Obviously a bar mount for laser cannon in stealth black.

Thought England kicked too early in the 2nd half. In the previous games they attacked first to draw at least one backfield defender up to the line but not today. I also thought it odd that Wales’s game plan seemed to be designed for Biggar from the beginning but they didn’t start with him. Both teams are defending well, but will have to do more joined up thinking to win a world cup.

Only one score at half time so Scotland should win, but the French may have a 10 who is not completely insane. Will the coach get Ntamack on the laughing gas over the break ?

@Tom B yup, perhaps it’s a new fashion. Wear the opposition down with all that running they will have to do. They were not even aiming to make contact at the gain line . . . baffling.

Quite a while since I have seen an international defence as passive as the Italians in this game.

A few brain dead decisions by Wales’s players in that half.

I’ve tried quite a few brands because it gets a bit chilly here at times. By a long way the best I have used both for keeping my hands warm and keeping some feel for the bars are the ALDI ones. I wasn’t expecting them to be any good at all but they work well down to at least -8C with a decent breeze for some extra wind-chill.

Hernia op. was about 5 or 6 years ago. Many a crash since then without disturbing it.

I had to take a break from riding to get a hernia at my stoma site sorted. Twas a pain losing fitness and having to be careful not to pile the weight on but I consoled myself by planning a few upgrades. I even managed to be sensible about the amount and type of riding I did when I re-started which was very unlike me. Continuing with the hernia wasn’t a good option in my case. Overall, it didn’t really take too long and was manageable.

Hi and welcome to the forum youngster. If you want to practice searching the site may I recommend some of the classics for your education. I should start with searches for: sudocrem cat, agent picolax and Louise.

Just had a proper look at the Lawes offside and checked the laws. The laws say that the offside line is the back foot. CL’s right foot is in the air ahead of the body of the england player on the ground, his back foot is difficult to judge. However, all of CL is well behind the foot of his team-mate. It was offside because the ref. said so, not by the letter of the law. Nice to see Barrett being turned inside out by a forward also good to see Retallick put on a master class.

I noticed that the ref. also has his own interpretation of offside from a kick earlier in the game which was much more straightforward. Looking forward to the AB Ireland game now, I hope Murray is fit.

Brad Shields . . . anybody want a swap ? He must have some positives that I just can’t see (apart from the beard obviously).

Nice quick response from Maxxis UK, which supports the German site. Presumably the best choice of compound depends upon where and when you ride :

Thank you for your enquiry and interest in Maxxis.

All our compounds are the same regardless of the nation, so this information is correct. If you would like to find out more information about our technology and tyre compounds, please visit: https://www.maxxis.co.uk/technology/bike-technology.

Chakaping, Bushwacked – the ground temperature limit could be ass covering or it could be to comply with German laws. I ran a Shorty one (mild by Moray standards) Winter, it was tremendous and did not degrade as far as I could tell. However, last year a MaxTerra DHF was badly degraded (visually) in very few rides and certainly performed less well than a dual compound DHR2 on the rear and the DHF on my hardtail. I have sent a message to Maxxis UK asking for advice but will probably just get a fudge answer. If it is an issue, I would certainly expect it to apply to all brands just as it does with car tyres. The likelihood is that the 6 degC is pessimistic and that the more likely temperature limit is a bit lower.

DHF/DHR2 EXO are my default though I have tried Contis (a PITA to go tubeless and dodgy on corners) and Schwalbe (Nobby Nics – what was I thinking ?). I did try an Aggressor earlier this year, but the sidewall split after a puncture. As this is a tyre thread I’ll leave this extract from the maxxistires.de site here:

“
IMPORTANTAt low soil temperatures (below 6 ° C) we advise against the use of the mixtures 3C MaxxTerra & 3C MaxxGrip. The soft components in the center and outer cleats tend to harden in the cold. This can result in performance losses in the curve stop, as well as – depending on the duration of application – optical defects such as cracking of the mixing “transition” on the flanks. In the cold, our DualCompound compounds, which are insensitive to temperature and always offer the same performance, whether at -15 ° C or + 20 ° C, perform considerably better.
<div class=”hwr-details hwr-details1″>

I don’t know why this is not on the UK site and I presume that there will be similar issues with softer compounds from other makes as well. The 6 degC limit is the same point at which normal car tyres become significantly inferior to all weather or Winter tyres.

Well done for finishing your ride. May I suggest that you google how to set your seat height, it makes an enormous difference to both power and comfort in my experience and it sounds as though yours may have been rather low.

Shape and construction look a bit like the Raceface Aeffect although that saddle is longer and narrower.

The Maxxis german site is back up, the bit about soft compound tyres in cold weather is still there. https://maxxistires.de/technologie/gummimischungen/

If in doubt DHF 3C on the front, a bit muddier go for a Magic Mary and be ready to sweep up the rubber that falls off, even muddier a Shorty. If it is cold avoid the softer compounds (3C etc.) and go for a Maxxis dual compound or equivalent (softer compounds perform poorly below about 6degC – there used to be a warning on the Maxxis german site).

I use a 26″ 2.4 Ardent on the back of my hardtail when it’s not too wet.Paired with a DHF on the front It’s reasonably quick and acts a fuse because it always lets go before the Minion. Putting it on the front would probably bring on the familiar scent of A and E.
