Personally I would have ignored the first phone call. Was the call from your own insurance company? Could be anyone on the end of the phone. Get them to send correspondence in the post to be sure.

I think the best looking groupset ever was Campagnolo Record from the late 80’s early 90’s. Beautifully made as well.

I drive a 2010 BMW 635D. I bought it because they look nice, are a pleasure to drive, reliable, well made and practical (can get a bike in the boot)I get 41 mpg which is ridiculous for a car like that capable of 0-60 in 6 seconds and limited to 155mph but capable of doing 175 ish. But then I drive properly and use my brakes sparingly and accelerate moderately. I am proud of the fact I have been driving for 28 years and do not have a single point on my licence. I never break the speed limit and use my cruise control a lot in certain zones so I cannot go over the speed limit. Never in rush to go anywhere as I always give myself more time than needed to get to where I am going.
In my opinion there are good and bad drivers regardless of the cars they drive and I do not tolerate those that drive up my back end.

I have the Cannondale Flash Hi mod carbon 26 incher which I bought used back in 2013. I think it is the 2011 model. Stunning bike and very fast. I am a road cyclist and use this for all my winter training. I do go off road a bit and the front lefty fork is incredibly smooth. Weighs in at about 16 lb. Will not hesitate to upgrade to the latest FSI version when one comes along at the right price.

Yes I am currently sitting right back on the saddle and could do with going back just a spot more.
16mm don’t sound much to me but I will give it a try.

A fine actor as well. Check out his performance in the Fawlty Towers episode The Hotel Inspectors.

I have been riding Cannondale Flash Hi-mod lefty for 2 years now. I am a road cyclist and use this for a lot of my winter training. It is very light and very fast and the fork is superb, the design of the Lefty fork is very impressive. When I do go off road riding hardpack trails and byways equally as good, the feel of the front fork is sublime and very smooth.

I bought a Hope R2i last autumn and loving it. Superb quality and no battery pack either. Very bright on dark unlit country roads. Bayonet fitting is excellent as well so easy to take off and mount on other bikes. Not cheap but worth every penny. £150 or so. Although one on ebay just now for £128.

Thanks for all the input so far. What about the actual quality of the kit though? Have been using Shimano XTR for many years now.

I have used a turbo trainer since 1990 (pretty much when they came out I think). I have never used a specific tyre. I have always used regular tyres with no problems at all. Hardest thing is getting the friction just right but once set up should all be ok. I have an old training bike on my turbo trainer and it stay on the trainer permanently. You better put a mat down in the kitchen as well because you will sweat lots!!

I go past guys on racing bikes on my 26 incher so they can’t be all that bad. Been training on road on my mountain bike all through the winter months. Go off road a bit too, never tried a 27.5 or 29er but surely they must be less manoeuvrable on tight turns?

It is easier washing a car if the paintwork is in tip top condition. I used to use a clay bar to prepare the paintwork but now use a Farecla G3 Clay Mitt (£12.99) After using that your paintwork will be incredibly smooth. Makes washing car much easier.

Old Dura Ace stuff is amazing. I have an old bike from about 2001 with Dura Ace and it still works spot on although it has been well looked after. Doesn’t get used much now as I have a newer bike. The latest Dura Ace is very nice though and that’s what I know use. Will it last as long? I doubt it.

I have used rollers for years and never had any problems. I also use a turbo and have an old winter training bike on there which stays on the turbo permanently.

I have found receipts (with their address) in rubbish dumped so here is what I do. Put the receipt in an envelope and send it to them without a stamp!! They will have to pay postage plus a £1 to get the letter. I put a note inside saying I found this receipt in a load of rubbish dumped at such and such a place. They may think twice about ever doing it again.
