An RV is going to be quite an expensive way of doing it.
Any particular reason you say that? Is it more expensive than in California? I have done it twice there and it was by far the cheapest and best way to get around (3/4 people and bikes etc.)
Been looking at Colorado – I am not sure whether the climate would allow in Oregon in Sept? I know North California can start getting a bit nippy in early Sept (when I would go), so further North I would imagine it is even colder?
ltheisingerFree MemberI am running the CB Iodine wheelset and have recently changed from 9 speed SRAM to 10 Speed SRAM (with PG1070 cassette) and when I first fitted it I had the shock of the cassette fouling on the spoke connections to the hub.
I put two of the blue nylon washers on the freehub and have had no issues whatsoever. I have not suffered from the lock ring issues that you have either, so not really sure why yours would be different?
Not really that helpful, but thought I’d post and let you know before you bin all the X0 10 speed stuff (PS: Mine is all SRAM X0, i.e. shifters & mech – so it sounds like a similar set up to yours).
ltheisingerFree MemberOh yes – I’ve been (twice now) and I was lucky enough to have been guided by Charlie Kelly (absolute legend!) & Joe Breeze.
Did you take the ‘Repack’ back down to the bottom? Had to be done!
I am planning to get back yet again next year (hopefully).
Where else did you go? Did you manage to get any of the other places in…Downieville or Mammoth Mountain?
At the start of the ‘Repack’:

I have managed to sort mine now – just a little faffing and I worked it out.
Do you have a 2011 or 2012 post?
The 2011 post has a rubber ‘strain relief’ (boxy looking thing under the seat post that the hose goes in to) & the 2012 has an aluminum screw on strain relief.
I looked around and I couldn’t find the rubber strain relief anymore and on research it appears that is the bit they changed/redesigned for the 2012 post (must have been breaking the barb on a regular basis like you and I).
Regardless of whether you have the 2011 or 2012 post I would go for the newer design. The barb screws in to the hose and then the strain relief screws on to the barb (Seems considerably better/stronger!).
This is what you are looking for:

So what SEO do they do? I bet it just means they wil submit the URL to Google.
The ‘onsite’ SEO is made up primarily from the site construction and as I assume you are aware of how SEO works, you’ll understand what I mean when I say that the site is constructed with careful use of: Key Words, Key Word densities, H1, H2 & H3 headings, Alt Text for images, Meta Data & domain selection (and yes as part of it Yell do submit an XML site map to the major search engines). Ongoing ‘onsite’ SEO is achieved through amends to the site at any point free of charge and resubmitted to achieve the most up to date information being served up (which should be a big consideration to keep it fresh for the search engines).
However, as you will also be aware a great deal of SEO comes from ‘Offsite’ SEO which unfortunately is down the the individual who owns the site to perform (this is the same for any site you buy). ‘Offsite’ SEO can be achieved through good use of Social Media, Non Reciprocal links, blogs, pictures & video content (amongst other things). Things like Google Places will also help get clicks to the site, especially when targeting a smaller geographical area and this is free
What your son needs is his OWN domain and NOT a sub-domain from Yell.
It is his own domain and NOT a sub domain and it is focused towards the geographical target market, just as you point out.
So ‘mastiles_fanylion’ you are right – Yell do exactly what you recommend, but also a lot more to ensure the site is as successful as possible in what is the huge lottery of getting your website found once it has been produced and set live.
OP: Obviously Yell is not the only choice for a website and I am only speaking from experience of how well it has worked for many people I know. Careful consideration has to be given to your choice (there are many) for the reasons I (and others) have given above.

Dartmoor, exmoor?
I’ve ridden both quite extensively and fancied a change of scenery.

