Tracknicko where are you getting these £15 flights from? We go to Gran Canaria at least twice a year (wife is from there so we visit the in laws) and the cheapest I have had a flight is about £80 one way (from the Midlands inc tax)

WRT lopping balls off I reckon there is a time limit within which it makes a difference, but after which it makes no difference as the behavior is learnt.

People seem to leave it as a last resort and then wonder why it makes no difference. As said above, if your never going to let them have a sh@g why leave their balls there making them want a sh@g?

Just sold my 90 – not really baby friendly. It was great for the bike though. I found it best to take both wheels off and put them in across the back, I got 6 full bikes in once. Best thing was not worrying about the mud – just hose it out. The dog was scared of the noise in the back but he's not the bravest of dogs.

You wear a helmet for running? :D

I've been running 3-4 times a week offroad and use a hand held torch from DX. once you get used to it it's fine. The tracks round me are pretty smooth though.

Use a bucket as a toilet, chuck it out of the window, make sure your around to watch them 'de-ice' their car windows.

Too late, don't do as I suggest if it's your own car!

I still have my 2000 XL chameleon despite it being relegated to second bike in 2003. It's not been used as much as I'd have liked. It's done it's turn as a singlespeed (red though cos that's way faster than black) and now has a 1*9 set up and it's ready to rock the BMX track on Sunday when me and Wippersnapper up there go for a hungover jump-stumble.

It's glory days were the summer of 2001 round Glentress and the streets of Edinburgh – don't think I'll ever let it go…………

There you go if I had photos they'd look just like Jedi's……I wasn't man enough to ride in 4 weeks though – that's pretty impressive!

Jedi have you got a nice bony lump on the outside of your knee and a bit of bone missing from your hip?

Which bit have you broken? Straight through the mid way part of the bone? If so you should get full movement back no problem.

I broke my Tibial plateau a few years ago:

and can do everything I could do before. It took about 3 months before I got back riding and I'm even running on it now (never did running before I did it).

We have a lab/collie cross, he was 2 on Monday and has been coming running with me for hte last 6 months. We go three times a week for 6km a time. However I have not run for 17 years so I've had to build up slowley so the dog has too. He manages fine and is always keen to go, the run is 2/3rds off road adn a 1/3rd on road – he like the offroad most as he's off the lead and the ground is soft. We meet up with a few other dogs in the park in the morning so he also gets a good 40 minutes interval training chasing a football everyday too!!

The breed seems spot on for us, softness of a lab (we have a 5 month old son who he is great with) and intelligence(trainability) of a collie. He's very soft and will do pretty much what I say and stay with me anywhere.

He's been biking with me round the woods (2miles) a few times when he was younger and he loved it. He's also been round sherwood pines with us and loved chasing us down the 'downhill' bits. My brother has his sister and she is very similar in nature, we took the two of them round ticknall woods and they loved that too. I would not take him to the peaks or the like as the route would be too much for him and too rocky for him to run over at speed. Don't think I'd like to risk it taking him for anything over 10miles too often though.

As whippersnapper says we had lots of fun in North Wales. Few days camping in Betws y coed for the bikers then a couple of nights in a bunk house in Dolgellau. Did 4 good rides, one dressed in ladies pajamas, went swimming in my pants, drank a fair amount of beer, had a couple of currys, played pub golf and spent a day dressed in Lederhosen!

    Was a good time!!

Just found that the inside leg measurements are on wiggle – I'd need a xl or xxl. Might get some to try and see – why do they assume that all tall people are fat and shorter people skinny?

    Lucas

I'm 6'3" with a 36inch leg and 34 waist, which usually means you have to XL for length and then have a 40 inch waist to try and reign in. I wish they dit them like jeans in waist and leg length rather than s.m.l.xl

yeah pain in the arse, I have tubless ready acx on 717 and a DT440 or something. Both are so tight I was sweating like a peado in a playground after fitting the first one and the second just knackered my hands, took about 1.5hrs to fit them both. Was doing getto tubless so had the innertube making the fit a bit tighter. I've got some metal intense tyre leavers now which has made it easier but I hope I don't need to fit them when out!

thefallguy – were you the group sitting outside the pub when we (2 of us covered in mud) came back to the car at 9ish?

