    1. Long Trail = The Downieville Downhill – starting at the Sunrise Trail, which links up to Bucher Ranch, then down to 3rd Divide for smooth fast singletrack and ending on upper and lower 1st Divide to finish.

    2. Short Burst = The Repack – the short burst from the top down to the Finish line.

Hi Charlie……Ha ha! Yeah buddy. We are arriving on the Saturday afternoon this time and we figure that someone will allow us to park up somewhere? So you need to put the 10th Sept (evening) in your diary.

The flight is now booked for the Friday 9th Sept and the RV is booked to pick up on the Sat 10th Sept and then we will be heading straight to Fairfax – so a ride is definitely on the cards for Sunday! (and a few beers on the Saturday night!)

    Really looking forward to it!

Why don’t you give the buyer the choice of how to pay? i.e. £100 if Paypal gift or £105 if normal paypal – job done!

Thought this Thread was going to be about Ti Frames, thats a whole different story,

It was about both really…..just Ti in General.

Although I was wondering about Ti bolts/fasteners as well, because plenty of people do actually buy them. I thought they were expensive when I had a browse around and that got me thinking as to whether there was any advantage of having them? i.e. I know they are lighter, but are they stronger etc.?

Put it this way, if they were the same cost as standard ones, would you buy them instead?

MMMM? Does the grip lack on the Nevegals then? I am having a right dilemma at the moment, almost most to the point of releasing that ‘AGHHHHHHHHHH’ and stamping my feet like a child. I have recently had the following:

Maxxis Minion – they are super tacky, but SO SLOW & HEAVY!

Maxxis Advantage – Fast, light, but got bloody punctures ALL the time!

Hutchinson Toro – Slow, light & not many punctures.

WTB Prowler – just plain BAD!

Tyres seem to be a personal choice….but if I keep trying different ones – it’ll cost me a FORTUNE!

I’m finding them VERY heavy & the rolling speed is well….. 8O SLOW! I just want a faster rolling, LIGHTER & stronger tyre, that will do it all! Am I asking too much?? :(

    Update:

Ordered from these guys today and I have to say they were excellent! Went out of their way to get it to me tomorrow, even phoned the carrier to check to make sure they could get it to me for tomorrow! Would highly recommend!

Lake Tahoe is amazing as well fantastic singletrack jawdropping views .Kamikaze @Mammoth bike park , you’ll start off thinking this is just a fire road then when you pick up speed and look at the sheer drop watch the corners !

Thanks OF – we did Tahoe last year and it there were jawdroppingly excellent views as you say, but we found the riding ‘ok’, so we have decided to leave that out this time around and see if we can get in some different places (as well as our favorites from the last time!). And I have to agree with Mammoth, that is one of the places where we only spent a day last time and have decided it deserved more time – so this time we are going to give it 2/3 days!

You should try and visit Yosemite. It will leave you aghast.

Santa Cruz is cool but make sure the weather is good… not under your control obviously but we went during a pacific storm. let’s just say it wasn’t like a scene from Baywatch although 52 channels of telly in the Comfort Inn and the outdoor jacuzzi were used. Americans question Scottish mentality when they see you in the rain and gusting wind in a hot tub having a great time.

You cannot ride off road in Yosemite by the way.

Thanks TBC – We didn’t get any time as Yosemite last time (other than driving past), so this time I think it has to be a must! Santa Cruz was excellent weather last time, but again not enough time there – so we are going to do 2/3 days here too! (PS: It was scorching last time!)

    MMM? Not sure then mate?

Have one of the plastic spacers come out?

    If not difficult to say….

Maybe the crank has come out slightly and it’s not tightening back up evenly (cross threaded), making it seem like it’s done up tightly, but not really?

Can it be seen with a few different pics? It might help?

Enough spacers for the size of BB?

Sounds like dehydration? Try drinking plenty after (more than you usually do!)…. my mate suffers in a similar way (well….did), but but he uses the re-hydration drinks after a ride now (within 20 mins) and BINGO! No issues now…

too big or too small nick? you are 6ft plus right?

    Too big Rob..

    6ft but with à 30″ inside leg..

It just felt, dunno.. Cramped I guess??

Felt like I was perched on it, and when I was going downhil, felt like I was gonna go over the bars?

    Dunno, it’s weird…

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN! I had the same until I got the longer stem and it sorted that feeling out completely!! From 70mm to 100mm

Mine was 32lbs (ish) with XT776 wheelset (NOT LIGHT!) and Maxxis Minion Dual Ply (ALSO NOT LIGHT!) – I should have shaved a couple of pounds off with new tyres and wheelset, so hopefully down nearer the 30lbs, but wouldn’t want trade any of the heavier duty parts to go any lighter, for the use I put it through!

    I have a Heckler – LOVE IT!

I was running it with a 90mm stem a Thomson Layback (as pics), but I have just added a Joplin, so have changed the stem to a 100mm – I am 6′ dead on. I find either set up perfect for me?

The fork range I would say 140mm-160mm – I run 140mm (u-turns) and find the adjustment useful on the ups!

    Spec:
    Medium Ano Black Frame
    Rock Shox Pike 454 U-Turn Air 95-140mm
    Fox RP23 Shock
Hope Tech M4’s with floating rotors
Sram X0 Shifters & Mechs (with Matchmaker clamps for the Hopes!
    XT Crankset
    DMR V12 Mag Pedals
Crank Brother Iodine Wheels (just changed from the XT776’s show in Pics)
    Joplin 4 Seat Post
    SDG Ti-Rail Saddle

You have to export the movie from which ever ‘editing’ software you use. I use iMovie as I use a mac and then when I have finished editing I export video to YouTube etc.

I’m not sure if you got it sorted, but I had the same problem with my centre lock and had to buy a new cassette tool as the old one wasn’t deep enough to reach over the QR – so this is the one I bought to solve the issue…works a treat (Much deeper than the normal tool)! CLICKY!

    Hmmm wheelpro website says:-

I no longer offer custom wheelbuilding, I only sell Hope Hoops made by Hope Technology.
    and
Crest and Flow Hope Hoops out of stock and non (sic) on order. I am no longer selling Hope Hoops.

I found that as well – so I assume they are no longer available from them?

But I’ve just found these (and I want red hubs too!)…

    Red Pro II on Flows

    VERY tempted!

Not Europe – but with the Euro exchange rate, it may not work out a whole lot dearer?

    CALIFORNIA!

Did it last year in an RV around the best riding spots in California for two weeks & two days – total cost circa. £1500pp and that was with an RV that took 4 people! Doing it again this year but with 4 of us and an RV that takes 6-7 people and the cost is circa. £1200pp.
