I have one of these and you should use the ‘Easy Edit’ software (came with camera) to get them uploaded in the first instance – what software you use to edit after is up to you (I just use iMovie, which is good enough!).

When you have the camera plugged in and the ‘Easy Edit’ software open the ‘Tools’ menu and then select ‘Configure Camera’, from this menu I would configure the ‘low’ setting to 720p @ 60fps – this setting is BY FAR the best setting for MTB – this is because is captures more frames per second than in 1080p (which is 30fps) and therefore smooths the whole experience!

Took me a while to work all this out, but it was worth it….(when you watch this change it to 720HD on the You Tube setting)

Not sure how much they are worth – but would be interested in finding out! :D

Slowrider – interesting! I was looking at the Flow, but then I moved on to looking at the EX721 or XM819 – all around the same weight…. This what started confusing me in the first place!

Most ‘Home Brew’ shops do them at a fraction of the cost!

If you liked the Heckler that much…..The newer Heckler is 69 degree head angle with 140mm forks, but it will run up to 160mm – by putting the longer travel forks on, would that slacken it enough for you?

Nice one Yunki…. Sounds like you put in a real effort today! I am in the office tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll sort out the time I need on Friday for a ride – so I’ll be in touch tomorrow and let you know.

I am completely opposite to HH above – I have them on my Heckler and with a fiddle with the reach and bite points, I found them the most comfortable set of brakes I have EVER used!

As for power & modulation – they had their best test when I visited California last year and took on the likes of Mammoth Mountain & Downieville and I found them more than enough for even the toughest test – whilst remaining completely predictable.

    Would HIGHLY recommend them!

I had this exact same problem when choosing the Heckler (which has same TT length) – I went for the large and shortened the Stem from 100mm to 70mm (+1″ TT length = -25.4mm at least on the stem length).

I choose the large option with a shorter stem and for me it was the right choice – I find the bike handles superbly and I have better control, the medium just felt ‘squashed’??

I would ask the LBS who has the demo to swap the stem for the shorter one so you can try it (probably easier than them getting a medium demo) – I can’t imagine they would say no, bearing in mind the value of the sale they might get… 8O

Just for your info here’s the geometry for the Blur in case you need it?

The loop that I take is 14.34 miles, it includes the ‘Widow Maker’ down to Burrator, but it does include the ‘tame’ bit going back up to Princetown (about a 1/3 ride).

What time do you plan to ride on Friday? I might be able to do that one?

If you want a guide sometime then email me & I’ll see if I can come out to play

Nice one! I will definitely take you up on that. I having to get into some serious training from February onwards, as I’m away in Sept for 3 weeks of glorious riding and due to injury & Christmas its taken its toll on my weight/fitness – so I would like to try some new places to help the motivation. Cheers. :D

As other replies – a new freehub body and as TJ says, it not that difficult a job? Cost varies between £35 (Shimano, thats what I paid last time) to £50/60 Pro 2. Others may vary from this and some will not be replaceable.

Thats VERY interesting! I don’t really know any other routes back to Princetown (you’re right – a bit tame!), but I love coming down the widow maker! I can’t believe you go up it…. 8O

Do you store a GPS of your loops anywhere? And would you mind me having them if you do?

That’s a nice ride from the top down to Burrator! One of my favorite ‘quick rides’ – do you continue on from Burrator and go back via the old railway line (back to the car park in Princetown – making a loop)?

Normal on these forks if stored upside down.

I have the Heckler myself (got a 2009 now and had 2006 before) – NEVER had any issues with pivots/bearings or indeed the shocks either!!

I have replaced some pivot bearings for a mate recently after two years in the frame and it was VERY easy to do – in fact the whole bike is very easy to service/repair.

The money you could save buying the Heckler, will give you money to buy nice new shiny upgraded bits for it too!

I use the Contour 1080p (when riding its set at 720p @ 60fps) this is a video taken at the end of last year (watch it in 720p for full effect) – the thing I looked out for most was the light transitions, as this is one of the main things to consider when choosing (as we are always in and out the trees and you want to actually see ALL the ride! :D ). However, to add to this, the storage space on the card is FANTASTIC and also the battery life is endless!

Mojo HD140 in Vitamin P, been on order since October! Due mid/late February though, so counting the days

If I had one coming I’m sure I would be the same! Enjoy buddy! And if you get bored of the 140 you can always turn it into the 160 version by losing the ‘Limbo Chips’*!! :D

*and buy a new shock of course…

Yes the rotor will work with the caliper and assuming it is the standard 74mm caliper, this should be the right mount….

That’s what I bought them for and they went through it like a hot knife through butter – also used them on gear cabling etc. and it all good!

Stick with the chainset (unless it’s had it??!! – which I doubt) and get a new BB.

I have had three Hecklers now and have loved them all – I now have the 2009 model and it does everything! If it’s the coil to air thing that worries you, then put a coil on it – the Heckler can deal with it NO issues!

I still have the RP23 on mine and have considered changing to a coil shock, but every time I ride it I find myself asking the question, why change it if it ain’t broke?

However, the want to change from 140mm forks to 150mm/160mm is the struggle I am having!!

I use the 720p setting for mine it has a faster frame rate, which cuts down on the ‘blur’ – but had to have a play around first before I found this out….

If its being tricky then I hold the chain either side of the powerlink and bend the chain towards me whilst lightly pushing together….

Mmmm? That wasn’t easy to explain and I don’t even know if you know what I mean now! :?

Not sure if they have them – but always been really useful for me when getting shock bushes/bolts etc.

This is a rough guess as it will vary depending on forks and stem, but allowing for crown race etc. and then a stem you gotta be looking at a steerer of at least 200mm-205mm??

As long as they are 104mm BCD they should be fine – I’ve interchanged chain rings in the past and never had any issue as long as the have the right bolt ratio (i.e. 4/5) and have the correct BCD.

Not much in the direct area – but not that much of a drive to get into Exmoor National Park with LOADS of riding!
