6’4” and my transition sentinel is 515mm reach and I run a 50mm stem. Wouldn’t want anything shorter and having a bike that fits is ace!

Ive had it for about 13 years now. It won’t stop you riding at all. I’m my case it did take a long time to get to get used to it. I was only able to walk comfortably with gabapentine for about 5 years. I also fall over if I close my eyes!!

Glad to hear you’re getting checked out. Just for reference I’ve never had night sweats or any of the ‘classic’ symptoms of Lymphoma but have been unlucky enough to have had it 3 times (lucky enough to still be here tho!) so deffo get yourself checked.

I have just reproofed an old Endura MT500 jacket that used to leak loads with the Muc-off spray on stuff and have been very impressed, much more so than when I’ve tried with Nikwax in the past

I used to have a pair of those Clark’s rotors on a hard tail set up for bike seat duties and found that when going down a particular hill the discs would heat up and warp alarmingly. Like a good cm or so. I only used them a couple of times before replacing with shimano ones and no problems after that

I left being a design engineer to become a maths teacher, was the best thing I’ve ever done! I would whole heartedly recommend it! And not JUST because of the 6 weeks off in the summer

Sorry to hear that. I’ve been going through similar for the past year, and yes it seems so. My only advice would be to contact a solicitor BEFORE moving out. I wish I had done this!

    good luck

As a school teacher who has both lived and worked in Hucknall and Arnold, in terms of schools deffo, deffo Arnold.
In terms of living there really isnt much in it, I never got on with the Pubs in Hucknall (a bit rough for me) but there is the tram into town…. Both are pretty close to decent biking (and i’m happy to show you some really decent bits!)

I recently built up my ‘dream bike’ a carbon knolly warden, pretty well kitted out (saint, hope, fox x2 shock etc)
It was then stolen, and I bought a reduced Trek Fuel Ex 7, still a nice bike but no where near as expensive…… and I’m finding its quicker almost everywhere and the cheaper brakes/gears/wheels etc all seem to work as well as the expensive stuff I had before. (I do still lust after expensive bikes though!)

I have funnily enough just retired a five frame of similar vintage due to a crack in the swing arm. PM me and I’m sure I can stick one in a Jiffy bag for a Donation to cancer research.
It will be orange in colour though!

Thanks all. Yeah it’s going to be a long summer! But I’ve had this before and will get through it again. Plus I’ve been allowed a new bike when it’s all over! Every cloud and all that! And I’m Xbox but thank you

Me! I’m two weeks in to a four month stretch of chemo, and feel rubbish! I reckon I’ll be back on the bike just in time for the clocks to change again!

    Fantastic news!
As someone who has been through it twice before and has just been diagnosed with cancer for a third time, just be aware that being given the all clear can be a really tough time when a lot of emotions come out. It was like that for me.

Thank you for sharing that. It’s made my day a little easier to get started!

Cheers for all the advice. I think I’m going to go for the P7. I’ll report back after the weekend!

Thanks duir that’s exactly what I think I was hoping to hear! It is an xl bike and it felt great round the car park!

Thanks all. The P7 is longer than the scout but I guess it’s the 27.5 vs 29 thing it’s just in my head that it ‘could’ be better!! I hate making decisions!

It’s a current P7 and is pretty light due to the build. I have ridden a first generation trek stache 29er and a couple of fs 29ers and always thought that was the way to go……. but this P7 looks lovely

I had a 1.4 TFSI Leon estate in FR spec, the 150bhp version. It was fantastic, easily got 45mpg on a mixed commute, long trips would see 55+ It was also pretty quick, easily as quick as the Octavia VRS we also looked at

I’m not 100% about creation but I know they have sorted out a couple of guys with a dark side and have I think their team guys on banshees and they are local!
Let me know when your sorted and we can sort out a ride

Assuming you are who I think you are! Give creation cycles a shout. They are in Nottingham and are banshee dealers I think. Really too guys who ride up at Bestwood a lot. They may have a demo or similar

I installed one in our loft last year around this time and it’s been fantastic best £250 I’ve spent on house stuff. Where we used to get a large amount of condensation we now have none and there is no evidence of mould in the corner of exterior walls

My apologies if my response came on a bit strong. I also have an issue with the idea that its possible to ‘lose the battle’ because that implies that by surviving I have some how ‘won’ I haven’t. I don’t think anyone who has ever been through it has. I do, however, consider myself to battling the effects of the disease – I think i always will.
And yes life can be shit, which means the good days really do matter.

I was just about to respond to that with something along the lines of it being a battle against the emotional/physical/financial implications of having a potentially terminal disease that means that I don’t consider I have ever, nor will ever stop battling the effects of cancer – then I realised that someone who could respond to a thread like this with the response you did is probably a complete arse

As someone who has had cancer twice, last time being stage 4, I think the term battling the disease is quite appropriate.

I have fitted guards to my norco threshold A3. If I recall there are mounting points at the bottom of the fork on my (mine doesn’t have the bolt through axle of the higher spec ones) Assuming yours has the same fork it should be. Did require some bending of the mudguard stays to clear the disk but wasn’t too much of a pain to fit. SKS longboards for me which are amazing!

I’m based in Mapperley and ride quite a lot at Bestwood and more recently Gedling country park. Theres a lot of good stuff if you know where to look! Like wise Burntstump way for more XC stuff.
Give me a shout if you fancy a ride, again email in profile

We test drove one of these along with a GTD golf and ended up with a Seat Leon FR with a 1.4 TFSI, which is actually only 0.2 secs slower to 60, does 45-50mpg with ease, and was about £100 a month cheaper on PCP. Really chuffed with it

Suggesy. Very true words. I have to admit I spent most of the time in hospital looking around at everyone else in there feeling lucky I wasn’t as ill as them. Defo makes you realise what’s important in life tho and I feel strangely lucky to have learnt that early on (would of still much rather not learnt that way tho!)

For me it’s probably having stage four hodgkins Lymphoma (lungs, stomach, spine, hips, femur etc etc) and then also being diagnosed with auto immune hepatitis ( my body is trying to reject my own liver) all in the same couple of months. At the age of 25. Although it was the second time I’d had the cancer I was still pretty bloody stressed as was my family.
40 % chance of surviving Still that was nearly 8 years ago, puts things into perspective a tad though

Do it! I always use that exact tyre in the summer with a 2.5 minion up front. It is quite surprising how grippy it is.

I’ve ridden it a few times on my five and its been pretty much perfect for it. The only times I’ve ever wished for my downhill bike has been when looking at the big drop – but tbh I dont think i would of ridden it anyway! But stick the dual ply tyres on and enjoy it!

Its one of the few things I can really do properly! I can pull up a one handed wheelie no problem, and can on a good day pull up a no-hander. Length wise the best i have done is 4 miles. Tips to learn them is grow up in a village on the somerset levels with nothing else to do! and feather the back brake!
