I have a Whyte 905 and just an inch shorter than you. I love it, it’s the most fun bike (irrespective of being a hardtail) I’ve had – just a joy to ride.

I’ve got these tyres on a Whyte hardtail, and love them. I’ve had a look around the interwebz and can’t find any in 2.6 flavour.  Any one know anything that Google doesn’t?.

I live in central London, I have 2 mountain bikes and ride mainly from the door.  Steps are my friend, as are other various items of street furniture such as low walls, higher kerbs etc. There is (surprisingly) a good amount of riding including single track, trees, woods not forgetting the odd BMX track.

Not quite the same, but fitted a dropper to mine with same clamp / bike.  It’s got the most annoying creak that won’t go despite grease, no grease, copper slip, tigther, less tight etc etc.  Now learning to live with the noise, but might try a new clamp next.

Alpe dHuez and Les2alpes better for riding by far.  Chair from La Grave to Alpe dHuez is crazy steep down and up.  If you don’t want to be in the hustle and bustle of resorts, Venosc is great and chair up  / trail back is great as is Vaujany / Alpe dHuez – basically you get charm of old school, quiet location with a chair up to main resorts with plenty on offer.

I’ve got my work ID on a retractble elasticated  thingy, so I can pull out as much length as I need, depending on how close what I want to touch is….

I’ve just done one, and didn’t take the bb out.  Underneath the bb is the exit for brake and gear cable, with a cover,   I unscrewed this, and then fed half the outer past the bb shell up the seat tube and pushed the other half up the downtube.  Then just navigated the outer out the hole with help from a small screwdriver.  Simples, particularly as I’d had an hour of faff trying to do it other ways.  Oh yeah, on a 901

OP, Lee valley bike park on your doorstep, canals and river Lee both rideable either up to Epping or down to Woolwich Tunnel and across to Abbey Wood.

Small pump / BMX track in Mile End park, bigger one in Hackney.

Train from Stratford will take you to Benfleet, and then to Hadleigh

Hog Hill / Hainault park has some riding although not been.

I’m out a few times each week, on a MTB and live down by Canary Wharf.  Email in profile if you want to get in touch?  Whatever you do, it all needs a bit of peddling !!

I’ve hit the “buy it now” button on a Whyte 901, and should be ready to pick up in the net few days.  We’ll see, its got some chunky wide Maxxis Forekaster tyres in 2.6″ which might defeat the objective in the 1st place and may need to swop out for something lighter / faster rolling.

A bit more context might be helpful, so hard to say anything practical at this stage.  Do you need to work at all?  What’s your background, career aspirations, qualifications, experience etc?  On the face of it, 3 months doesn’t seem that long to have been looking.. …

I spend a reasonable amount of time riding Lee Valley and Hadleigh and would recommend both. LV done at speed can be fun, and some opportunities to really test grip and nerve. A lot had been done to get the most from what’s there and easy to do loops or session parts (to get quicker and quicker

Daily cap applies to TFL not railways – basically you’d get it on the tube but not on rail. I can’t answer the question on children’s railway journey costs. Finally yes rail is likely to be quicker than the tube. Good luck

Been a few times, last time we did a night time (8.00pm)segway tour of the sights, which was the best fun on two wheels I’ve had in mixed company. Helped us suss out where to go and what to re-visit as you can cover a lot of sights quickly, plus the guide was very knowledgeable. They do day tours also, it was just quieter later on.