May well take you guys up on the offer of guiding. We've just decided to try wednesday night a regular thing – although we might struggle to be there for 6pm everyweek I'm sure we can manage it a few times.

Next couple of weeks are earmarked for more local south Notts rides. I'll give you a shout before we go next time.

Not really no, I've been there a few times but don't know any of the singletrack and certianly couldn't find it in the dark!

Hi Pook – I was one of the guys from Nottingham, I did wonder if it was you in the car park before setting off.

We had a good ride, boggy in places (which I presume are the bits of original track that have not been resurfaced) but it all adds to the fun. There was one slippy sliddy downhill about 3/4 way round that was very good. Gld teh rain stayed off too!

Pook – I thought they closed the gates to the car park at 6pm, I think that's what a sign said last week anyway. We rode through the car park at 8.30ish and it was empty but the lights were still on. The leisure centre seemed like a good/safe option though as it was still busy at 9 when we left.

Where do you guys park for a night riding at Sherwood pines? We went last week and parked at the leisure centre at Lidgett.

First time I've done the Kitchener trail (don't know the place well enough to find singletrack at night) – thought it was good for a night ride, poss a bit un-technical for day time though. Doing the feeride wooden drops for the first time in the dark was interesting, dropping into a black hole with lights on the bars.

I have two sets, when they seize I take them off and leave in oil while I fit the set that had previously seized and left in oil (then freed up using a method similar to PP's above). Seems to work.

It's a nightmare! I had 4 rooms in the last house to do, best thing was that the f'ing celings were woodchip too AND it had about 5 coats of silk paint over it. Spent a solid week (9am till 7pm every day) scraping that stuff off.

No tips apart from steamer, scraper, gloves and loads of dirty words to shout at the walls. It'll give you strong arms though.

TLR – Custom paint is about your lot I think, but then they are pretty well thought out as it stands. Great CUSTOMer service too (I swapped for a larger front triangle after having the bike for 3 years and they did me a crash replacement price).

I hate threads like this – got a HL 5 spot and they just make me want to update to the DWL. Not that I don't like the HL but I want a DWL – think they'd be a bit better a stand up pedalling (sprinting out of corners etc). I also like the custom orange colour they do.

I saw the concrete of the skate ramp approach fast as I fell off while trying to turn halfway up the halfpipe. Maybe if I try every morning I'll be able to do it in a few years.

New berlingo multispace is based on the C4, a car. Think the old multispace (or whatever that version was called) was based on the van though

You press the button on the back to turn it on and off (so it clicks) but press it with less force to cycle through the different light outputs (no click)

Why not ride up turn round and do the 'last' downhill first thing – at 7.45am. Probably be clear at that time then you can go off and do the rest of the ride and pootle down it being nice to people later on at the end of the ride.

Think about what you are doing – the paths are shared, cyclists are probably the most venerable in terms of having access removed, especially if people don't play nice (or ride like a t**t).

You want big fat oats that have not been milled too much otherwise you might as well eat readybreak/2minwankyporridge. morrisons do nice organic oats (brown bag) as do Asda (white box) organic as these seem to be the ones that have not been ground down to dust. Dorset stuff is nice too but is pricy and I've only seen the one with apples in it and I'm not keen on that.

My fav is big FAT oats microwaved in milk, then when it's too hot to eat chuck a handful of frozen blackberrys/rasberrys/strawberrys/blackcurrents etc in. This cools it to an acceptable temp and means that the fruit defrosts and just the right amount of juice mixes in with the porridge. Finish with a spoon of brown sugar – yum yum!!
