Try the tourist info offices as they have loads of way marked trails on maps and online. Scout around and you’ll also find good natural singletrack / paths. It’s very (very) steep and not all paths are rideable due to rocks / steepness. I took a 140mm full suss , stayed just outside Gerardmer and found stacks for just over 2 weeks, riding most days.

Are either Rivington and Delamere any good i.e. worth a 30 mile drive / 60 mile round trip for an evening ride?

Go away, eat my dinner, come back an hour later and 3 pages of posts on travellers – so let me be the 1st to say a well known phrase, but you’ll need to rearrange the words “lock, before, the, in”

Generally, smaller / faster tread on rear, grippier tread on front. Currently running a SB8 rear, and a Captain S Works front on my XC bike, and have previously run an old MK rear, and RQ up front on bouncy bike for trail centre type stuff.

So…..different front and rear all the way…

Without forgetting tyres wear more on the rear, so I can never keep a “pair” they are always being mixed and matched.

If it’s OK to ride then it’s OK to race on it – as long as you cover any wound with protection and padding, I’d give it a go. Depends on the injury I guess, and also if riding aggravates it. When I’ve sought advice from various practioners, it always seems to be down to what I think, how I feel, and if there is stress on the injury.

Somewhere near the coast I would suggest, if all in tow. There’s not a great deal in the middle, other than countryside so depending on ages, interests of family could be a challenge to keep them occupied.

+1, grim, rode it in the wet and never been so miserable

As for the cyclists spooking / hurting horses debate that’s a kind of non-point as well – the horses tend to (largely) stay off the roads and if they are around

That’s where I tend to ride, and horses tend to just run off. Unless it’s night time and you have lights, you stop for a mechanical, look down for 5 min, look up and there’s a whole herd around you – freaked me right out!

There is a CCTV sign in the enclosure opposite the Ashurst campsite, as well as various other do not trespass and private signs.

I’ve been photographed and video’d riding in / around the Ashurst Campsite, and stopped by the NF Agister up at Deerleap.

I’m still riding, what in realty is going to happen? As FM stated above, I’m oblivious to most hings and just ride on through……….

Citroen C5 Estate, 2.0 VTR diesel, got 44mpg avg – mainly motorway driving and few bits around town. Didn’t hang around, was huuuuuge in back seats and boot, and the 1.6 diesel gets better economy I think?
