I am of very similar build to you and the with 'cheap' Endura range I would agree are not all that clever, but I now use the MT500 Endura short under my Endura Singletracks and I have to say they are the best combo I have ever used – for a 36 waist make sure you go for the XL though as Endura are cut slightly on the small side!

Yeah, I've got a couple (one in fact done today!) so I will upload and send across the links.

I am trying the same thing, but for a different reason and I have taken to swimming every day, been doing it for 4 days now and the difference for me is already noticeable – I have gone from doing 60 lengths in 45mins to 74 lengths in the same time today.

I don't know if its a bit far for you but I had the race jerseys done for my team at http://www.devontees.com and they were great! Based in Ermington in Devon – all I had the do was provide a .jpg of what I wanted on the jersey.

Del – Ha! I see how you may have read that, but what I meant about the "I'm not really that fussy if they are in good condition" is that….. I am not really fussy about the model as long as they are in good condition.

The ones that I was sent a link to didn't really fill me with confidence that they were in good condition, i.e. the description said "Well used".

Thanks buddy – seen them, I was looking for something in better condition – they don't sound like they are good condition, maybe I'm being a bit picky?

Ok from what you have said the 661 is the direct replacement for the 771.

Is it the direct mount version?

Just had the same dilemma and ended up with maxxis minions front & rear 2.35 Dual Ply – not regretting it at all! (Sound like I ride the same stuff as you too??)

    Identify the part number here:

Your local Shimano dealer should be able to order it for you.

Thanks buddy – it looks like its the freehub complete I need – as that diagram does not show a separate dust cover for the drive side.

Not quite sure which bi you mean, but talk to your local dealer and Madison should be able to send you the bit, there's a lot of spares available for the hubs.

Thanks buddy – I'll give Madison a go – I can't find spares anywhere for this hub specifically?

The bit I mean is the dust cover – there is one on both sides of the hub next to the bearings and on one side the dust cover has a metal strip on the inside of it (I think its the drive side? Because it sits against the loose bearings, rather than the non-drive side as the bearings are in a casing?)

I am going to agree with TandemJeremy – I rode out for the first time yesterday on a set of Maxxis Minion Super-Tacky and before I was riding on Maxxis Advantage. The difference was noticeable on the ups, on the road & on the downs…..

    Ups = harder pedaling
Road = Roll Resistance was MUCH higher
Downs = Roll resistance higher, but MUCH more planted!

I am going to put up with the ups & road due to its MUCH better performance down and lets face it 'most' of us MTB for the downs anyway!

Thanks to Simon & Neil for a great ride out today – god… you guys go up the hills quick, might have to consider my fitness!!! Seems I'm only fit for the downs!! Thanks again guys, really enjoyed it!

Ok buddy – we'll pick you up on route. I know Liverton quite well so no probs. We will defo be riding and we will be leaving here (Near Ivybridge) about 10.30ish and we'll give you a call when we turn off the A38. See you tomorrow and THANKS very much for the offer – really looking forward to it! Cheers Leon.

PS: Whats your name? – be a bit odd asking for 'Slippery' when I call. :D

Ideal! We will be coming from Cornwood direction – through Yelverton if we meet at/near hounds tor – but to be honest mate we can meet anywhere? If its easier/better…. I have three racks on the roof of my motor and if we don't do the loop option, we could pick you up where you leave your car – then we can head off in mine to the start and then you can do the uplift back to mine when we're finished? What do you think?

    ltheisinger
    Free Member

Sounds great! There would be two of us – so I'm not sure an uplift would be an option? But don't mind either way, would be quite happy to do a loop if uplift wouldn't be possible?

Don't mind technical descents, I had a bad MTB accident last year and building strength in the foot still – but always willing to look at anything and if its too much for the foot I can always get off….but so far I haven't had to do that and want to keep pushing myself as I'm off on a near 3 week road trip (MTB'ing) in 6 weeks time.

We would be able to get there by 11am how does that sound? Where would we meet you?

    ltheisinger

Ah! I was only talking about Houndtor earlier this evening and saying I had never done it – is it a loop and what time are you starting out? Would love to buddy….

No worries – myself & a buddy are planning to ride on the 24th/25th? Not entirely sure which one yet? But if you get stuck, give me a shout on here and we'll see what we can do….

Cool, ping me a mail when you're ready.

Also you might want to register on ww.socaltrailriders.org especially if you're planning on riding Aliso, as there are lots of friendly locals.

Certainly will give you a shout buddy and thank you very much for the offer! Thanks also for the tip on SoCaltrailriders – I will look them up later today.

Dont know about the first aid, but i'd recommend the flume trail in south lake tahoe, or northstar for that bike park experience. Also mammoth is cool, but a bit far off the beaten path. Natural hot springs a nice touch….
Yeah, I am going to ride the Flume trail just for the experience & we are also heading to Mammoth too, so thanks for the recommendation! – really starting to get excited now!!

Even more so now thanks to B A C O N!!! Cheers for the pics buddy…..that has really got me going (I'm going to drive the missus mad, seeing that she is staying at home and all I seem to talk about at the moment is the trip!!)

b a c o n – We will be heading your way around the 19th/20th Sept and we should be around for a few days – it would be great to be shown a few places around that area, because at the moment the only one we know around there is Aliso-woods Canyon? Then we were going to take 'Route 1' up the coast to Santa Cruz and see what we came across, but that doesn't mean to say we need to stick to that route, if the riding dictates!?!? 8)

No worries! Garmin Connect Account costs nothing, so I would do that if you can. Also The GPSies.com is also free and is an excellent site (more importantly – VERY easy to use)!

I use GPSies.com – upload the course directly from your Garmin and download the file as a GPX to use GPS route – even better, you can email the link to your mate and he download it directly onto his Garmin.

EDIT: or load it onto you Garmin Direct Account online and it can be downloaded there?

Can you just explain what you have? Have you tracked a course on the Garmin and now want to use it as a GPS route or just convert to a course to track yourself against in the future?

Not been to Santa Barbara itself, but I am doing a road trip around California (MTB'ing) in September and one of the places we are visiting is Aliso-woods Canyon, which is just below LA (near Laguna Beach), not sure how fixed you are to Santa Barbara – but if you can do short drives I believe this is worth it (we will certainly be giving it ago!).
