My Nerve XC is a large and reckon it comes out around a 59/60cm top tube, longer than my Epic in a large – thinking about putting a short stem on it (I’m 5’11”) and it’s got a 11 cm stem at the moment.

You won’t be disappointed at the ride or handling – they are awesome (XC).

If it’s for sizing, then not much difference between a med and lge, that a layback post and longer stem won’t sort.

Pink is the only one in stock = not on my bike so question about performance no relevant.

Oh, and no experience of BB either…

Just a rim strip I reckon – Stans or something similar. If you are planning a bit more DH / Enduro type stuff (as opposed to XC / ST) then going fully tubeless is likely to be much better with less chance of tyre burping and trye rolling off

1:50k is all I use – I have a 1:25k one for my local area, and yes it is more detailed but this doesn’t really help for riding

For £300 more you could get this Bikey Bling Link– just check out the spec by comparison

The Enduro’s looked in pretty good nic when I was there last year….either that or the Remedy just to try out a bigger bouncer in that sort of riding

Friend of mine, when confronted by a very frisky bullock in the UK, just got off his bike and smacked it accross the jaw, got back on and rode off.

I was laughing so much, a little bit of wee came out 8O

Half way down the uhhh….seat tube (I’ll call it that, but not sure) there appears to be a lock of some kind?

Is it a lock or part of the mecchano bike frame

There is some hard standing for campers on the right hand side of town (as you look up the mountain) but as it wasn’t an official Aire, I’m guessing you’d get moved on each day. Must check out Camping La Cascade……as he reaches for the mouse…. :P

There is a wicked campsite at Venosc, which is on the other side of the mountain. There is a cable car that takes bikes (no extra cost) right up to Les Deux Alpes and the red, wicked, long, flowy, bermy, steep route takes you from Les Deux Alpes straight back to the bottom of the same cable and about 1 min to campsite.

Weblink for site is Venosc Campsite

Stayed there last year, rode as many of the trails I could find and didn’t drive once. There’s even an XC route to Bourg D’Oisson along the river if you fancied it

do you mean jumping down steps, generally abusing around the streets?

Yes, that’s exactly what I had in mind

Minions say min 35psi? I don’t doubt you – but this seems a bit bonkers?

I rarely run any of my tyres (for any sort of riding) at 35psi – and I reckon I’m Mr Average in terms of weight, height and skills

Anything to get through the winter gloop and improve my riding & keep fitness levels up etc

I’m trying to find a use for an old 456 frame, that might also serve for a bit of winter riding fun, hence the street / urban title.

DTF – are you saying the geometry of the frame wouldn’t allow for what I’m after – I was thinking it might, given how slack eveything is?

Try letting some air out – pressures around 25-30psi suit me (tubeless) in the very loose, sandy and dry New Forest – and I’m running an S-Works Captain 2.0 on the front and a SB8 on the rear on my XC bike and then on my bigger bouncer running the same combo but at 2.4 and 2.2 widths – similar pressures.

To OW, put enough spacers between the top of the stem and top cap, 5mm or so should do it…

Dan it was bought to replace the Epic, which was a 2008 model. TBH I found the whole back end flexy on the Epic and the “brain” shock very hit and miss. The Canyon has a 4 bar set up, and is much plusher – I can feel, see and hear it working, whereas on the Epic you had to hit something pretty hard for the “Brain” to engage. I’ve built the Canyon to be about the same weight as the Epic at around 24lbs. Downsides so far of the Canyon – I have to reach down and flick the pro-pedal on and it’s only got 1 bottle cage mount due to shock position – both of which I can more than live with, given how well it goes up hill. With the pro-pedal on, it’s like riding a HT :P

Would thoroughly recommend it – am even going to race it when the Gorricks start again, as I’m hoping it will be more durable and comfortable than the Epic

Bought a Nerve XC frameset with an RP23 on it, put some Fox 32 RLC’s on it, ZTR Crest wheels, lightweight tyres and it flies. Very stiff on the climbing, particularly with the pro pedal on and coming down an extra 2cms of bounce in the rear (compared to my Epic which it replaces) is noticeable – I absolutely love it.

I snapped the ACL on my left leg skiing and then a year later snapped on my right leg in a (road) bike accident.

On both occassions I have chosen not to have surgery (with the advice of the consultant) and instead used physio / weights and specific bike exercises to overcome th injury. That was about 3 years ago, and have no problems since. I can always have surgery in the future if I need to…..fingers crossed that won’t be necessary 8O

I can’t buy the stock picking issue as being normal or acceptable – everything is barcoded, they know what stock they have, what’s sold (real time) so if it shows in stock then in theory it should be.

Works for the likes of Amazon / Wiggle and many many others.

As per original post – must try harder as realistically how hard can it be (to offer a good service)?

I bought a Nerve XC frameset, perfect, perfect, perfect service – great comms, did what they said they would do, arrived when they said.

A great example of good service.

Some interesting responses, so just to clarify to ridethelakes, stilltortoise and bigyinn – having looked through my a/c history I’ve spent in excess of £2300 in last 12 months with CRC (which I consider to be quite a lot) and my expectation is for a better service. The problem is we don’t expect a high level of service and therefore get taken for mugs.

If I came round yours and charged you £2300 for some work wouldn’t you expect a high degree of service for this?

Took mine off yonks ago, tried to use a bit of Innter Tube to replace and it failed – removed all together and had no issues
