    I would expect a bias towards cyclists”…………………

    .
The whole article / reporting is biased as is the approach by the police IMHO. Up to cyclists the make themselves visible to motorists, total tosh

I’m 5′ 11″ and had a large Nerve XC (20 inches) – and have a long body/arms, so for me was a good fit. Came with a 10 cm stem on it, and found it perfect. Bought that size as previous bikes I had bought were a “large” size ie one down from the largest. Not sure what the TT was, but found the fit was great.

I love people riding my trails just not making them public

What do you think posting them on the Internet via Strava does then?

Non biking activity is vast and varied, depending on budget and what you want to do. Many of the big resorts offer walking, limited skiing, via Ferrata, paragliding, go ape type stuff, indoor / outdoor swimming pools, quad biking, canyoning, climbing, scrambling. There are a few nicer hotels around, although Alpe d’huez is a bit high rise apartment blocks so might be worth staying lower down if family after other stuff. Couple of decent ish campsites in the valley and a bit more going on. All activities would be impossible to do without a car as they are spread about a bit.

I rode my bike in full Altura Gear, slowly and when I reached a set of lights pushed my way to the front and then rode off slowly when they changed. I don’t do it so much now, but wonder how many I may have influenced with this sort of behaviour….

OP, welcome to the New Forest…..no really, I mean you are welcome to it, take it, it’s yours, no problem….

In all seriousness, if you haven’t got a lightweight xc bike, hard tail, rigid or CX bike, you will do after you have lived here for a bit – you can get some serious mileage in, improve your cardio fitness, but you won’t shredding the gnarr anytime soon. If you want a bit more gravity, head to Dorset (puddle town woods, uk bike park or the purbecks)….

South Downs to Eastbourne or drop off at any coastal town between Winchester and Eastbourne? Depends if you like wrinklies and a blue rinse?

Of all the trails to film on, that’s the easiest – it’s good riding, but way gnarlier stuff, that’s more picturesque to be had at that resort. Some of the shots, features, woodwork and natural stuff on the Venosc trail would have made for a better edit IMO

Don’t go for hair removal, of any description. It opens the pores too much, given the area you are considering, this leads to some potentially grim infections / saddle sores / boils and the like.

Cut the foliage, don’t remove it all together.

I’m 5′ 11″ and have a large Scott Voltage that when I ride it, takes me 2 or 3,runs to get used to how short it is. Usually ride quite a stretched out position on other more normal bikes. Its taken me a while to get used to moving around the bike so much, and in particular when it gets steep and narrow, so I’ve come to appreciate how short it actually is. It’s a night nard to pedal, knees are practically hitting the bars.

Awesome mudguards, a fit and forget purchase for me. Have also put a down tube guard on as well, and pretty much end up mud free and dry on rides. Given I live in the wet, flooded, muddy south, that’s a bonus.

CDF on my short, short list for new bike – has anyone put a 29’er wheel set on theirs yet? Does the hub fit across the rear, and what’s the clearance like for say a 40mm 29’er tyre (ie 1.6 RR’s or similar)?

All land is owned by someone, and whilst I may build there, there is a good chance it might be pulled drown / trashed / dug up etc. build, just don’t get too attached to the trail….
