I ride with two dogs from time to time – but usually in very quite area of Dartmoor where I live, if its busy then I would give it a miss! So my point really is that 2 dogs per person is not too many if at the right place.

When you 'followed the course' yesterday, did you still start the timer? If you didn't start the timer it doesn't record the data?

The GTC doesn't ask me whether I want to keep the profile as the profile is the same on both the GTC & the unit itself?

EDIT: Try going to the menu 'Device' and click on 'Receive from Device' – may work?

I use GPSies.com – not sure if that's any good to you?

Try turning down the bit rate when riding? If you've got it cranked right up it will use more power trying to smooth the picture.

RL on my Heckler and I sought the latest one out after foolishly selling the one that was on my last bike when I sold the bike! Sooooooo comfortable!

Is it my imagination or are the forks on that Chumba fitting on backwards?

Such a personal preference thing as well, I rode on a pair of Nevegals after they were recommended by a few people & hated them-thought they were one of the worst tyres ever made.

True…but going to have to try something different! The old Heckler did really well on the High Rollers, but the new Heckler just doesn't seem to have the grip the old one did on High Rollers – so figured tyres (cost) would be a good starting point??

Until recently I would have said Maxxis High Roller, but as above….I have had sooooo may recommendations to go for Kenda Nevegal's – these are what I have just ordered!

Hi all – sorry to crash your thread but I assume you are all from Devon, so I was wondering whether anyone on here keeps trail info that can be downloaded onto a Garmin GPS?

I am new to the whole XC/Single track thing (I got to old and had a bad DH accident which took me away from riding for 8 months – 6mths in a cast!) – so I am limited by what tracks I have found through books and mags etc.

I live on Dartmoor, but having not ridden many trails in the 'new' capacity I am struggling to find new all places to ride all the time.

    I have done so far:
Princetown Loop – i.e. Princetown to Burrator to Princetowm.
Postbridge Loop – inc. the 5 river crossings
South Brent Loop – from South Brent to Avon Dam to South Brent.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks. Leon.

Off to California to ride 10 of the top 20 single track (according to an MTB poll) in September – hoping that will be the riding/holiday of a lifetime.

I wouldn't touch Mavic wheelsets ever again. If you break a spoke/rim/hub, parts can either be impossible to find or waaay over priced. Mavic are no help in sorting you out either.
No matter have much marketing BS you swallow, you won't ever better a decent set of hand built wheels.

Interesting? I've had Mavic in the past, but had no issues – so I suppose I haven't had your experience.

So what would be your combination of build then? Hub, Rim & Spokes?

And it really does work! My missus convinced me to put it on (despite my protests because of the scent!) and it kept away all biting pests!

There's a loop at Bovey Tracy which around the corner from where you are (the loop is about 20 miles I think) – I can dig out the map and scan the details for you tomorrow if you want me too? Just send me an email (in profile) and I can send it back to you tomorrow sometime.

Have you ever looked at a Home Brew Shop – that's where I can mine? I'm not sure what size you have (i know its 16gm, but size of cylinder?) But I adapted the pump to fit the CO2 bulb – Easy!

If you can here's a link and they cost about £8.00 for 10!

Last Sept I took a tumble after hitting a jump just as my chain slipped = not enough power to clear landing!

Result = came down very hard on my foot (the foot was pointed down), which resulted in all bones being pushed back and being crushed!

The fracture is called a 'Lisfranc fracture'. This led to emergency op to save my foot (the fracture often results in amputation of the foot) – 5 months in a cast (got out on 12th Feb this year) – I only started riding again 6 weeks ago, but still under going intensive physio now.

Due to all the pins, plates & wires , my foot no longer flexes correctly and the bones inside the foot have fused together (the best I could have hoped for according to surgeon?). Here's a pic after the op….

As you can see, all the bones between ankle and metatarsals are crushed.

Yeah, the formula ones are more expensive, but can be moved from wheelset to wheelset or sold if you go back to bolt-up rotors and the great thing about them is they are secured in place with existing tools, i.e. Front = BB Tool & Rear = Cassette tool – this way they are done up nice and tight, hence no movement or play.

I use Shimano XT Wheelset (776) and Hope Floating Rotors with the 'Formula Centrelock Adpater' and I have to say that this combination has given me no issues what-so-ever!

This may be a silly question but not having my own house I don't know these things…

What is stopping someone take out M&S contents insurance primarily to insure their bikes even if they don't own a house? Can the contents insurance also be for contents of a rented room in a shared house and still have the same level of cover for the bikes?

Yep, because it's rented and you have 'stuff' to insure.

M&S cover up to £4k at home or away if you chose the away from home option. That's per bike, no matter how many you have.

Thanks Mate – I must have NOT ticked the away from option! Will try again..

I've just been looking too and Direct Line (Home Plus Package) gives up to £4k cover on a single bike whilst at home and £1500 away from home, this is the best I could find? £249 a year. I am still looking for one that will cover more than £1500 away from home? But this may suit you?

    Thanks Zaskar…

Ah! It feels real twitchy and in tech bits (slower speeds) it feels like I'm going to go over the handle bars all the time – I don't, but it just feels that way? I know the set up is a personal thing, but I need to get some idea whether I would be better off with longer/ higher rise stem – through feedback of others' experiences…

First has significantly better alloy in the 7075, so probably less like to snap! Other than that….no other difference? (Except price.)

I had a bad mtb accident last year and I broke my mid foot into lots of little pieces….this has made me VERY nervous about stubbing my foot (the cause of the mid foot break, but just hit VERY hard). I now use the ones below (Shimano MT32 MTB SPD) and although they can be used for SPD's, I don't! They have a removal part if you do want to though – if not they are flat. Very solid sole! Stops the foot flexing and very hard at the front – these I would think will not allow a stubbed foot/ toe & I can recommend them highly!

I think they only come in 27.2 or 31.6 – but I can not be 100% sure?
