Plenty to do in the Purbecks, without staying in Swanage itself. Some decent biking as well, to suit wide variety of tastes. Venturing into Swanage for day trips, is quite bearable especially if you avoid the normal peak travelling times. Within a stones throw some very decent, and at times deserted beaches – you’ll need to take a picnic / drinks, the views and water are well worth it.

Ours is called “Robbie” – we have a mixture of carpet, tiles and hardwood floors. It copes well needs emptying about weekly and only gets stuck occasionally. Connected to phone, so tells you if anything wrong or needs fixing. It’s a Roomba i9000 something…

Last time I was in Coventry for a meal, it was late, about 20 years ago, I was pissed and they made me and a mate pay up front for food. It was an Indian……don’t remember much else.

I’ve put stem mount on scott mtb with some gopro arms to extend frontwards and get the right angle. The gopro mounts rest on the stem and have a rubber wodge underneath and I’ve not fully tightened the gopro arms. This gives it some flex over very rough terrain snd in event of crash would give so e movement.

    .

Fingers crossed I don’t crash and if I did then I’ve got a little bit of flexibility in the mount 3

I’ve posted on the thread you linked to. Best bet would be to see what the LBS are selling / renting – that will give you a good idea of riding. AFAIK the bike park is all DH stuff, I’m sure with some more exploring there will be general trail riding but you may need to seek it out. Not sure of path permissions or ROW info for Andorra. A good paper map might throw up some options. Good luck, I thought Andorra was awesome along with the people.

Was given a Theragun for birthday. On the plus side, it’s ace, easy to use, holds charge for long period and really helps with recovery in particular. On the downside it’s still me doing the work, and I’ve come to realise the thing I like about massages is being massaged….oh, and no happy ending.

Still some MTB riding to be had, so don’t discount it. I did same thing as you and live centrally, ride MTB and gravel, Zwift on my balcony, and use the train. Ideas as follows:-

    1. Old Eastway circuit at Stratford has a competition standard XC MTB course. Keep heading north and you will get to Epping.

    2. BMX tracks can be ridding on MTB’s

    3. Get an OS map (1:25000) and start linking parks and other urban spaces up. I can ride from central London to M25 eastbound without riding on a road.

    4. Train from Fenchurch St gets you to Benfleet where the 2012 Olympic MTB course is

    5. Swinley from Waterloo early is good, never had issue with muddy bike on way back.

    6. Train from Victoria to Warlingham gets you on decent single-track.

    7. Google / look up on a map the Green Chain Walk, most is legally rideable and will give some options

    8. Oxleas Wood / Eltham Common has some decent single-track

    9. Cyclopark at Gravesend (train from Stratford / St Pancras is 20 min, and there is some good bridleway stuff nearby

Don’t get me wrong, it’s no MTB Mecca but with some thought, a change of tyres (as XC lightweight as you can), and determination there has been enough to keep me going over the last 6 or 7 years.

    Good luck!!

Am in Southend (East), got train from Limehouse (home) and it’s been ok. Yes, lots of people around but only waited 20min for outdoor table at beach cafe, plenty of places for drinks n’ shizz, got a spot away from the crowds at the beach. Yeah the view is shite, yeah it proper Essex, but I’m in the sun and away from crowds….what’s not to like.

Lavazza is made with chemical method as per post above from dyna-ti, shame as I quite like the strength and flavour of caffeinated Lavazza.

Have been buying Spiller & Tait decaff (swiss water method) and it makes a really decent cup of coffee – albeit from a bean to cup as opposed to pre-ground. Maybe a coffee grinder to go with the Aeropress is the way to go…..

Thanks for the replies. I’m more of an XC jey-boy, so climbing is fine. Is there much around (XC) in the wider Forest of Bowland area, I’m there for a bit?

I hold a level A and level B psychometric licence, issued by the Britisb Psychological Society. I have looked at the ZRG website, and it seems that what they offer is a talent assessment solution, that is delivered by a person rather than a tool. I suspect it’s based on 3 facets; structured interviews, psychometric assessment and observed tasks. In terms of prep I’d ask eggs values or behaviours they are seeking to assess (maybe in JD or job advert?) and prep accordingly.

+one more for airbeam awning for Campwr and I can only echo everything that’s need said. We tend to use it as a freestanding, drive-away tent rather than awning attached to van and it’s perfect.

On a campsite in France last year big MH arrived and he wound out his awning. Sitting down around dusk and wind was getting up, didn’t think much of it. That was until I heard a mighty crash, wind had caught the awning and ripped a big hole in side of van with awning still attached – literally like a can of sardines bring rolled back. Must have caused it’s worth of damage. Made mental note to get tie down out for ours, and deploy…..

Just looked myself, as its also swallowed up the Mountpass.com stuff as well which I got on with well. What I generally tend to do is download the GPX and convert into Komoot as of all the Apps that (for me) seems the most reliable. Outdoor active website is quite poor in comparison to the Mountpass one, the search facility is not as good.

He wrote a 2nd book called Leila, about a boat journey – Christ, it was hard going. Other moving, deep reads (if that’s what you want)…

Paul Coelho books good (early ones, later ones I found a bit space cadet).

Surfing the Himalayas (Lenz) if you are into Bhudism

Mans Search for Meaning (Frankl) – again, deep and a bit harrowing but interesting

OP has described perfectly my nightly routine. Exercising after work is always a challenge also for hydration, balancing the need to drink vs the amount of times I’m up in the night. Same with being hungry…….

Good for navigation when using imported GPX files, especially abroad. In UK OS map app, with own planning much better IMHO. Komoot gets kranky on my oneplus 7 (Android) after a couple of hours of riding.

Agree with post above, you need to force it to use your route rather than it trying to re-route you. It also tries to turn you around if you run an imported route backwards.

Were you offered any of the following?

“schmoke and pancake” or “shigar and waflle” or “flapjack and a cigarette” or “pipe and crepe”?

If not, doubt from Netherlands, and suggest walking away…..
