it being an issue, given easyjet fly loads of broken MTB riders back from the alps each summer

I’m kind of lucky that there’s loads of photo’s from 5th April 1982

But I was (aged 2.5) up on the right on the hot walls – there’s a picture of me, with HMS Hermes in the background somewhere at just about the same time as this

Another vote for the official one.

Cheaper than the ‘not’ official ones, and no chance of seeing your car in the daily mail when they discover the cars dumped in fields

I’m three months into Nova Scotia, working for a huge programme.

I’m loving it…. But then I really enjoy working hard. The work culture is (for me) a work hard, deliver & be rewarded. Same as in the UK for me personally.

The big difference is the ‘indifference’ of the locals. They don’t typically apply for jobs where I am, because it’s “hard” and you’re expected to go to work every weekday…… No joke.

A reduction in annual leave was traded by knowing that I’ll be home almost every night (whereas in the UK I was away 2-3 nights a week). The weekends are my own, and our family time has improved & is better all round.

Nova Scotia is ace. I won’t be going back to the UK for the foreseeable

End of the quarter / half year / full year

Why not buy on finance, then settle within 14 days? You’ll get maximum leverage as they’ll (think they) still get their kickback from the finance co.

I used to have one of those frames…. I managed to get a smaller 29er tyre in there, and slapped some 29″ forks up front and it was still a bit of fun.

I ran a 2.3″ in 26″ form in there, but there was plenty of room with the wheel pulled forward with a 29er with a Rapid Rob

    For some reason I have a photo…

Both the proudest and saddest thing I’ve done.

I donated just over 12 years ago, and luckily they changed the rules on reaching out to the donor

I wish I had the guts to reply back to the family, but it’ll have been a long time ago so why open old wounds.

    Bollocks.

I’ve had an HSBC Account since September, all linked up on Globalview and have been shifting some decent cash about.

As I’ve read this thread, I’ve had an email from my mortgage broker confirming my mortgage application from a lender.

And I don’t have a PR, or Work Permit (yet) – just a job offer (not a job letter) or any pay slips. LMIA is received, in my name, but the banks don’t know it exists.

Car shopping next week, I’ll let you know how it goes with my UK credit report. The Mortgage Lenders were happy with that, and proof of UK funds, so we’ll test the dealers metal

I’ll tell you next week… I leave the uk on Friday

Ditto on the mortgage comment, I move into my new house on Saturday and will be buying two cars on Sunday / Monday

On my last recce trip the VW dealer basically said 75% max of my pay could go on a car loan as a new comer. 25% deposit and sub $100k!!

All I need is my uk credit report, and two wage slips for finance. Mental.