Afan isn’t much further than Cwmcarn, neither is the FoD, especially when you don’t pay for fuel
I really want to get to Brechfa this year but that’s a bit of a drive for a days riding.
The Quantocks are great but as already said, a guide is essential to get the best out of it.
I’m planning in digging my bike out again soon, I’ve not ridden over the last few months for various reasons.
Hey Bucko! Hope your well buddy?
I suspect that nearer the summer Brechfa will be in the plan (you could always get a seat with us). I’ll let you know if that happens, I think it could be a two day’er and combined with Brechfa?
As for the Quantocks – that is what I heard (Guided is best), so maybe I’ll be able to get in on an STW ride at some point?
Afan not much further than Cwncarn 8O Just checked and it’s about another hour at least!
FoD was where I was thinking – I have heard that some of the trails are pretty good? Verderer is at FoD and I have heard a few things about riding there, but was hoping someone might come up with some ‘more’ detail.
ltheisingerFree MemberDoes he advertise in the Yellow Pages?
If he does, they will do a webiste as part of package with his advert at the moment (up to the 2nd March) – from a £1 build cost & £20 month inc. all hosting, domain name, amends and SEO.
This is for a 5 pages and fully optimised (which is usually the bit missing from other providers).

Quantocks.
Good point. Do you know anywhere I can get routes for that area?
ltheisingerFree Memberthebikechain – Member
nah. Not one we do sorry. Try Solent Cycles or 18bikes i reckon.
Cheers anyway – any recommendation of ones that you do have?
ltheisingerFree Memberthebikechain – Member
By the way – do you have DMR Vault Pedals (I can’t see them on your website?) with spare pins (Red)?
ltheisingerFree Memberthebikechain – Member
Need to look at one for mine at some point.
Cheers and we hope to see you again.
(I will warn you, i have a weird long term memory so will probably write random notes if i see your orders in the future…. ‘on the spectrum’ apparently)
I reckon its a good ‘addition’ to protect the lovely frame!
After that service, you will certainly be on my choice in the future.
Look forward to the ‘random’ notes…. :D

You Leo by any chance…?
presuming your user name is related to your surname in some way….
Close enough….Leon. Thanks for the Ibis Guard. Perfect.

Chain reaction and pay for next day delivery?
No – they don’t have them in stock until 20/2. Thanks buddy.
ltheisingerFree MemberThey haven’t fitted a new 10 speed front mech have they by accident? I haven’t checked, but someone said the other day they have a narrower cage?
ltheisingerFree MemberAlways carry one of those ‘squirty’ water bottle things and clear off the muck before I tighten the rack on to the bike. Also got a piece of an old inner tube that I wrap around the frame first. No damage to my previous bike (painted) or no signs of damage after carrying the new carbon frame either?
I never fancied mounting one of the most expensive parts on the bike into the rack (561) which is effectively being used for the stability (i.e. the fork).
ltheisingerFree MemberAre you running double or triple up front? 9spd or 10spd?
ltheisingerFree MemberDo you mean ‘not much difference’ when sat on the seat and weighting it or ‘not much difference’ when pedaling up hill? IMO you don’t really see a difference until the pedaling comes in to play.
ltheisingerFree Member591’s for me. Been using them for the last 3 years and been many many miles with them – no issues at all.
ltheisingerFree MemberIt depends on the model of fork I believe – exact same thing happened to me last week on a set of 36 Talas’ and I was told they won’t be in until March (by Mojo). So if yours come on the same shipment, then expect a wait.
I went and found mine in stock somewhere else in the end – meaning I am the proud owner of my first set of brand new forks and have already ridden them!
ltheisingerFree MemberFor the boost valve they usually recommend 1xPsi per lb in weight, so the guide for you would be 210psi. Then +/- psi to suit riding style.
ltheisingerFree MemberUsed them on several wheelsets – without a single issue. I have used them pretty hard too, riding with them in Alps & USA.
ltheisingerFree MemberTaken from BA (which is why I decided to fly with Virgin last year as it is completely free!)….
Sporting equipment
There is no additional allowance for sporting equipment (inc. bicycles), but it can be carried free of charge as part of your free checked baggage allowance.
If the total number of bags is more than your free checked allowance, you will need to pay extra bag charges.
So take you main bag under 23kg which is free – then add one additional bag (for the bike) and keep it under 23kgs which will be charged depending on the type of ticket you have, i.e. Euro Traveller UK Domestic = £30, Club Europe (2nd bag is free) or World Travller = £34.
But to get these prices you need to do it online through your ‘Manage Your Booking’ on BA.com – otherwise the charges are higher if you pay at the airport (i.e. £35, £35 or £40).

