Mmmm? I have a couple of Minions (Front & Rear Specific) Super Tacky in the shed (hardly used) which I could use, but from memory (I haven’t ridden them for ages) they were VERY heavy & VERY ‘draggy’ – Will these still be ok for the ‘Singletrack’ stuff?

That might save me a few quid??

Happened to me and as mentioned as a potential issue above….It was the memory card, changed it for a new ‘Class 10’ card and it has been flawless ever since.

I wish I knew, off there at the beginning of July – so I’ll just wait to see if the location pops up on this thread….

Chris @ Roaring mouse cycles – he is a top guy!! I stayed outside his house in an Rv on my first trip to California in 2010 (we couldn’t find an Rv park near Fairfax), having never met him before! We even got a beer thrown into the bargain and a great night out at the 2am bar.

I had an invitation to France for a big MTB event in the Alps this summer, but it was for the same day my daughter will graduate from the university. Perhaps you remember her.

    Next Year.

That’s a shame, I expect you would have been in your element! Of course I remember her, she went and got me a much needed coffee the next morning! Say hello to her & your wife for me…

Next Year, what? The event was next year or you’ll go there next year instead?

Flume Trail’s not bad if you’re in the Lake Tahoe area. Cracking views, nothing too technical though.

Yeah, we did that a couple of years ago – we thought it was a bit tame & boring….but I know what you mean by the views!

I thought we were going to Switzerland this year.

    Whatever.

When you decide on a NorCal destination, I hope you’ll stop in our little town and say “Howdy.” (That’s Californian for, “Let me buy you a beer.”)

We are going to the Alps on the 7th July for a week, but just planning the next US trip.

Of course we’ll stop and say “Howdy”, but you’ll have to stop and say “Hello” (That’s English for, “Let me put a couple of ribs on the BBQ and my wife will do some corn bread for you.” :D )

EDIT: Oh…. and of course “Help yourself to my Sierra Nevada.” !!

Hi, google “Tsali” for details of a trail centre in North Carolina. The trails are good fun but not in the same league as Downieville.

If you want an alternative to California I would look at Breckenridge in Colorado – close enough to take in Fruita and/or Moab.

I think you read it wrong? ‘North California’ not ‘North Carolina’ – but on the other statement – Moad/Crested Butte is the other option we are considering?

Sometimes it is needed to get the cassette to clear the hub/spokes. I know this is for sure on the Crank Brothers wheelsets combined with certain cassettes.

Yeh no problems, I work in Southampton so that may make it easier, let me know nearer the time.

Thanks buddy – I am in Southampton myself sometimes for work (rarely – although I am there next week). I’ll be in touch shortly and thanks again.

Got two that I don’t use a lot and you can borrow but I am in west Sussex although do travel to the west country a fair bit so could meet up depending on where you are? if nothing else local turns up give me a shout.

That’s great – thank you very much. I am often in Reading, so could meet near there sometime & my son lives in Bracknell (an hour or so away?) so I could always arrange something with him.

If your offer is open and we get to within 4 weeks with nothing local coming up (I don’t want to leave it to late to get sorted), can I give you a shout again?

Am I right in thinking you get the Five with CCDB, Audi A4 Avant, and elbow pads free with the Parachute; or is it just the standard Five Pro?

If it does then I got ripped off!

I’ve got one – saved my face on a few occasions (despite popular opinion on here that it won’t). I don’t over heat and it’s comfortable even on longer rides. I would recommend.

I’ve ‘Face Planted’ wearing the Met Parachute a few times and never needed to spit my teeth out after :-) – so I for one am glad I have one despite all the ‘Storm Trooper’ comments when I’m out riding.

Why drive all the way to Dover?

Poole Cherbourg is a good route.

Just looking at the prices now – thanks buddy.

I’ve stayed before at Forumle 1 in Calais which is close to tunnel – solo trip so took late crossing got some sleep then left at 7am, the car park is “secure” in that it’s surrounded by a reasonable fence and has a barrier. I’d suggest if you were to use it you lock the bikes inside and to the car and cover them or even put them in the room with you if you’re worried. From memory there aren’t staff around so no one to make a fuss. It’s cheap and basic, ie shared bathrooms !

    @jam bo – Cherbourg -> Morzine ?

Thanks buddy, I’ll look into that & Only 100km further than from Calais, so not bad?

just give yourself 2 days and stop when you’ve had enough on day 1
go armed with a F1 hotel list

We’re trying to maximise on riding time. :D

    legend – Member

Drive to early morning ferry then straight to morzine – why bother stopping? That’s the way we usually do it from Glasgow

Mmmm? The only option we had come up with prior to posting.

I don’t want to put a dampener on things, but make sure you check carefully, this is what happened to my Heckler (on the weld as well and not straight at all) and it was a crack….

The DT CSW MA2.0 is the wheelset, not the hub and to be honest I can’t find what model hub that carries – so I reckon the only way to find out is the get on to DT Swiss themselves.

Medium will be fine – unless you run a 3rd ring on the front anytime in the future.

So your first thought that the chain device should be next to the BB is correct, or the chain device would not work for those of us with 73mm frames.

Ah right! If you took one spacer away from a 73mm (i.e. leaving no spacers) to make it right, then that would be the same as removing one (i.e. leaving one spacer) to make it right. So, there is one spacer against the BB shell before the chain device – right?

I think I just made it very complicated in my head, as I have never had a 68mm BB before.

I’d say if it looks better, then go with it. As long as your granny ring bolts don’t rub against the backplate it should be ok.

Nothing rubbing and it seems to work ok.

    andyl – Member

it looks like the backing plate of the chain device is 2mm thick so they want you to fit a 0.5mm shim, which I am guessing is supplied with it, to maintain the 2.5mm spacing of one of the original spacers?

I wondered if the plate was thinner? It looked about the same, but I suppose I wouldn’t see a 0.5mm difference with the naked eye.

Mmmm, I suppose I had better just ride it now and see if it behaves then??

    ltheisinger

Yeah – thanks buddy. Patience never was one of my strong points.

I started off by putting the chain device next the BB shell but then the chain ring looks like the right hand side (Bad side) of the illustration above. If I put the spacer next to the BB shell and then the chain device it looks like the left hand side (Good side) of the illustration? :?:

Dartmoor Sunday, Dartmoor again on foot on Monday, 3 laps of Verderers at FOD today, mostly under tree cover but still proper hot and great to be out.

Back to work for the next 2 days but I’m hoping the weather holds out for another ride on Dartmoor on Friday, then whatever the weekend brings.

    What an amazing week

You made it to FoD then buddy….did you enjoy Verderers? Could be riding on Dartmoor on Saturday if you fancy it?

No problem getting from Exeter to Newquay by train or coach – but I wouldn’t want to do it on a bus as I believe the bus from Exeter Airport to Newquay is 4hrs+. Train would be much easier & quicker(but there would be a taxi fare involved from the airport to the train station.
