Wow. Thats scary. I was talking to someone the other day about training to work on high voltage instalations ( not me doing it but the other guy). I was told about an accident where a worker managed to short out 275kv, and it caused such a big explosion that it blew the transformer house etc apart.

It will be fun on difficult, fast downhills. And thats it.

ok, firstly, part p only came in 2 years ago. The new wiring colours have been around for longer than that. Secondly, youy shouldnt be doing the things you have mentioned, without having it checked by a competent qualified electrician. But if its done correctly, whos going to know? I would definitely make sure you have 30ma rcd protection on anything outside, or in a bathroom though…

Specsavers do some osiris ones, with a full perscription lense, eg not inserts. I brought some and they seem really good. They seem to be strong, light, comfortable, and protect well against spray bugs, wind etc. Plus they look good. At night, they are perfectly clear, but on very bright days, i have to admit, i wouldnt mind if they were a bit darker. Overall though, im very happy with them…

yeah, just been listening to it again… That ARno Cost song is great. I’ll have to get that on beatport or something. To be honest, i do listen to most stuff, i’m quite a fan of pryda really. I guess the thing is, i dont know much of this kind of stuff. SO much of it seems to be rubbish. BUt yeah, I Like all the tracks you put up there. I think I’ll have to search for some more…

Thankyou for the replies… I have bent one back into shape, but i didnt really fancy it going again when i’m in europe, so i think it’s best to buy a new one, and keep that as spare…

And coatsey, thanks for the help, i’ll call tomorow.

well, i didnt have acupuncture, but when i was suffereing from mild tennis elbow, my osteopath told me that when it was playing up, that if i strapped up my fore arm, just below the elbow, it would help… I cant really describe it, but it was odd, and he also did other wierd things with ‘pressure points’, that had amazing effects.

SO it’s worth a try in my opinion…

Jump off the bike and bite the dog first, may not work but it’ll be something to chat about to the guy in the next bed in A&E.

I wouldnt reccomend Mojo myself… Ive sent a shock, had i t come back with the shaft scratched, i know someone who sent another shock and when it was returned it felt terrible. He sent it to a certain someone else, who then proceeded to service it again, and apparantly there were a number of parts missing. I’ve heard similar stories.

I would very highly reccomend stendec though, as when i had some forks tuned by them, they were amazing…

or look at ‘self amalgamating tape’. I’m going to try that myself when my new wheels come. It is often used to repair broken pipes temporarily, and make electrical joints waterproof etc. Good stuff.

A couple of layers of that should do it, plus its cheap and useful for other stuff.

well, we go for 2 weeks were having 2 bikes each! cant wait! one for up and down ( a chameleon and a fuel ex) and one for going just dow ( a sx trail and a marin quad thingy). Plus as the van is so big, we’ll take whatever is going to be useful… I think i may even take my scott scale as well, just to try one of the big road climbs on. I’d pack my physio if i could as well, seeing as it his apartment, and i’ll most likely need him at some point.

ive seen comments about them being a little bit sketchy when theyre lent over hard… As in they slide then grab, rather than consistent grip.

well, i fully trust the strenght of carbon – it is stronger in impact tests that aluminium or steel. What i dont like is the idea of falling of onto rocks etc… I’m sure some of the slight scratches on my trex fuel, if they were on the carbon models would have resulted in the carbon weave being damaged… So for a bike that i would be riding anywhere rocky or hard, i would just be scared of damging it to much in a crash. I do have a carbon scott scale though. And i love it.

I’ll wait a while till i get a ‘bigger’ bike made of carbon…

If i had a national dh track on my doorstep i’d be very happy! The 3 bikes id most likely have in my shortlist would be the commencal, a turner dhr, and the trek session 88. But there is just a shed load of choice out there… The new elsworth looks amazing as well. It does depend on your riding style a bit as well

hmm, i still wanbt to be out cycling, but in the end i got off my arse and went and cleaned on of my bikes properly, for the first time in ages… So that was quite satisfying… I just wish i’d got the bits to build up my new bike…

Simon, that sounds horrible, knowing you may not get to ride there again. I’m just going mad as i have nothing else to do… I guess it shows how much i rely on my cycling to keep me busy/ happy/ poor. Oh well, i may trya road ride tomorow what with it being the weekend, if i can sort out helmet in time.

I really need to wath stardust… It was filmed in Ashridge just down the road from me… There’s a big wall in it or something… Anyway, one night on a night ride, we went down a path into the balley it was filmed in, i was 2nd, next thing i know We were faced with this massive wall at the bottom of the path, which i then proceeded to right straight into…

It was very confusing at the time…

oh, tey not to read reviews of never let me go, as a lot of them in my mind would spoil the story…

Captain Flasheart – you sound like an idiot talking like that. SOme people just quite simply dont enjoy reading, maybe they spemnd their time drawing or making music… I have alot of friends who dont read at all, but it doesnt make them any less intelligent than you…

Anyway for me my favourite booke ever, and the only one that has brouught me even close to tears is ‘Never let me go’ by Kazuo Ishiguro. Its an amazing book, and very very sad, but still funny and happy. Just read it.

Other than that ‘I am Legend’ by Richard Matheson was to me a very sad, moving book, but in a totally different way. And its nothing like the film which shoudl be called ‘ I am Will Smith’.

alwyn, i know there is some preety good stuff here. Ive lived here for 22 years… but it doesnt compare to the lakes, peaks, scotland, wales, north devon etc etc for consistently challenging, riding. I’m just a bit fed up of chalky singletrack and muddy bridleways… the most challenging thing near me is aston hill…

hmmm, well, ive had people threaten harm me, my bike, my friends etc, all for riding on ‘cheeky trails. Hasnt put me off though, as my local rides still consist of about 80 percent ‘illegal’ riding. If only i lived somewhere where the bridleways were actually any good…