I was in the group of 4 (2 girls, 2 guys) on a green Dialled Alpine. Glad he got out alive its quite deep there.
I remember. Thanks for slowing to ask though! Appreciated.

Likewise 3×10; you just may not be able to use 6 gear combos that you wouldn’t use anyway. Personally I’d say go for it, unless you often find yourself scrabbling for the wrong gear. The shorter cage should result in fewer mech/ rock strikes, too
That is exactly my thinking! I don’t use those combos…ever and the chances are I will go 2×10, but I don’t want to limit myself if I don’t get on with 2×10. Mech Strikes are my concern on long cage.
ltheisingerFree Memberawh – Member
Don’t forget you need a chain of the right length as well
Chain wise not an issue – As long as I buy one long enough, I can always take links out as I use a power link.
ltheisingerFree MemberMmmm? The more I think the more I can’t decide? As for Long cage & double + bash…I don’t know?
ltheisingerFree MemberOk, thinking again….
For 9 speed (medium cage) I was running 11-34 cassette and 26-36-44 chain rings – so at the top end I would have 26+34=60t and at the bottom end 11+44=55t.
On 3×10 I would have 24+36=60t at the top end and 11+42=53t at the bottom end – so in theory would a medium work on 3×10 (as it did for 3×9)?
ltheisingerFree MemberSuperficial – Member
It’ll be fine as long as you accept that you might not be able to use all chainring/sprocket options. I.e. small front + small rear will give you too much slack, and big front + big rear might stretch the mech (especially on a compressed full sus) to the point of drivetrain explosion.
The range on the new 10speed is greater than 9 speed, especially if you go for an 11-36 cassette, which presumably means the mechs have to take up a greater amount of chain.
Mmmmm? Looks like I am going to have to make a decision on 2×10 or 3×10 before I’ve tried it? Gutted. :?
ltheisingerFree MemberTo be honest I don’t really know – it was a while ago now and all I remember is most of the bits I need were ‘gravelly’ and not much single track? Be great if you have that map in a bigger format though?? :-)
ltheisingerFree MemberKeeping an eye on this thread… I’ve ridden Woodbury a couple of times and not seen anything like this up there?
ltheisingerFree Memberawh – Member
Is there nothing on the manufacturer’s website? I thought the difference in size between the smallest and largest sprocket was usually the deciding factor.
Usual stuff – i.e. 3×10=long & 2×10=Medium, but they used to say 3×9=long & 2×9=Medium – however you could run 3×9 on a medium and I suppose that is what I’m after? Is anyone running 3×10 on a Medium 10speed mech?
ltheisingerFree MemberI can’t comment on the two frames as I’ve never had any experience of either of them, but the Descent Gear Website has always been good the few times I have used them.
ltheisingerFree MemberBump for the evening crowd – anyone run medium mech on 3×10? Is it ok?

Ithesinger – Was it you on Sunday at Haldon helping your mate (on a red Spesh i think) out of the ditch after he’d got the short sharp rise wrong just off the road?
He looked a little confused to be where he was to be honest!
Nice bike by the way!
Hey Burchy1 – Yep, that was me. My mate took a right old tumble in to that ditch! He bruised up his leg, arse & hip pretty bad actually after hitting the tree stump on his way down…but he’ll survive I’m sure. Thanks for checking he was ok. What were you riding? Were you part of the group or the guy on his own?
ltheisingerFree MemberThanks LoCo. Might just go for the medium cage then?
I won’t be ordering until later tonight, so hopefully a few more bits of feedback before I press ‘buy’.
ltheisingerFree MemberAs said above – Saint is the obvious one, but Race Face do some and there are others.
